Ya!! Yaa!! She signs a 20 Cr endorsement deal leaving every actress a mile behind(which will shut up all the detractors itself).She gets a dozens of movie offers(But I doubt u will believe it,but it'll get clear when she'll announce the projects).Channels discussing her weight today like a national issue.Ya! Right,downfall?.If it is,then every actress is a loser. Talent is the only reason(along with beauty,no denying it) she's here for more than a decade and has so many accolades and awards,and appreciation worldwide.
And Ash had her last performance in Guzaarish where she was tremendously appreciated and also received a string of awards for it.
@Femaquixote I agree with u!Some ppl,just wanna belittle Ash no matter what..But the fact remains,they cud only wish such success for their actress.Enough said!
well there should always be a limit to criticize a celebrity
we have got all the right to criticize them proffesionally but when
it comes to personal life there should always b certain lines which should not
be crossed, guess what they paying heavy price being a celebrity!!!

the fact is; Ash has had her time when she was beautiful and all that. Right now she doesnt look that great, in fact her look started changing a few yearts ago. Regardless of our oppinions you can tell from the photos that She DOESNT seem to feel beautiful at all.Accept the fact that she had it than, she doesnt have it NOW. xoxo
Like I said on a previous post on Aishwarya gaining weight - I think most women are angry with her for the fact that she STILL manages to look pretty inspite of the weight gain. Lets face it ladies.... we are all a little jealous of that fact. None of us have the confidence to gain THIS amount of weight and step out in public without feeling cautious. Hats off to this lady for her confidence.
And about referring her as a Powerhouse actress - I have mixed thoughts on this. She has come a long way from her first few movies like Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, Jeans etc. Usually, after being so long in movies, an actor usually becomes finer with their talent. For example just compare Saif Ali Khan's movies of the 90's and the present movies he does. He has a become a finer actor over the years! But in Aishwarya Rai's case, I have mixed feelings about her growth as an actress. Yes, I agree... she has done movies like Provoked, Choker Bali etc etc... but what about her performances in Raavan, Action Replayy etc? I agree they were bad movies.... but a fine actress would still manage to have her hold inspite of a bad film [for example an actress like Tabu, she has done some terrible movies, but she till manages to shine in them. And we cant really term her as 'unattractive' can we?] So I respectfully disagree with those of you who refer her as a powerhouse of talent. Because, she is not. There is a difference between a gifted actor and a trained actor. And Aishwarya Rai is a trained one. She can only act well, if the director of the movie trains her accordingly. A powerhouse of talent does not need training. :-)
She is no doubt India's most recognized face. And for that... we should thank the agent who got her the Loreal deal when things started falling apart for her in Bollywood post the Chalte Chalte fiasco [a fact that Rai has herself admitted to Simi Garewal in one of her interviews...... go ahead people, its on youtube in parts]. It is because of her Loreal deal she continues to be a face of India at Cannes. Now THAT is Rai's speciality ----> "modelling". And its not just because of her face that she is good at modelling. Being a model and being an actress are two different things. She is excellant at modelling and nobody can take away the grace and the panache that she brings to the ads that she does [Nakshatra, Lux etc just to name a few]. But her acting skills.... sigh!
I am not a Aishwarya Rai fan and neither am I a hater. I am just someone with a different perspective.
I don't understand why is this lady, Barkha Dutt, whoever she is, blasted for her opinions by some people. She has a right to her opinions like you and me had when we criticize Aishwarya or other stars for a million different things.
Makeupcritic: I'm sorry, but why are you so hung up on Aish's beauty? If I recall right, this is not the first time you say that Aish is all beauty and nothing else. Is this because you are generally interested by makeup artistry, fashion and outer appearance styling? I'm asking you just out of pure curiosity. You are just incompletely right in your statements, though, as you analyze just one side of the manifold Aishwarya has, or any other star has, for that matter.
Well, I'll repeat myself and say it again: Aishwarya is criticized for MANY THINGS, not just beauty fading,
she is one of those stars that are blasted for almost everything, practically every move, every word, every appearance. That's the price of fame.
When she was in her prime, people said that she wears contacts and she's full of plastic surgeries, and they still say that.
When she had a kiss scene in Dhoom 2, she and Hrithik were almost sued, although they weren't the first actors in India to kiss onscreen.
When she was pregnant, people said that she fakes her pregnancy or that she had an IVF for a boy or with European genes.
And some people are still bringing up Salman and Vivek in her posts, although those relationships are almost a decade old, and all three have moved on since.
The Heroine hullabaloo was also a hot topic, and Aishwarya was fully criticized, and although she wasn't entirely blameless, she got the most violent criticism.
Bottom line is this lady is called upon everything, and I only described the tip of the iceberg. She is one of those individuals that most people love to hate.
If you read Hollywood forums, you will see that the biggest Hollywood female stars are the most talked of, good or bad. Angelina is still called a homebreaker and a maneater after 7 years of steady relationship (Brad not too much) Natalie Portman is a homebreaker for many (her bf for just a few), and her child has been called b*** names for being born out of wedlock - these are just a few examples. Kate Middleton is just a social climber for many, uninterested in humanitarian causes or any serious issues, only fashion and make-up tips. All the bigger female stars are called unflattering names, or that are full of botox, plastic, that they are too skinny, too fat, too ugly, too old etc It's a double standard, as most of the forumers are females who criticize their own, and rarely blast the male stars.
How many times are male stars criticized?? It's so RARE. How many times have you seen Aamir or Saif being called upon their botox use on pv? The females, on the other hand, all the time. How many times males are called manwh*res for their marital infidelities or many short term relationship? RARELY. The females, on the other hand, almost all the time.
And the more famous the female star is, the female netizens' negativity towards them is direct proportional with that magnitude of fame. Add in there the typical feminine jealousy toward all kinds of female superiority (be in beauty, talents, popularity) and we'll have nice, long, but shallow forums debating subjects like double chins, bad make-up, bad hair, bad clothes, past love relationships, bad marriages, and all sorts of sordid gossip and idiotic trivial discussions.
Indian children/women are dying in poverty in rural regions, meanwhile Indian urban, posh females are indulging in the aforementioned trivialities. And I'm not judging anyone, only making a sociological observation.
Yes, I must agree with this Barkha Dutt lady: females are more than often misogynists toward their own sex.
Ash aunty & her PR are paying anyone they can find to defend her now that those horrid pics of her are circulating. Today you've heard Barkha tweeting about "unfairly criticizing" Ash's weight,tomorrow you'll hear Rajeev Masand writing a blind article defending Ash,next Amar Singh is going to tweet,then Manhoman Singh, then Pratibha Patil,then Oprah & Letterman. Then finally one day you'll even hear Ash Aunty paying Obama for giving speeches to defend her.For years ppl have praised her to the skies & kissed her boots,now let her get some fair share of her criticism. Other actresses have also been criticized before for many things but then their fans didn't act as lunatics & ppl didn't go twittering all the time.And Oxygen & Kitty you don't consider Sridevi,Madhuri,Juhi,Rekha,Vidya,Waheeda Rehman,Madhubala to be unattractive do you???In the west Kate Winslet & Cate Blanchett are considered to be serious actors,you consider them to be unattractive too??? Then how can you say that only unattractive ppl are considered to be serious actors?the truth is attractive or unattractive they're a much better actress than your goddess anyday.

Guys whose Barka?? about this issue people have every right to criticize but in a limit. Criticism is part of this industry. Look at pink villa people are so mean to other stars too..recently I saw someone comment about karishma having a duck face..I mean thats too much..You can call someone fat skinny hot but comparing her to an animal is just way out of limit. I have seen people comparing aish to an elephant too..thats too much guys.

Couldn't agree more!! Yes,she is regarded by too many people worldwide as the prettiest woman and been watched out for her irresistible beauty! But it remains that she is one of India's Powerhouse and best actresses.I don't know why ppl have strange beliefs like only unattractive ppl can act,even though some can only scream n shout..Ash is loved because of her talent equally.Whatever some detractors have to say!She is the most perfect mixture of BEAUTY,TALENT,BRAINS AND CONDUCT!

Its just Obsession!!Thats all!Aishwarya has always been the matter of discussion,no matter what!The lady has been scrutinized at every step of hers.And because anything regarding Aishwarya generates tremendous curiosity!And just because she is the world's most beautiful woman,she doesn't need to be picture perfect every second of her life.She's just wants to relax and enjoy the great and gratifying moments of motherhood..She knows her job very well,she'll shed the weight off whenever she wants.Now don't compare her to anyone else,every person have got their own metabolism.Constructive criticism is okay,but this is going too out of limit!

In pregnancy (9 months) the whole body of a woman grows to accomodate the life inside. It is so very natural. weight gained in 9 months will not disappear all of a sudden once the baby has taken birth. There is also water retention inside a human body which has given birth to a new life....thats the reason Ash and millions of other woman like her look bloated after childbirth ...very natural phenomenon .Stop critisizing her you blokes..your mum has surely gone thr this phase after you were born....

Arina you don't know who Barkha Dutt is?????? I'm shocked!!!!!She was the only Indian female journalist to report from Kargil during the Kargil War of 1999 & a very famous journalist. I don't support what she said about Ash or her 2G scam,but you should definitely be knowning about Barkha.

The tittle of the most beautiful woman in the world was well deserving! Millions of people, fans non fans, Indians non Indians agreed as other millions didn't or just considered her as one of the prettiest or the prettiest in India but not oustide.

I think her weight is fine for someone who is probably a lactating mother. I also think it's fine that she has not succumbed to pressure to look like a stick immediately after giving birth. But Aishwariya has always been famous for her looks. It's a profession where she MUST look glam & perfect all the time. Any actress who puts on the odd kilo or two is ripped apart by the press & the public . Those tent like outfits too don't help. Look at Lara Dutta,she has not lost weight, but she dresses up normally & looks attractive. If you are in the lime light,you have to deal with both -applause & brickbats.You can either ignore it (like Ash) or stay out of the lime light completely.
The reason it matters is because non actors like Aishwarya or Katrina for that matter, have made their career on their looks! They simply cannot act, the reason they are considered "actresses" is because they are only in bollywood for their looks. When someone like that, who made their career based on on their looks, even loses the looks than they are bound to criticism. Real actresses like Kajol and Rani gain weight and lose weight all the time but no one cares because they can ACT! Their career is based on acting not on looks!
Not only Aishwarya, but normal people get the heat when they gain weight...let it after or before giving birth. I don't understand why it rules our life. Inner beauty talk is just so and so. Everybody is obsessed with being beautiful and if your skinny thats a huge bonus. No wonder people do weird things to be accepted by our society.

Okay, let me explain something: the reason this is such a big deal is because, whether you see it or not, this image affects ALL women. Aishwarya is a beautiful woman...she's STILL a beautiful woman. Same face, just a changed body. So are you saying that beauty is ONLY about how thin you can be? How absolutely ridiculous is that? Have you never seen a gorgeous, full-figured woman? If you really can't see beyond the size zero craze, I feel sorry for you. What do you think it says about our society and about the media when a woman gaining weight is turned into a national issue? WHEN are women allowed to relax and not worry about their weight every second? Motherhood is supposed to be the pinnacle of womanhood, the most important time in a woman's life. But if a woman can't gain weight after having a baby, then when CAN she? Never? Is that what we're supposed to believe?
Aishwarya's beauty has been talked about for so long, and yes it has helped her in her career. But being born with a beautiful face and becoming famous for it doesn't mean the world OWNS you.
