Btw this isn't going to change the fact tht Angelina actually starred in the film.I m just stating ,as i would state tht Ash refused VZ/dostana etc.But again it proves that Ash is wanted for the many A-list projects in both BW n HW.

Once again, Aishwarya is being rememberd for her looks above her talent. Thats a shame really. These type of polls must be embarassing for an actress. No talented actress wants to be placed on superficial lists like these. It takes away from what they are supposed to be known for. I'm sure Aish fans would agree with me when I say that these type of polls mean nothing.. Yes they show she is popular, but for the wrong reasons.
I always say that it's a shame that Aishwarya will be rememberd for her looks moreso her talent. She is a good actress, but many people, like me, can't take her seriously due to the whole "most beautiful woman" thing. I kind of think it worked against her, as most pretty faces are never taken seriously when it comes to raw talent.
This poll would be fab for her if she was still a model. Same goes for Angelina Jolie.
the pics sujata posted with angelina and aishwarya in similar pose, u can clearly tell aishwarya is way more beautiful. angelina's features are harsh. aishwaryas are very feminine and delicate. plus angelina is anorexic. aish has a body of a real woman with enough meat over bones.

Can you give a link to where Doug Liman talking about the movie being offered to Aishwarya first ?And that IMDb trivia means nothing most probably you yourself posted it there or some other Ash fan/PR as is always with posts related to Ash Bachchan .Who knows?????
As for this poll results we all know that south Asians mainly Indians did all the voting for her and probably people of middle eastern descent. Others ( especially whites) don't give a damn about her! Cuz white people have better looking actresses ( I mean actresses not beauty pageant winners !) to rave about like Angelina jolie, Megan Fox, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Evan Rachel Wood,Emma Stone etc.etc. Even kate Winslet has better screen presence than her!

Te facts ra ealways munipilated when it comes to aishwarya....she always reject international projects but picks up the msot pathetic scripts...she was a one minute role in hancock and later a very tiny role in Hitch...aishwarya probably refused it for this and I am glad she did that because I respect her and dont to see her wasted in tiny role.Julia Roberts said she is the most beautiful woman because she was asked "what do you think of aishwarya rai" what could she possibly answer...and the link you provided clearly tells that Nicole kidman was the original choice and than Gwen Stefani,Catherine Zeta-Jones,Eva Green were also offered the role of Jane but there is no mention if aishwarya was really offered the role.
i like aishwarya and I am glad that she made it at the top,she is 38,hardworking but no need to put her on a pedestal!!

I, being an ash fan, am happy that she turned down the role of jane smith, it does not suit her personality. Will we like ash doing a role where she is on an assignment to kill her own husband in the movie, or doing sex scenes/smooching? She just doesn't suit those white women roles, the same way as Angelina Jolie does not suit any periodic /historic character, she looks too much action oriented. We can't see Angelina playing a feminine, coy European historic/princess type character (Queen Elizabeth, Helen of troy , Queen Cleopatra like ash played in Jodha), the same way we cant expect Ash to play a action/catwomen type of role
i always found angelina jolie the most beautiful woman in the world. that woman been to so many countries helped poor people dressed as them and mother of 3 then adopted 3 kids she is not only pretty by her looks also a beautiful person from inside. Angie is icon always will be no matter people dye their hair like her wear their eyeliner like her and more likely copy her strawberry lips they cannot be her period.

you are twisting the fact it was never said by any officials of Mr and Mrs that they want to cost aishwarya rai,
show me the proper link where directors or producers of Hancock and Mr and Mrs Smith said that they want aish in the lead roles, not rumours made by aish's PR. why would aish reject working with Brad Pitt and do C grade movies with unknown actors like provoked/mistress of species which were filmed during that time.

I don't care for such polls but the only one thing we can get out of this is the fact that she is still very popular. Age, marriage, motherhood. Nothing seems to be affecting her stardom much.
In reference to the comment where the commentator said Aishwarya is not known for anything except most beautiful woman in the world tag or being the Bachchan Bahu. You cannot belittle her achievements. You don't end up being on TIME magazine cover or the TIME 100 most influential people in the world just for some non-existent tag. Aishwarya was Miss World, she reigned supreme in Bollywood for the longest time along with being a global icon, doing quality work, winning awards, accolades and acclaim. She has balanced her life perfectly well and is the ideal woman IMO. So I can see why men find her attractive. What I don't see/understand is the hatred.

Angelina is a whole lot more popular throughout the world than Aish and she's the complete package unlike the Bachchan bahu who's known throughout the world only for her beauty mostly surgically altered beauty at that.

aish turned down Mr and Mrs Smith and Hancock? please make some digestible lies, she was never approached for these projects. she has typical south Indian looks like Rekha, Asin and Deepaka with hooked nose and flared nostrils she can't play the role of a white woman no matter how much white paint she use, white audience will never accept her. I don't know why aish PR and fans need to make lies about her none existent offers from Hollywood? there were also rumours that she is doing bond girl role with Daniel Craig which proven to be false.
about this poll I was there voting for Anglina Jolie and I saw who was voting for aish only few Indians (her PR) were voting for her after each 10 minutes not a single white person voted for her what that proves? only Indians find her attractive rest of world don't know her or don't care about.

WOW. This is huge. Just proves how Aishwarya's popularity is intact overseas and in India (the Ormax poll). Quite an extraordinary feat because actresses are supposed to be out after they cross their early 30's or after getting married or having kids. Surely doesn't seem to apply to Aish.
For me, Aishwarya is the most beautiful woman in the world and there are no doubts about that. And as Oxygen said, Angelina is over Aish only because she is a little more popular. I wish she did all those movies she were offered, but then again, we knew she wasn't ready to leave India or Indian movies. Good for us :D
What attracts one to Aishwarya - Of course, her striking beauty is where it all begins, but that is just the beginning. The more you know about her, the more you want to know her. She has an aura/mystique about her which keeps people curious about her. She has an enigmatic persona and casts a spell wherever she goes. That reflects on-screen too. Such towering screen presence. Even when sharing screenspace with senior icons like Tabu in Kandukondain, Madhuri in Devdas, Amitabh in Kajra Re, Rajnikanth in Endhiran, she always holds her own and never gets overshadowed. Aishwarya can't hold a candle to Angelina when it comes to beauty, humanity, confidence, elegance and poise! Angelina's a great humanitarian ,great actor and a terrific mother there are many facets to Angelina unlike Aishwarya who's still holding to the tag of the "most beautiful woman in the world" even when she's not that good looking anymore specially after marriage. There may be a dozen better looking women in the world who are not famous at all.
Aishwarya and her people are always marketing her as the " most beautiful Woman in the world " while Angelina is a much more sophisticated and an evolved woman. Angelina's a great action star and a budding director too. the only thing going on for Aishwarya is her "most beautiful woman in the world" tag and the Bachchan name. Without these two she's nothing! No wonder the only thing we hear in the media again and again is how beautiful,attractive she is, nothing apart from that. Her and her people are banking on her so called "most beautiful woman " thing to the hilt. She's a flop actress period!
