@oxygen!
who said that Minisha Lamba's face wasn't visible? do you think they will post a photo of anyone on their website with an invisible face? will any photographer with their best camera take a photo with an invisible face? how is that possible? there dozens of photographer taking hundreds photos of anyone who attends the festival did all of them had photos of Minissha with an invisible face?
you better come up with any decent logic about why Minisha was mistaken as aishwary rai in Cannes 2011? and its not about photos on Cannes website it is when Minissha walked on red carpet and western media addressed her as aishwarya rai Loreal model.
"what a delicate small face and exquisite big eyes" - an ideal combo in beauty canons (I studied Aesthetics).
The best aesthetics are ones that are not studied but the ones that are innate. Her facial features lack sophistication and have a very exaggerated look to them. Not possessing a classicism you are eluding to.
To femalequixote
Aish a French model... U mean a white woman.... She looks like it with makeup and light . She is brown get ur eyes checked
I am from canada and she is not famous here .... Angelina Jolie n Kate Middleton are more famous here.

@MINISHAS FACE WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE

So have been writing this again and again on so many Ash posts.I have already responded to a similar comment in an another post.Though I think there is no need to explain,I am still Posting the same comment again now.
If u read that article of the Cannes appearances,its Minisha who has been humiliated(like the many other Indian stars,that yr ) It was a top shot pic and taken from a far distance where one couldn't view Minisha's face,and her peach gown was similar to Ash's,so she was tagged as Ash on the Cannes website.And Ash was ranked among the Best dressed that year on their website.And Please,Ash has been going there for a decade,she's is one of the jury members there and the first Indian to be chosen as a jury member there.She can showcase/promote her movies without any prior approval from Cannes and has showcased them out of competition.Or just for an example,you can go and google 'Cannes Film festival',the max. pics u see are of Ash.In fact u can see a separate division of 'Cannes film festival Aishwarya Rai' on the search window.And has been labelled as the 'Cannes princess' by many international journalists.Enough said! :-)
oxygen and kitty! both answer me one simple question that why Cannes 2011 Minissha Lamba was mistaken as aishwarya rai by western media? surly if aish was so famous wouldn't be it possible for media people tell the difference that Minissha Lamba is not Aishwarya Rai? wouldn't be it possible for western media to recognize the fact straight away the moment Minissha walked on red carpet that she is not aishwarya? are they not familiar with her face? if she is so famous in west as you people are claiming, should western media able to recognize her since she is attending last ten years?and her PR try to cover this news?
@femalequixote
thank u ... u said all i want to say ... & of course i am not indian.

Yes,I can doutlessly say that major Hw stars know about her.And whats wrong with being known internationally?Thats what every star/artist in any country dreams of.Of course,being known in your own country is a big achievement but International recognition is a notch above.Don't ya think?
I agree with @femalequixote 's comment.But Srk isn't as popular as Ash is,because he has had his work only in BW.Probably,he is 2nd most popular Indian star.And Ash has had some successful HW projects,and a lot of international exposure(eg. Cannes) and endorses some of the most prestigious international brands.In fact,in 2009,in a list of most bankable stars,Ash was named as the most bankable/popular Indian worlwide,and the list was topped by HW star Will smith.Talking about Will Smith,he has exclaimed his fondness for Ash a couple of times.He has also expressed that he wasn't happy that Ash turned down all of his films,and his great desire to work with Ash.And no one is saying Ash is a household name,she obviously isn't!Duh!Her work is primarily based in BW,which is the 2nd most popular film industry worldwide and obviously is much less popular than HW.But I couldn't ask for more and the best thing that Ash chose to do BW films and stayed in India.And chose to make quality choices mostly which justified her great talent.
@femalequixote
you like aishwarya, i get it and i'm not going to dwell on that but as far as 'ideal combo' for female beauty goes its a farce. Beauty comes in all shapes, features, and sizes and big eyes/small face is one of many combos that are beautiful. Charlize Theron was considered most beautiful because her facial dimensions replicate the golden ratio or some nonsense like that, is she beautiful? yes very, but is it an ideal standard of beauty? definitely not.
lol at that oxygen comment........every hollywood star knows aishwariya..... hahahahahahahahahahaha this is the biggest joke of the century..... some fans r so stupid that they r trying to show her as international star & all...... she is not even that much popular in india so forget about oversease.......her films bombs like hell at boxoffice... its good that she became mother & ended her career otherwise more producers & distributers money will be destroyed again & again.... she & her flop husband r good for nothing..all hype but in reality NOTHING......
I first saw Aishwarya in a L'Oreal CF on TV in early 2000s, can't remember the year exactly, but I remember thinking "what a delicate small face and exquisite big eyes" - an ideal combo in beauty canons (I studied Aesthetics) - and I watched the entire ad attentively, a rare thing for me. I thought she's a French model, the ad was in French. I can't remember when I heard the first time her name, feels like I always knew her...I was even a bit jealous of her when I read about Colin Firth making a movie with ex-Miss World Aishwarya Rai...I knew she played an Indian version of Elizabeth Bennet (I refused to see B&P in cinemas because of my despise of Bollywood movies in general), and Colin was the ultimate Darcy for me, so I didn't want to like their onscreen coupling (never went to see The Last Legion though, I was too busy with school) But in 2008, I was in UK, and my colleagues dragged me to cinema. I saw Jodhaa Akbar and I thought Bollywood it's not so bad after all, they have decent movies too, without cheesy parodical comedy and weird lip sync singing - an impression I got once when someone was watching a Bolly movie on TV and I refused to watch with them. And Aish and Hrithik...WOW. I got hooked on Indian cinema since then. I live in Europe btw (not France or Germany, countries known for appreciating cultural diversity), where Bollywood is not visible like in US or UK, and where at film fests we mostly have European and US movies. I'm not Indian either.
There is no denying that Aish is one of the most famous Indian celebrities overseas. She and SRK (and I'm no fan of him) are probably the best known Bollywood actors at the moment in non-English speaking countries. Aish is the global icon of 2000s Indian cinema for many. And of course, Freida is a raising star in US, but she doesn't represent Bollywood. That doesn't mean that they are households names like Angelina and Brad Pitt, just that they are the best known Indian celebs overall. And yes, the rest of Bollywood celebs are known primarly by NRIs across the world, but their non-Desi fandom is limited. In fact, non-Indian fandom of Bollywood/Indian Cinema is still lagging behind Hollywood, UK/European Cinema, Japanese Anime/Cinema or East Asian Cinema/TV dramas fandoms and fame across the world.
Now I'm waiting to get sarcastic pot shots as usual, just for being an Aishwarya fan and saying positive things about her. *sigh*
I'm curious if Oprah included a short interview with Aish, but I hope she focused more on the slums. The world needs to know more about the poverty of India, and Oprah is the best channel for that, simply because everybody knows her and she's influential in welfare issues etc.
@kitty
not everyone is here because they are celebrity worshipping sheep or they r on the payroll of some desperate star. Most of us come here to read news about bollywood in general because we love films, sure we might enjoy some actors more than others but some of us have the mental maturity to not get into fan wars. At the end of the day they are all entertainers, clows for hire if you will and it makes absolutely zero sense to fret over them obsessively. You seem like one of those 'if you are not team edward, you are team jacob' kind of people. Grow up, thats all I can say.
@oxygen
'every hollywood star knows about her'? seriously? I highly doubt that. Why are these fans so obsessed with making aishwarya some international celebrity? is she not happy and satisfied with the indian recognition? why is there such an alarming need for foreign validation?

"Bullying someone is not going to make her anymore special, just the opposite."... ummm yeah so what do you call saying "aishwarya has a mentally low class and uneducated fan base"? Hmmm?
Making such a mentally low class and uneducated statement anonymously does not make the fan base of your own favourite star look any better. It just seems like a hell of a lot of desperation. Maybe some day your favourite star will end up on Oprah, don't worry!
Kitty, are you all right? Trying to turn around things on me only makes you look like the low class fans I spoke of, but of course you're "official" on Pink Villa, so push on you brave soldier. I'm hoping my favorite star will be on some talk show some day? Wow, that's the dumbest thing I've ever read.

What a delusional fan. Actually you need to visit a doctor as soon as you can.
Gosh!Some guy/gal hiding behind the anon,n repeating the comments again and again won't do anything.Ash is the most well known Indian star worldwide,much much more popular than any BW star.She is the biggest International star.Every HW star knows about her.And is recognized by a major population worldwide ,which Indian stars can only wish.Her movies like Bride and prejudice have actually been the gateway to BW cinema for major non Indians .These facts are just too obvious!

those person claiming they live in toronto, usa, germany,france and saying that no person know aishwarya there..tell me if nobody know her..then how u guyr know her...ignorant people..or u guys must be animals or didnt come under human category to know her"
I DO live in Toronto lol! I went to IIFA last year :)
Anyways, I'm brown and I have watched films since I was little. That is how I know of her. But if you think she is all that popular here, you are wrong. That only time Ive seen a picture of Ash anywhere in Toronto (other than indian stores) is a little picture of her under the Loreal Mascara in a pharmacy store. She does not appear in any commercials either. I see more of Freida than of Ash..thankfully :)
She has done nothing to make India proud. All she does is plaster on loads of make up and wear expensive gowns. She goes to Cannes every year..big whoop. She hasn't done anything to give back to the community. The last thing I saw her do was the Cleft Lip ad and thats it. I rather look up to someone who gives back to the community. That's who people respect, people who use their popularity to try and make a change not someone who is known for her beauty (which is fading) and her husband's last name.
anyidea how many kids sleep without food in africa? go connect to your roots ophara.
...............................
INDIANS OWN IS VERY WORSE AMONG ASIANS. ALL U PEOPLE CARE ABOUT IS FAIR SKIN.
Fake firangi profiles, pics of two firangs asking her for autograph, Ash's PR will leave no stone unturned. What next? Lol still not very convincing, I live in the US, only Indians are gaga about her.
aishwarya has a mentally low class and uneducated fan base...who gets carried away by beauty. I like aishwarya but hate her fans,they get so exited and desperate for her and its embarrassing!her eyes are gorgeous!
So true. I don't care if people like her but her fans get crazy. I mean really crazy, like foaming at the mouth crazy. Why insult or call someone jealous just because they don't find her to be the end all of all time? Just seems like a hell of a lot of desperation which makes it even more obvious she's all hype. This is her personality, she knows how to rile up people to get attention. Be a fan, that's fine, but don't be a victim of someone else's agenda. Bullying someone is not going to make her anymore special, just the opposite.
Some people here are desperate to say something bad on Aish, but the thing is they end up saying stupid things...Why not give Aishwarya her due?? I am French and I know BW thanks to Bride and Prejudice so wat's your pb?? By DENYING all her achievements you just pass for a moron...
And when we'll see Oprah's episode and if Aish is really in it, why can't you just be happy that the West is interested in BW?? Just chill out people!! Your jealousy is just obvious! If it was your favourite star in this video you wouldn't be sayin those stupid remarks so stop being hypocrites... lol
And Aish isn't the PM of India so she has the right to live in a big house!! She's not responsible for the slums, and she does A LOT of charity work so stop the nonsense... Ufff Aishwarya's haters are the worst, very dumb...
PV please post
@Wed, 2 012-04-18 18:54 — Anonymous: You sure did spend much time on shedding a negative light on aishwarya rai for being a non-hater. It's your opinion of how she carries herself and looks, but when you say that she married for money you're funny. She makes more money than Abhishek with her endorsements, she always did. If you don't like her don't waste your time here by stating facts, which are only your opinions. Go and watch Jun Ji Hyun movies instead of writing essays on people you don't like.
Telling people she doesnt work out to lose weight is setting a bad example, she should start working out
Keep it up, keep making her #1. :)
ash is beautiful and everyone in the world knows her
