Agree. Aishwarya Never talks about her looks. I have heard bimbos like Megan Fox who talk about their looks and put down others. She made of Steve Bescumis appearence. And she claims she never had any surgeries lol.

There has to be one person writing all those commentd about rai being brown skinned turned white comments. It's that annyoing Freida Pinto fan. lol...such an immature person.

The more HATERS are spreading the negativity about Aishwarya and the weight issue, the more I see where Barkha is coming from and why she tweeted this... Negative People stop at nothing. When they have decided that they hate or dislike someone, they would ALWAYS find something wrong with that person or their personality; whether its physical, mental or whatever. They will always find a way to put that person down at any given chance.

So if you call that 'cashing in on beauty' then a lot of other Beauty Queens cashed in on their "BEAUTY" and titles from the pageants (Lara, Priyanka, Diya, Sushmita, Celina, Gul Panag, Jaqueline, Namrita, Neha, Pooja Batra, Diana Hayden, Tanushree etc. etc. etc.) to name a few only... (of course none of them saw the kind of fan following & recognition Ash achieved over the years, but they used that platform to get where they are)
First of all every commercial actor in the world 'cashes in' on their LOOKS. Which top indian actress cashes in on their ugliness??? They are all called beautiful either by fans or PR team or even some call themselves beautiful (won't take names here to start another war) Point is everyone has different definition of beauty and talent. Everyone has different taste.
Some people might love an actor or a star - some people might not, but that doesn't give any of us the right to rip that person apart, using such derogatory terms & violent threats on public platforms. (i have read the most hateful & extremely vile stuff written about her - before, during & after Ash's pregnancy, that i wouldn't even imagine a human saying it for another human being.) I don't even wanna repeat that stuff here its so awful. And the amazing thing, she NEVER replied to any of those awful comments or threats. She has kept quiet throughout all this. And i absolutely Salute her for such patience.
And Barkha's point was first haters were after her acting skills and now its weight issues, she has always been scrutinized for one thing or the other. And unfortunately in the minds of our shallow society, BEAUTY's definition is extremely wrong and Limited.
So if you hate her or dislike her FOR WHATEVER reason, why not just stop following her? I mean most NORMAL people would ignore the people they dislike. But here i have seen people specifically looking/searching for Aishwarya's post or videos just so they can say something nasty.
And the saddest part is she wasn't even spared during her pregnancy or after (which is totally her personal time and she is not doing anything professionally.)

whatever her reasons for not losing the weight despite the fact she is a celebrity is up to her is what i believe. in an era where we are so concerned with looks and her being such a sought after celebrity i admire her courage to be the way she is. i would have felt so insecure being one of the most beautiful women in the world to come out looking so different. So Kudo's to her for that. When a woman goes through a pregnancy she goes through many changes and physical and emotional and for some people its not easy. We see celebrities go back to shape in a few weeks but for normal people we struggle a lot more we do not have the resources. Aishwarya in that sense has the resources but i admire her for being the way she is and taking her time to do it. She is no obviously threatened by media expectations.

Makeupcritic, I understand from where you're comming from, and I already knew vaguely what your reply will contain. Honestly, even I as a heterosexual female and a non-fan at that time, I was amazed by Aish's flawless beauty when I first laid my eyes on her, and her face remained etched in my memory years until I finally found out who she was.

I won't deny that Aish is foremost famous for her beauty, but this case of harsh or mean criticism over her outer appearance it's not only because of her beauty queen fame. If it were, then it would be the first time that something about her is made out a national issue or a hot topic, but it hardly is, as I argued previously. Everything about her becomes controversial, and I settled down thinking that it's just SOMETHING about her that makes people so interested in her, be it in a negative, positive or even neutral way. She just can't be ignored. It doesn't help clarifying matters that she's secretive Scorpio by nature.

I don't think Aishwarya is the only one wasted in the industry because of her beauty. Broadly speaking, (there are exceptions, though, and even in Aish's case), I believe that all Bollywood mainstream female stars are wasted in tiny roles and crappy movies until they get into their thirties, or get married because they aren't in demand anymore. That's the industry's fault: it takes young, beautiful women, chews them up and spits them out when fresh supplies come at the horizon. That's because the industry is superficial, patriarchal and the public wants hot, young women on their theater's screens. Madhuri, Sridevi and other 80s-90s heroines slowly disappeared (well, kudos for their comeback now), but actresses who acted mostly in non-mainstream cinema, like Shabana Azmi, never took long hiatuses from movies. Likewise Tabu, I think she's one of the few 40ish actresses who never stopped working when most of her contemporaries in her age bracket, but with mainstream fame, faded away or are preparing now for comebacks.
Even Rani's association with YRF proved to be almost fatal to her career because she contained herself in playing cardboardish roles; forget the crappy or non-original storylines of those movies.

And we all know how rare women-centric movies are in mainsteam Bollywood. Let's not kid ourselves that female actresses are working in Bollywood only because they enjoy acting, or that Bollywood is ALL about acting, or that producers/directors are making movies only from a pure love of art. These people, or most of them, are in for money, stardom, but also because India has a cinema/entertainment crazed population: Dance, music and cinema are culturally specific to India. And in a country that is also famous for female beauty, it's quite natural that a cinematic industry will make the most of these world famous beauties. Let's not confuse Bollywood with Off-Broadway (or any other strictly theatrical/drama institution, for that matter)

Aish and Kajol are perhaps the only 2 mainstream heroines that continued to work steadily after their marriages, with relative mainstream succes. I don't know if and when Aish is going to get back to movies, but the thing is that the bigger the female star is in Bollywood, the bigger are the chances that she will retire for a long period or for good. ( ex: Sri and Mads, even Kajol) After bearing children, is even harder to go back to yearly filming, but I think a plausible scenario is that she will churn out one movie at every 2-4 years, or come back after her child is around 5 years old. Or perhaps, never.

And I certainly don't think her beauty, or more likely the lack thereof, is going to be her downfall as a beauty icon/celebrity. She has already established herself as a world beauty in pop culture and she leaves behind a culturally rich filmography imo. Sure, some people will forget her, other beauties/actresses appear at the horizon, and the cycle continues. Your statement is also too vague and general, did you refer at a possible downfall as a top Bollywood heroine? That happens to all top heroines and heroes after a certain age, sooner or later. we must accept that, as fans, about out favorites. Even if some of them continue making movies, they won't play lead characters anymore in big productions, of if they do, it will be in smaller, art-house projects, without wide releases. Nothing lasts forever, especially for Bollywood heroines.

I am sorry but she is gonna go to Cannes looking like that? She will have to wear a long, flowing gown to hide all that weight.

ask barkha to stand up for real causes of women especially against the notion of beauty and cosmetics in India.....pink villa please post this as my earlier comment on l oreal as a supermarket brand never made it...and finally stop mentioning Angelina Jolie here...I don't care about her beauty or being a pitt grabber but the work she has done to highlight refugees problems and how she promoted adoption is commendable...I am yet to see a Bollywood star do something like that...and for me Jolie is beautiful inside out...

LOL...go on Hollwood forums and you will see how much bashing Angelina Jolie gets. Ppl say that she adpots kids for the attention/limelight and does all this chairty work to get attention also. I don't care for Jolies chairty work. I like her as an actress, don't really care how she spends her time . There has to be bollywood stars who have done chairty work but maybe they do not make it public like her. And maybe you should stop mentioning all this fariness/darkness crap. You are not making a point by ranting and dissing Rai all the time. Even in Hollywood there is a big problem with skin color. it amazes me how most if the popluar stars of diffrent ethicnites are all light skinned for their type. Mariah Carey,Halle Berry,Eva Longoria,Jessica Alba,Cameron Diaz(yes she is half mexican despite blond hair, blue eyes). They have photoshopped people like Beyonce to a lighter shades in the Us Loreal Ads . Even her new ad about the "fit with all color tones " foundation makeup she still appears lighter then her normal shade. Do you even live in the United States or Canada? It sure doesn't look like it.

To the poster who mentioned Hollywood celebs losing weight fast, this is exactly the trickle down effect I so dread. What most people do not realize is that these celebs spend millions of dollars on personal trainers and nutritionists and opt for elective C sections way before their due dates to minimize the ballooning of the final few weeks. Most of them have tummy tucks to go with their sections and can afford an army of nannies and personal physicians which an average woman just can not. To expect an average woman to compete with them would mean having the same amount of resources and easy money which is just not possible.

it is true that haters have to pick something to blame Ash for. Earlier they were saying she wasn't pregnant/had surrogate. Where have you all the bastards gone now who were saying that? If she wasn't pregnant in first place, why would she gain so much weight now
