The Western media is shocked at the criticism Aishwarya has been receiving in her home country, India. It is quite ironic because India is known to be welcome to all shapes and sizes unlike the West which has strict rules for celebrities to be stick thin, yet here the West is shocked at the level at which Ash is being slammed for having a few extra pounds on her body! She was among the top trends all over the world in Yahoo and MSN. Trended at #1 on Yahoo and #3 on MSN worldwide. When Ash still looks like this after 8 years of birth of her baby then we'll talk. She has just given birth 6 months ago and there might have been many other pregnancy complications so dont be so quick to judge.

I am sorry, I'm all for people losing weight at their own pace & no one has the right to pressurize new moms ..BUT in the case of Ash (& many other actors/actresses) I make an exception... This is a lady who has played the role of a Mom in sooo many movies where she has shown off her perfect figure & beauty while playing the mother of 8 yr old kids...so has she (& so many other actresses) not put pressure on the rest of the world then ??
So its ok for them to put pressure on others, but god forbid that the pressure should ever get to them, then they play the "we are just normal human beings" card...Sorry no pity for you & the likes of you ( & I am including 99% of Hollywood & Bollywood actors & actresses in this, so I'm not just anti-ash). You guys make movies portraying unrealistic situations...never once thinking how much that influences the minds of the audience & directly or indirectly pressurizes people. So yes, YOU are to blame if people think that a mom of two 10 yr olds can look like a super model.

in those times (60s, 70s), women were often seen in sari's/indian dresses only, also in movies they used to play the role of a mother/housewife in general, so married women/mothers acting wasn't a big deal since they suited the role and public image. Sharmila was 22 when she married, dimple /shabhana used to do mainly art movies.
Even back then , no 40 year old heroine ever got to play a lead role in any commercial movies
Post 80-90's, India has changed rapidly ,and so has bollywood. Now audience does not generally accept older /married women or mothers . They wish to see glamorous, sexy babes are heroines. See which type of movies Madhuri- Karishma are getting, no top brand production house is signing them. Sonali, Urmila, Preeti, Raveena, Twinkle, Shilpa Shetty, all heroines from the 90's never got good movie offers after marriage/passing their prime age,. Aishwarya is an exception to this, she got many strong female centric roles in big commercial films after marriage, and will surely getting after motherhood as well.

U r wrong. which era u think i am actually referring to? I am talking about the recent past. Its not about 60s and 70s. What has got u confused? I have clearly specified the names of actresses so it should give u an idea that i am talking about 90s. i am asking to give me a single name of a popular film actress of 90s and 2000's who has made successful comeback and has signed major films after she got married.
the lady is not working since two years, just sitting at home and enjoying being a mum and yet she creates a storm.

a new born child sleeps for 18 hrs a day.. especially throughtout the noon from 12 to 6.. you have all the time in the world to hit the gym.. i had a c-section and a broken treadmill in my house and lost 8 kgs in the first 6 months because i didnt know what else to do when my girl was taking a nap!!! so please stop playing the motherhood card and just say i am enjoying the break and the food and will get back to shape when i think i need to rather than put down all the new mothers who take an effort to loose weight atleast to make ourselves fit to get back to our work and family in full swing.

So are you saying this is the first time Indian society has been so immature about a new mother's baby weight? No, there have been many other instances. But why did it come to the limelight only now? Because of Aishwarya. All these sites wrote about her when she got married, pregnant, gave birth, named her daughter etc. So please stop kidding yourself. @Shakuntela, Shame on you for suggesting someone to lose 5kgs a week. It is not only unhealthy but could create heart problems. How old are you? Less than 20 I think. Aishwarya is 40. Her body is different. It isn't the same. Also, Aishwarya has her daughter as a priority over her own body. Here is one celebrity who isn't vain and you guys still diss her? Unbelievable.

I think it is the fault of the Bachchans like Jaya Bachchan.. pretty sure they don't want Aishwarya to get in shape. They want Aishwarya to look out for the baby all the time and do all the duties of a bahu etc.. at least that have mine sources have told me.. aishwarya doesn't seem to mind it.. as she is from a middle class family. Women aren't allow to look after themself if their family need to them etc.. And the interview of Abhi like Aishwarya send him to another room confirmed it , he need his sleep, and he wasn't allowed to do any duties etc.. In this kinda family men comes first, just look as Jaya. BUt LOL look at Abhi his career is almost over.. no way he is lead actor? So better for Abhi to look for another job or let Aishwarya work and take care of herself.. Feel sorry for Aishwarya to get married in a family like this?
