You have to have an agent or manager to work in Hollywood, that's how things work there. Aishwarya's international manager, Simone Sheffield, terminated their relationship. Unless Ash gets someone to work on her behalf there, she won't be doing anything there. Which is fine by me - keep her in India. We have enough fake, plastic 'actresses' here.

Ash's meager attempts to get into Hollywood movies have failed. PP2 and Last Legion were a joke. US audiences didn't really care for either one of them.
You need a lot more than heavy eye makeup, skin bleach, exaggerated expressions, crying on cue, and dancing around trees/through fields to work in a Hollywood movie. Ash would probably have a better chance than other Bollywood actresses (Kaif = talentless hack, Basu = ick), but she needs to go after or select better roles there. Good thing she turned down movies like Troy and Hancock, they were awful. She should go after more character driven roles; she's good at those i.e. Choker Bali, Raincoat.
She can do all the magazine covers she wants and bleach herself into oblivion. She's not going to work in Hollywood or be successful there.

Yes, she's big in India - mainstream actress, successful, decent acting skills, etc. She's huge in South Asia, East Asia, Middle East and maybe parts of Europe and Africa. Can't say for sure for the last 2. But she doesn't have the same level of hyper-stardom in the US and most western countries that she does in India.
Also, the pictures of her from Boston, NY, LA, etc do not show throngs of people and photographers following her everywhere on the streets. US media did not give her coverage at the Oscars last year (French media may have, but that's because they know her from Cannes). Simone Sheffield was her former international manager who tried to introduce Rai to Hollywood, but it was done mostly through Indian-themed English language movies i.e. B&P, Mistress of Spices. US audiences didn't really care for PP2 or Last Legion either.
Sheffield terminated her 10-year relationship with Rai. I wonder if Rai will get another international agent or concentrate on just working in India.

Guzaarish is a copy of what? Everybody said it was a copy of The Sea Inside but the film turned out to be completely different. And poor acting skills? Biased much? Show me a single credible article which said about this 'controversy' you're reffering to? You won't. Because there was no talk about Ash not being pregnant and using a surrogate. It is just the jealous haters talking on Pinkvilla.
Aishwarya should get credit where it's due - she's got to be the biggest star in Bollywood history. And compared to her peers, she's had the most international exposure - Cannes, Letterman, Oprah, Time 100 twice, and 4-5 non-Indian movies to her name. The international endorsements are also a plus. She's a huge star in India.
However, I do believe the Indian media sometimes implies that she has the same level of stardom in other countries as she does in India - that simply isn't true. Her fan base in those countries i.e. UK, US, Canada, Dubai is mostly Indians. Of course, non-Indians like her as well, and generally speaking, the entertainment industry would know famous names outside of the US. But I would guess the majority of people that know her name outside of India are NRIs. She came on a number on shows to promote B&P in 2005 and has appeared on Oprah twice along with E! on Sexiest (movie stars, body part-eyes, actresses). Even her cross over movies i.e. B&P, Mistress of Spices have been Indian-themed. And the two that weren't - PP2, Last Legion - did not do well. Appearing in promotions and being talked about on a few E! shows doesn't make her a star in Hollywood at least. I can't speak of other countries, but she hasn't been featured regularly here for the average American to know who she is.
But that doesn't mean her achievements should be downplayed, not at all. Her achievements should be appreciated, but kept in perspective at the same time.

To clarify some of the below comments - she was on the Asia edition of Time magazine. This picture above is from the Royal Ascot which is sponsored by Longines. I think that picture is either from the UK or France, pretty sure it's from the UK, and it's probably 3-4 years old.
Totally agree with the poster that said that Abhishek respects Aishwarya unlike the two losers she dated below. Salman...well, enough said. Physical abuse, infidelity, causing drama on her movie sets, and stress for her family. Vivek claims (claims being the key word) that Aishwarya 'manipulated' him into doing the press conference and never thanked him afterward - see interview with Farah Khan. What rubbish!
