What should Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wear to the Cannes Film Festival?
Its that time of the year again, Yep you've guessed it. Festival de Cannes from 16th to 27th May 2012. Although the Festival is held to encourage networking and interaction between all those involved in the different film industry's around the world. It also attracts many Celebrities who grace the event to promote their films or brands that they represent. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of many International Celebrities who represent L'OREAL PARIS at the Festival. As her fan i'm making this post to give my thoughts on what i think in my opinion will look good on her regardless of her age or her weight be it on the red carpet, photo calls or interviews. I think Aishwarya carries herself with grace, poise, is charming and shows lots of confidence.

This time she should wear a saree, to look elegant while she is losing her flab. She got whole life to wear gowns , saree is the need of the hour at the moment.
i still cant fathom why people cry foul when a top notch actress doesnt wear a saree at international events... its simply their choice!!
howevr applauding when they choose to do dat is different.

"Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a gorgeous girl, irrespective in what shape she is in; it doesn't matter!" says designer Pria Kataaria Puri. Puri suggests a classic, elegant yet an understated glamorous ensemble for her, that would enhance her beauty and aura and not necessarily her body. "I think she should wear an elegant off-white, black or blush pink sari with beading, or crystals or sequin border and embellished blouse - not overly sexy but more stylish," she adds. If Ash does want to pick a Western look, then it should be a draped and not fitted silhouette. "She could opt for a strapless black gown in chiffon teamed with a shawl or scarf in black," Pria adds.
Or, she could wear a long kaftan to hide her weight, says Leena Singh of Ashima-Leena. "She could enhance the outfit with some applique with muted thread work. The colour black would be ideal. Less embellishments will make sure she doesn't look big," she says.
Aishwarya is enjoying her motherhood phase. "I don't see weight as an issue here; she still looks beautiful," says designer Nachiket Barve. "I think the red carpet could be a great opportunity to promote healthy beauty. If you ask me, I think Aishwarya is a mix of elegance and modernity. A blend of Indian and Western styles can be a good combination for her on the red carpet," he says. But, designer Maheka Mirpuri is more precise when it comes to her fashion advice to Ash. "It definitely has to be a sari. She has a great height and face. And on the red carpet it will be a novelty," she says. Considering her body type, Maheka feels that Mrs Rai-Bachchan should choose minimal colour, maybe coral and emerald as they are the colours of the season. "Thin fabric like chiffon with a delicate border is what I recommend. Also, the blouse can be V-neck with a low sexy back with three quarter sleeves," she says.
Designer Shaahid Amir admits that he's biased because he is extremely fond of Aishwarya. "She is the most beautiful woman and has a sense of Indian aesthetics," he quips. Like Maheka, he too hopes that Ash will wear a sari to the French film festival. "Maybe a Bengali ensemble like the one she wore in the movie Devdas. I am sure she will be able to knock out some weight to look her best," he smiles. Designer Manoviraj Khosla agrees. "Aishwarya defines elegance, class and beauty. Given the circumstances, she should opt for an Indian look. Avoid something that's body hugging or something that would accentuate her curves. A churidaar kurta which would hide her curves is a good option," he advises.
She should not go!! What a shame that whole world will see our Aish as a fat tuntun :(

Why when her haters logic goes for a toss, when they make ridiculous claims about her saying that she is actually a dark woman and she whitens herself, so what's so stupid if she says that she has put up so much weight because she wanted to take a break just to enjoy motherhood. Makes sense.

All i was trying to say is that regardless of her shape at the moment,she still has that gorgeous face,and one of the most stunning pair of eyes.Beauty is not something to be associated with one's figure alone.

Are you discriminating against heavier women? Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors.
Just because Ash is not in shape anymore does not mean she's not beautiful.

She should wear a saree, that is what soooooo many people have been waiting to see her in! I think she can ROCK in a gown that is long, maybe a blue or purple color. Nothing poofy though.

she has always refused to wear Indian clothes at Cannes as she claims to wear only what Loreal gives her.
even this time, she is going to represent Loreal.. so i guess she will wear a gown.
Loreal will have to find some elephant size gown or maybe circus tent to fit her.

As u urself have mentioned that she is not representing India over there so why do u expect her to wear indian outfits? She is representing the company to whom she is serving as a brand ambassador. Obviously she will have to wear what they will be giving her. So what exactly is ur problem with her?

I think she'll go for a Ellie saab and/or Armani for her two day-appearances,as they have been her favorites.Hope she has lost some weight.She carried herself very well last year and looked great.So I would have loved if her body looked like what it did last year atleast..In my opinion,Sari would not be good choice at all.I like the last Dior one in particular.Surely awaiting her appearances!
