i think i remember seeing in one of mahesh bhatt interviews that it was pooja who suggest he embrace his muslim side to marry soni razdan while still being married to kiran (pooja's mother) - i think it was that show with farookh sheikh

Alia's grandmother is german or something. And Pooja Bhatt's mom was ... british ? I guess Mahesh Bhatt has a type.

Anyway, Pooja Bhatt's mom grew up in an orphanage where Mahesh Bhatt secretly met with her, the movie Aashiqui is based on their love story. Too bad that in real life he ended up cheating on her with Parveen Babi among others.

It's interesting that Bhatt's wives are not pure indians...Alia's mother Soni Razdan is a British-born actress of Kashmiri-German lineage... Pooja Bhatt has Scottish, Armenian and Burmese ancestry on her mother's side.

Soni Razdan comes from Kashmiri Lineage. So I guess, Alia's maternal side is European as can be seen from her grandmother.
