Akshay and Karan to produce a film together

Two of the most sought after producers, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar are all set to produce a film together to be directed by Punit Malhotra. Akshay will be playing one of the leads in a two-hero film, and shooting will begin early next year.

Karan Johar will reveal the second hero next week. "I can't divulge too much now. But what I can definitely say is that the movie is mainstream and has a very strong underlying social message. It's solid and hard-hitting. Punit brought me this amazing script. I immediately approached Akshay and he was equally thrilled with the idea."

On working with Akshay, Karan states, "If Dharma Productions has to collaborate with Akshay, then it has to be the right kind of film. And, as I said earlier, this one, apart from being commercial, has a strong voice."

Even Akshay told Times of India, "We're two very passionate producers with one great aim — to entertain. Both Karan and I want to make our fathers proud. Cheers to our new venture."

Hiroo Johar and Twinkle Khanna will serve as co-producers. Karan and Twinkle have been best friends since childhood. "This association is not just professional, but also emotional. I've known Tina since the age of four. I'm so excited that she and my mother are co-producers.

Punit Malhotra is currently working on a romance starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan for Dharma Productions.
