Ash might not be a 100% Indian traditional woman because she is part of the entertainment business, but her strong core of moral values comes to light when she's compared with the majority of B-town starlets. After her marriage, she became even more conservative and politically correct, almost boringly so...
''Strong core of moral values?? '' In other words we know Ash personally and ''B-town starlets???'' Again Ash is the only 'star'..the real superstars like Katrina, Kareena are not being taken not account here??

So unoriginal. That sums her up.
i have a friend in jaipur ...he says he has met so many celebrities so far and i asked about has he ever seen aishwarya rai closely ...he said he saw her once , he said that aishwarya is very beautiful but she is not white or fair as much as she is seen on screen/photos but brown complexioned lady and he also said she has wrinkles specailly around eyes so she didnt allow him to take photo of hers when she is so brown and full of wrinkles only with light makeup
.....................................................
ahhhhhhhhh, who sent u, your vocabs are ridiculous. Stop behaving like NURSERY pupil. Your statements are really boring n funny @ the same time.
She looks like a sixties style mannequin that they have in some old shops in the wholesale areas.

''aishwarya always has had her priorities set, family comes first to her before career. She didn't take up many hollywood projects for this reason .She is not fame or money hungry like other celebs eg Karishma, who is busy parting in town when her baby is barely 3 months old, or like Madhuri, who rushes from the other corner of the world , when she realizes that she can earn more in India
''But HER PRETENSE/HYPOCRISY OF TEACHING HER KIDS HINDI/MARATHI IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF. Why doesn't she openly say she came for her career/was getting bored in US?''
And apart from Cannes (and other international events where she has to wear western ) and her photo-shots , I have rarely seen Ash wear gown, micro/mini, or revealing dresses (like today's heroines do) at public appearances.

U r really obsessed with Ash and Madhuri. For me what an actress does with her own life is immaterial as long as its not affecting society. U seem to be pissed off just coz someone who is completely a stranger to u is allegedly a hrpocrite?? That is something to really worry about don't u think?? How do u know she did not move to India to teach her kids her marathi culture?!!!
Now as for me, I do not dislike Ash. But I do not admire her. I watched Bride and Prejudice and Dhoom 2 and in my opinion Aishwarya was a terrible actress. She butchered the role of Lizzie, I am surprised she did not do her research when she had a great example like Jennifer Ehle's Lizzie for BBC.
I don't like watching Madhuri films, (the styling, music, scripts of her era has to be one of the worst in the history of Indian cinema) but i cannot deny that she's not only beautiful but a great performer too. So it would be interesting to see her now. I have never watched a Karisma movie unfortunately , just songs and she's a fantastic dancer, I like the way she dresses too. And from what I see kareena and Karisma are very close to each other and their mom.
I hope by now u have been able to deduce that these women do not matter to me so much that they have taken over my life, they r there just as performers and celebs, I am not a fan of any of these women. Of all the actresses I really like Priety Zinta in her earlier films. I admire her in her personal life too, esp after the evidence she gave in court, never fearing for her own security. But she has no bearing on my life except that if there was a movie of hers out, I would make the effort to watch it.
Unlike u I never called Aishwarya names like attention seeking or a bad mom.... (that was really nasty) I never said it was wrong for ash to get married at 33 or for her not to marry Salman ( I am not his fan btw) or to have 4 boyfriends, its her life, her choice!! But she strung Vivek along and misled him, I read interviews about that, so that was wrong of her (IF IT WAS TRUE) but I dont really fret about it!
Btw I am not being defensive, trying to explain to u so u can FINALLY STOP HARRASING ME. I have to say I don't know Ash , maybe shes a good person or bad, I wouldn't have a clue, but ash fans are really aggressive, not just u, there are several right here, so please stop hounding other people who disagree with u.
@just pointing out double standards and I have proven it conclusively.
I am the anon who was replying to you,
And exactly, I am also POINTING TO THESE DOUBLE STANDARDS YOU HAVE. YOU HAVE ONE SET OF RULES FOR AISHWARYA SINCE YOU HATE HER, AND OTHER SET OF RULES FOR OTHER ACTRESSES
You think that Aishwarya pretends to be traditional while she is not family oriented and the logic you give is she had kids at 38 , boyfriends before her marriage, and kept on doing movies .
Why do you then turn a blind eye towards other actresses who have murkier pasts and actually do a lot of pretense ?
Madhuri always pretended she was traditional, but she also married late at 32 years, and had kids late : 36 years and 38 years. Why doesn't your rules apply for her? And as I pointed out, on TV shows Mads says she married because she was in LOVE, wanted to get married soon ,and then after marrying , doesn't even go to live with the guy she loves. On the contrary, she isn't content with her filmography of 60 + movies, and keeps on doing movies with side roles until she realizes her days are gone. You think Aishwarya should marry at 25, and focus on family , when she has barely done 1-2 movies at that age, but you feel its okay for Madhuri to marry at 32, stay away from her husband for 3 years and continue doing more movies when she already has done 60 + movies? DOUBLE STANDARDS
Also, while coming back to India, the statement she gave to media was " I want my kids to learn Hindi/Marathi and Indian culture , Ram also always wanted to live in India" , which is again we all know, HYPOCRISY AND PRETENSE. She came back here for her career, which is evident from the endorsements she has been doing from day1 she arrived here . Also why will her husband want to live in India when he has been born and brought up in the states his whole life? And, I being a feminist say there is nothing wrong in it if she wishes to re-establish her career, why shouldn't married women works? . But HER PRETENSE/HYPOCRISY OF TEACHING HER KIDS HINDI/MARATHI IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF. Why doesn't she openly say she came for her career/was getting bored in US?
And about Aish having bf's before marriage; Why wouldn't the most beautiful women in the world have boyfriends? Men go nuts over her beauty, everyone will be trying to impress her. I don't get your logic why she is obliged to marry Salman and Vivek, when the former threatened to kill her family/harassed her/destroyed her career, and the latter kept on flaunting her everywhere? IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRADITIONAL MINDED GIRL IS ONE WHO IS OBLIGED TO MARRY SOMEONE WHO THREATENS HER FAMILY?
And Mads isn't a saint either, she did worse; had relationship with a married man(Sanjay), why are you mum on that? And that is just one example. There are plenty of others actresses who pretend to be traditional (Rani, vidya, tabu, kiran rao ), but go after married men (pc as well),or have endless breakups/linkups (bipasha, sushmita, preeti zinta), wear micro-minis/do drugs/have extra marital relationships ( malaikha arora khan), and even at 37 years , sleep around to get roles (amisha patel). WHERE ARE YOUR RULES FOR THEM?
Ash lived with her parents before marriage, most actresses move out of their parents home once they are 20-22. Karishma , Kareena, and Babita live in separate apartments inspite of being in Mumbai and being a family. Ash lives with her in-laws after marriage; I don't know any other top level actress who has done so. I haven't seen Ash smoke/drink /or party around with her friends (she is mostly with abhi), flaunt her designer clothes/designer jewellery like other models/heroines do. I haven't ever seen any other heroine's family around her the way I see the Vrinda Rai mostly with Aishwarya
And apart from Cannes (and other international events where she has to wear western ) and her photo-shots , I have rarely seen Ash wear gown, micro/mini, or revealing dresses (like today's heroines do) at public appearances. In her prime days 2002-03, she was mostly always wearing sarees/ traditional wear (or jeans ). Even at her home, we always see her in salwar suits. Which other top actress do you see in suits ?
If you think all this is not traditional , then you and are prejudiced against Ash , and no amount of logic can change your hatred. And stop shouting about rules to people when you your-self have double standards
And I don't care a fig about a blind crazy bull headed person who makes silly accusations like somone is medieval. Seems u live in kookoo land where the worlkd revolves around ur rules. U r hell bent on getting the last word, u have nothing to say apart from someone is crazy. Its a catch 22 situation, a crazy person says they r not crazy and a sane person would say the same! Duh!
Hmm, someone sounds a bit too defensive...Only crazy people say they aren't crazy. Have a fun life wallowed in Medieval-like prejudices and insolent negativity. ;D
I don't care a flying fig what you think about me or my posts. Wish you the best. Adieu!
Female quixote, please dont make me laugh...i do not obssess about some actress, i am past being a teenager to admire someone excessively. Nor am I consumed by my dislike of anybody. I am a a mature adult who is focused on my own life and responsibilties at home and work. The idea of being obsessed with a celeb is preposterous to me. ( and I am not jealous of aishwarya rai, before u jump to any conclusion), I read pinkvilla in my spare time coz its entertaining and sometimes I feel compelled to post.
Cud u not be more concise and to the point, u were rambling on.....btw u seem to have been posting as the anon lady ..r u both the same??? And please nowhere have I ever said its wrong of aishwarya to get married at her age....just pointing out double standards and I have proven it conclusively. If u are too biased to see the truth thats just ur problem. Seems to me like u r obssesed with Aishwarya Rai.
@Fri, 2012-03-30 04:54 — Anonymous: I don't give a hoot about when anyone gets married but it bugs me when people pretend to be traditional or middle class when doing things completely opposite.
When u get married is irrelevant to when u start work. Some women never work! U don't go on postponing motherhood beyond 30 unless there is a valid reason ie u didn't find anyone, or u were fociused on career. If aish had no intention of marrying Salman ir Vivek it just shows that she was having a good time with them.
End of the day no one forced her to join acting , not like her father was poor or sumthin. She came from a good familly and cud have easily been marrid much much much ealuer. She chose not to. SO FAMILY DOESN'T COME FIRST TO HER.
**********
On the contrary, my friend, you seem very obsessed about Aishwarya's personal life. Here are my 2 cents on the issue:
1. From a strict conservative, traditional point of view, Aish can be regarded a modern, open-minded woman, focused on career in her first part of her youth, but at the same time looking for the right guy. Because she's in showbiz, she didn't have exactly an Indian traditional wedding with a guy chosen by parents in her early twenties and so forth, so she can't be considered a pure traditional woman, because she went to work first, and only after establishing herself, settled down.
2. From a Western, feminist, liberal point of view, again, Aish is the modern career woman, who went through a few not so good relationships until she stumbled on the right guy. She wasn't neither too young nor too old for marriage from this point of view. It's what normally happens in the civilized countries, women marry after they established their careers/jobs and find a good guy, not jump into marital bliss with the one who deflowered them.
Now why is Aish considered to be traditional, middle class type of girl in spite of having relationship with guys before marriage? Because she is one of the very few in Bollywood who didn't went after married men and didn't have children with them or didn't married them after that, breaking them off from their first wives. Neither Salman nor Vivek nor Abhi were married at that time, right? And whatever happened between her and the first two, it's obvious that they didn't hurry to get married in general, else they would have asked her. Perhaps she wasn't ready either, she was still relatively at the beginning of her movie career. I mean, as far as I know Salman is still not married and Vivek only married recently, right? But Aish has already a 5 years old marriage and a kid. That says much. She also married at the peak of her career, not caring too much about the fact that married Bolly actresses are not found very appealing by the directors or audience.
She also can be considered more traditionalist compared to the average Bolly actress because she married fairly sooner than most actresses who marry after at least 15 years in the showbiz and only after their career started waning. That's patriarchal Bollywood for ya: heroines after their thirties are staring to be replaced by younger ones, meanwhile heroes in their forties are frolicking with girls who could be their daughters, but things changed slightly in the last decade. Aish did marry after 10 years of being in the movies and only after 1 year of relationship. Look around Bollywood now: most actresses are well part 33 (the age Aish married) and still don't have any plans in the future because their career are going well, although they have old relationships. And neither the younger ones nearing their 30 years. Except for Vidya- who started later than others and she doesn't show any signs of getting married, in spite having a serious bf. Ok, let it be said that I'm not judging in any way these ladies, more respect for career focused females.
Conclusion: Aish is an interesting, but healthy mix of traditional, conservative values and modern, liberal mindset.
Just a piece of advice: stop obsessing.
@Fri, 2012-03-30 20:05 —
Again, it doesnt matter to me who Ash married BUT - 'traditional' women like her do not even have one boyfriend let alone 4.
To the other lady who is insisting Madhuri is attention seeking and objecting to her not staying in the states after marrying an NRI - The way I look at it, she looked after her kids when they were little and now wants to make a comeback. Fair enough! Maybe she moved to India coz she's bored of her life in the US and misses all her family and friends?? And it would be perfect for her career as well?? I doubt any mom takes a decsion like moving her kids across continents just coz shes attention seeking.
Now i am really beginning to be bored of this argument, and for the record I dont care when Tabu, Priety Rani etc get married, what Madhuri does with her life and wheher Karisma is a good mom or not or when aishwarya rai got married. All the best to these women and others.
her flaw is her nose and nostrils it looks like a birds beak

So according to you, a girl should get married to her first boyfriend even if she's not sure to love him?? Grow up...
Aish married when she was sure the man was the one... What's the use of getting married early if it's to divorce later??...
@Fri, 2012-03-30 04:54 — Anonymous
I never said that women should not work after marriage(madhuri) or Karishma should get married earlier just because she started earlier. I myself am a working married women, and a feminist why would I not advocate women rights or women working after marriage, it's their 100% right to work .
However in case of Madhuri, it feels odd that firstly she does marry a doctor in US at , and then doesn't even go to live with him permanently after marriage, she goes permanently only after 4 years. I agree it is her right to work whenever she wants , but then why marry someone so far in US? Choose a groom from Mumbai itself and continue working . On one hands she felt Indians are always in "awe" of her, they will have "pre-conceived" notions about her, she can't be herself, so she weds a US groom who hasn't seen any of her movies, proudly flaunts that on Koffee with Karan, and then on the other hand she doesn't even live at his place which normally every other women does after marriage. Make up your mind girl
Yes, everybody has their right do to whatever they want, but if I was in Madhuri's place( having a excellent career and good money for 16 years, and at 33 I am marrying an American Indian because I want to lead a different life (not the one which I see in India), then I would immediately rush to him after marriage, I would be content with the career God had given me, and not be spending another 3 years in side roles and tv serials when it prevents me from being with my spouse

Pls read my comments again, i am a liberal person who doesnt like to force opinions on others. I am merely illustrating to someone that a pot shudn't be calling a kettle black.
I am not an Ash fan or a Bachchan fan ...but this is not the stone age to tell a woman when to get married ,when to have kids etc.Perhaps you have your own personal opinion on your life, but not someone elses! Why should she marry at a certain age because it's the so called right age to get married? Salman has obviously hurt her ,(thus the Chalte Chalte fiasco).Dunno what happened about Vivek ,but everybody has the right to change their mind. Mind you,I don't think she's a simple girl or anything , but some of these comments are so stupid.
Lol her white skin is most certainly a myth she looks the same skin tone as vidya balan here!!! Where is the white skin her fans brag about !
@ Female quixote, I was not rude. Despite the other person asking me if I was mad I never called them names. I dont get why people do not respond with logic to reason. They talk about things like why women should not work after marriage (madhuri) or why some like Karisma should get married earlier just coz they started at 16 but on the other hand its ok for asihwarya to get married 33 and have kids at 38. One rule for some and another for others!!
sje is preggy afain ... congrats .. bless you

Aishwarya looks amazing!! <3 <3 Her face is an exquisite work of art, even when she is slightly chubby. She wears that colorful dress, not the other way around. Those strong colors are complimenting her tanned complexion marvelously. Really, she rocks! Her mother looks beautiful, too.
I don't think it's our business to judge if and when actresses marry or have kids. But indeed, Aishwarya married still at the peak of her career, and only after a year of relationship with Abhi. And she gave awesome movies after marriage, too. Anyway, love her! I recently watched Taal completely (I stayed away before mainly because of Anil Kapoor, no offense; I only knew the song picturisations) and I fell in love with her again if that's possible. She's magnetic and ethereal and unique in every way.

Chill, mate! I'm sure you can convey your opinions in a more polite manner.
@Wed, 2012-03-28 03:22 — Anonymous
You were the one bothering about her that she is starting her family at 40, if you really don't give a hoot about when Ash gets married/have kids, then why are you commenting in the first place
When you compare two people, it should be done in the same context. The time frame of 23-28 for marriage happens for girls taking white collar jobs, not for girls in the showbiz. Can you tell me which other Indian model married at 25 years of age that you expect Aishwarya to have done that?Bipasha Basu started modelling at 16-17, she was also successful as a model. After 15-16 years , now (she is 32), she still hasn't married.
Aishwarya , if compared to other actresses, or models has married only within 8-9 years of entering showbiz, and didn't bother about her popularity when taking decision of marriage, which is A RARITY in bollywood. She married at the peak of her career, when she was giving blockbusters : Dhoom 2, Guru The only other actress to have done so in Kajol.
All others ; Sreedevi,Madhuri, Karishma, Shilpa Shetty , Lara, Mahima Chaudhary, Juhi Chawala married when their career was at decline and there wasn't much happening at that stage. And Madhuri still wasn't content with that, she kept on trying for movies/tv serials after marriage. She only left when she realized that people as well as producers/directors are not interested in her anymore
aishwaria rae..we love you..most stunning woman ever born on earth

Now who looks THIS good at nearly 40?
-----------------
Plenty of people - Charlize Theron, Eva Mendes, and Kate Beckinsale are in their late 30s and look far better than Aishwarya. Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston are in their 40s and look great as well, better than her in fact.
Really dont just start talking about ur friends and all that now. keep ur answers to the context, dont deliberately rake up tertiary issues. Aishwarya already was succesful at 25, if she chose to she could have got married. Not like she was struggling to make a livelihood as ur friend who got married at 32.
She was already on her feet. Even men, generally no one waits till they have 10-15 yrs of work under their belt regardless of what time they start working. Some may start business at 18, but still get married at 35, some may finish their professional degrees at 23 and get married at 28.
The idea is that generally people get married in their 20s even the men unless they are really struggling or havent met anyone suitable.
I dont give a hoot when aishwarya gets married, i am not her mother to be worried about her age. Generally for girls, they parents give them as best a possible education, ( we r talking about fortunate people who dont worry about where the next meal is coming from) let them work for a year or two, keep searching for alliances if the girls are going for arranged marriages or agree to the girls choice if she is on love....and get them married between 23-28. Dont tell me these women are not successful in life or not career orientated.
Aishwaya's generation had to chose between career and marriage, while we are fortunate enough to have both. She chose careeer. So family doesnt come first to her. End of.

Excuse me what age a person starts a career is irrelevant to when they get married.
You are really mad or what? When a person starts his/her career is VERY MUCH RELEVANT TO WHEN THEY GET MARRIED AND WHEN THEY GET SETTLED, HAVE KIDS/FAMILY LIFE etc.
One of my friends got married at 24 years , since she completed her engineering at 21 years, and was earning well . She had kids in 26 years of age. Another friend of mine of the same batch, after intermediate did BSc for 3 years, diploma for 1 year, then engineering 4 years, still couldn't get job. Then she did Masters for 2 years, gave interviews, and finally after 1 year got a job when she was 30 . She married at 32, and had kids at 33.
Obviously when a person starts there career late, they are going to get settled late in life. And Srideevi might have worked in a play or two as a child artist at 4 years, that does not mean she started her career at 4 years. Her career started when she started she played role of a heroine, probably in late 70s. That was for girls, for guys : how can they get married at all when they don't have a career? Which parent will give his/her daughter's hand to a guy who is not settled?
There are so many bollywood actress who are 35 +, have been in industry for 15 years, date men but refuse to get married (ameesha patel, preeti, rani , urmila, tabu, sushmita ) , ash relatively married /settled earlier then most of the actresses do in showbiz
Aishwarya has been brought in a typical middle class family and is very traditional! She's a SUPERSTAR but a very simple girl! So yes family comes first, she married when she wanted to, and don't care about the gossip about her weight! She's very rooted and down to earth.
God bless her and I'm sure she'll continue to sizzle for a long time to come!
Successful career women usually give birth later than other women. Nandita Das had her first child at almost 41 after 20 years of movie career, I'm not seeing anyone making much fuss about that. And why would Ash have a kid with Salman when they weren't even married?? She was barely 29 when they broke up! Same with Vivek, they weren't married. She barely had at that time around 5 years of cinematographic career, besides her modelling career was only part time because she was still studying at university. Only after winning Miss World, and completing her reigning year overseas, she started appearing in commercials in 1995 and filming for Iruvar in 1996. She had her first commercial success in 1998. Anyone knows actresses who had gotten married or with child after only a few years in showbiz?
Kajol is the only recent exception to that, but she already had more then 10 years of movies... Most actresses choose to make a family after their career is established like most career women do, and that's somewhere well in their thirties...I don't see any problem with that.
Ash is looking gorgeous as always at this event. It's incredible how she works this neon colored outfit, but I hope she gets back in shape soon.
