Geez, if a woman's body going through the natural processes associated with childbirth can actually be called as her "downfall" then the human race would not have continued. What a backward and absurd mentality... and sexist just as Barkha Dutt has said!
Ash is not at an healthyweight at the moment. This woman needs to stop promoting unhealthy weight gain/obesity. Im sure Ash intends to
lose this weight gain/fat too--because its unhealthy! Have you seen how big she is?
Anyway, this womans arguments have no substance. Aish is FAMOUS for her goodlooks and her figure--she has reigned as the ''worlds most beautiful woman'', she happily lapped up everything that came with that title; the fame, power and money. Now, when she is drawring criticism for her weight gain
why does everyone has to be all 'considerate'? Posessing that title also mean she can be criticised too.
And she remains 'calm' because she is no normal human being! She's a public figure, someone who has lived in the limelight all her life, I have the right to criticise/and praise her as/when i wish to.
She looks overweight yes but she does not resort to a tummy tuck like some stars do after giving birth.
Google most beautiful woman in the world and the two celebs who always come up are Aishwarya Rai or Angelina Jolie. Both get so much hate from their own people.

Yes I have nver heard herself claim that she was "the most beautiful woman in the world" .Jessica Biel actaully did say that "oh I don't get many roles because I'm too beautiful" in an interview once though. I don't see anyone bashing her for it.

Like I said on a previous post on Aishwarya gaining weight - I think most women are angry with her for the fact that she STILL manages to look pretty inspite of the weight gain. Lets face it ladies.... we are all a little jealous of that fact. None of us have the confidence to gain THIS amount of weight and step out in public without feeling cautious. Hats off to this lady for her confidence

Why are people being so nasty and cruel towards her? Some even giving justification to defend themselves, if she has enjoyed compliments now she should handle the criticism too? As if she has committed some sin of calling herself as most beautiful woman in the world(which i dont think she did). What kind of criticism is that? People should learn the difference between criticism and uttering pure vile. She is also a human being like us. Give her a break. She may not be the most beautiful woman in the world, but she is indeed one of the most beautiful woman in the world. :)

women are such jealous creatures. If Aish had to lose weight right after pregnancy, there would have been comments on how she isnt a caring mother and how she cares only for her figure, looks, money etc. Everything she does attracts criticism.... just out of some jealous females.

femalequixote - I'm not "hung up" on her beauty or looks. You have to realise, that as someone who isn't a fan of Aishwarya, that her looks are the main thing we will talk about.
I mention Aishwaryas beauty in most of her posts because at the end of the day, TO ME, that's what she is known for. Most people that I know, who arent major fans of hers, know her for beauty. We know her as the beautiful woman who's acted in a couple of good movies. My husband was a fan of Aishwarya Rai, he even had her posters up whilst he was at uni. He is a massive movie buff, completley neutral when it comes to Bollywood and agrees with me and many others, that Aishwarya is wasted as an actress. Don't get me wrong, she CAN act. No doubt about it, but as I said before, unfortunately for her, she's known more for her looks.
She has built her whole career on being beautiful. Of course there will be backlash if she looks bad. It comes with the territory. I mean, Aishwarya is a superstar celebrity, it's expected.
Just because my username is MakeupCritic, and I have mentioned Aishwaryas looks, doesn't mean I'm that superficial by the way. Obviously I am gonna analyse one side of Aishwarya, to the general public that's what she's known for.

Aishwarya should come out and make a statement requesting the media not to refer her as "the most beautiful women"anymore if she and her fans finds all their criticism a big bother. If she want to keep the title and I am sure her PR uses it even today to promote her the way they did it in her Bride and Prejudice days she better loose weight, start looking fit and stylish and live up to her expectations. She didn't have any complaints or even showed humility when people heaped praise on her beauty worldwide. She accepted it like a scientist would accept noble prize for their discovery.
I am sure people will show same hatred and criticism if Hemamalini looked like Babita and still prefered to be called "dream girl" or even Sachin, ARRehman or lata Mangeshkar called themselves "the most talented" and gave consistent poor performance. You have a tiltle please own it by putting some effort or just disown it.

Agree with Barkha here, You go Ash, as long as she is happy. I am really glad that Ash does not give a damm to people. She is happy in her own skin. Also there is a slight chance that she might have some health issues or she could be preg again. or she is just happy being the way she is.. Its ok.. Its her decision what she wants to do with her weight so stop this nonsense.

They are competetive for men and looks.SO whenever they see ash ,their a!@# starts burning. They refuse to believe that aishwarya is beautiful or for the matter Megan fox or Angelina jolie. they find ways to deterioriate them. They use their filthy mind and to calm themselves they say that these women resorted to plastic surgery. This temporarily calms their mind and gives them hope that they are also pretty.... they search her articles on forums and bash these women and these shameless women are delighted when they see other negative comments on her. It relishes their fire of jealously in their mind.

I don't get how socially acceptable it is to make comments about any woman. It doesn't matter who they are, film star or the kaam wali bai it is still rude. I always used to defend women when guys used to call all women catty but now I think they're right. Women will always be mean, brainless gossips. the end.
Did anyone bother to actually read what Barkha said?? She has not criticized Ash, she's criticising the society we live in which is obsessed by a woman's weight despite all her achievemnts. BTW I dont like Ash, but I really dislike Barkha Dutt, she's always scremaing and shouting and never listening. BUt I dont think she was wrong here.

All I wanna say is that if you're in the public eye and constantly lap up the adoration of millions.....u shud be able to take criticism on your chin (or in Ash's case..her double chin) as well. It's not sexist if women have been commenting on her.....she an idol to many women across the globe, has used the 'most beautiful woman in the world' to her advantage (it was really ridiculous) and now she's just not ageing well. Happens to many and it's the media who is commenting more than people, the same media that Barkha Dutt is a part of, who makes Kareena's size zero a national debate....is now making Ash's humongous size an issue....big deal!! These ppl shud be used to it. And Barkha Dutt has to empathise given the fact that she weighs as much as a baby rhino herself....just got lucky with a small face so many can't really tell. Women treat their bodies as temples, today's women work HARD to maintain themselves.....so they have a right to voice their opinions too...last I heard this was still a free country..in which Baba's are allowed to call politicians rapists and murderers.......but talk about Ash's sizeable weight gain....oops...I guess that's worse!!
