Student of the Year Theatrical trailer + Synopsis
Here is the synopsis: STUDENT OF THE YEAR The road from youth to adulthood is paved with myriad emotions and Student Of The Year celebrates this colorful coming of age. It is the story of Abhimanyu Singh (Sidharth Malhotra) and Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan) who traverse the path of competition, envy, triumph, failure, manipulation and heartbreak in their mini-universe of St. Teresa’s High School, Dehradun. Abhimanyu Singh a.k.a Abhi comes from a middle-class family and wants to achieve great heights of success and prosperity, the first step to which will be the Student of the Year trophy while Rohan Nanda a.k.a Ro, is the son of a business tycoon who grapples with a complex relationship with his father and knows that winning the Student Of the Year trophy will bag him the approval that he subconsciously craves for. When the two protagonists with distinct backgrounds and clear goals clash with each other in the locker room, football field and the canteen, there is no question in anyone’s mind that the preset equations of the St.T’s campus were about to change. When Abhi and Rohan’s rivalry takes an unexpected turn to friendship, neither pre-empts the complications that would brew. Things are further knotted up when Shanaya Singhania (Alia Bhatt), the most popular girl on the campus enters the equation. While Shanaya and Rohan are childhood sweethearts, Abhi’s attraction for his best friend’s girlfriend and Shanaya’s quiet reciprocation causes a rift in their friendship that would have a long lasting impact. Looming large over the various friendships in the campus is the Student Of The year trophy and Dean Yogendra Vasisht’s (Rishi Kapoor) emphasis on success and victory. Towards the end of the term, the foes-turned-friends-turned foes, Abhi and Rohan, are ready for a face-off and battle lines are drawn through the length and breadth of the campus, with only one goal in everyone’s eyes --– Student Of The Year Trophy. As new ambitions are born and old loyalties fall by the wayside, each segment of the Student Of The Year competition manages to tear apart both, the participants and the spectators, to redefine the choices of the three protagonists. What will Abhimanyu choose? Victory or Friendship?

Just like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, but Karan has ripped off all the innocence of youth. They are supposed to be in school for heaven's sake - an extremely artificial looking Indian school too! A lil' like the Tamil Kaadal Desam where college going rich Abbas & the poor Vineet are enemies, become friends , fight over Tabu & become enemies again.
Story not striking any chord in me...maybe cos' im 26!
Alia looks like a student, the guys look like her 30 year old professors
She looks so much like pooja bhatt
Films like these discourages normal people from entering/even trying into Bollywood. From the assistants to the new-comers, most of them have industry connection. And the normal people who have ambitions and the talents to enter Bollywood are listening to their elders and pursuing Science degree in school.
SOOO TRUE
It feels very old. Been there done that kind of vibe. Won't be awaiting this one..
This one is going to be WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!

i think we are giving this film undue publicity, check out the number of comments! (even if majority of the comments here is criticism or mockery)
He probably got inspired by gossip girl/Hight School Musical when he made this movie. If you can find it in your heart to forgive our dear Karan Johar for not having any realistic material and putting over the top glossy characters in this movie, I think this movie might just turn out to be an out and out entertainer. My advice keep your brain shut to logic/reality for the span of the movie and enjoy. BTW Varun Dhawan is hawwwwwwwwt.
@Voicewriter Thanks:))))
@PizzaPasta I dunno how you can laugh at my comment(s) when your comment is 1000x funnier. I'm on the floor rolling and laughing not sure if I can get up from laughing so hard. And to think, just yesterday KJo was quoted as saying "AFTER 'MY NAME IS KHAN' I HAD TO MAKE A FILM THAT WAS LARGER THAN LIFE..." Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! A better title for this film would be 'JOKE OF THE YEAR' lol.
every one knows karan never cant handle the criticism...just look at his face everytime he is going to realse a film....he is just awful....affraid....weird n seems too nervious...and...and honestly i feel not that much bad
that one time he get fail....really...why not....why he shuld always be the winner????
too much winnig make him feel...."oh...who i am...wot a perfect i am"....nd he is not!
becoz he has srk...or money...or gr8 family...i think he needs a failur to grow up...
he is a kid yet!!! nd he thinks whole the world is here to support him n love wot he makes...why?
he is kid...this is why he cant bear criticisms nd dislikes....nd then he deletes them!!!!
REPORT CARD FOR STUDENT OF THE YEAR:
Concept:F grade
+Songs:Z grade
+Actors:F grade
+Originality:F grade
+Realism: -F grade
=FAIL GRADE.
Don't know why it ever got a trophy.
Only grade it'll get is in unoriginalty and lame rip offs of Hollywood teen films. Sad considering how I once upon a time loved KJO's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!!!
And LOL @Voicewriter nothing but respect for your comments!!!!!!
What a piece of crap, maybe that's y they removed the rating bar on youtube........FLOP!
i hope its not boring like mohabbatein!!!
---------------
I hope it will be like mohabbatein,so romantic
will succeed and you will all see
I never bothered to check the youtube page but yeah, only positive comments are posted and ratings have been disabled. The positive comments are probbaly from Dharma staff/friends and associates of the staff/friends and associates of the cast/PR and Marketing team.
Maybe they should've let the ratings be on and the trailer would've become (in)famous like Rebecca Black's Friday? Karan is all about marketing and 'so bad its good' is a lot better than 'meh'.
How cheap they deleted all the negative comments. Karan can't handle criticism !!!! He should now be scared of the Opening.
ok. Alia looks a lil like her sister Pooja but Pooja is wayyyy too prettier and attractive than her.
People here are so cynical and negative. These people have worked so hard for this movie, atleast give them a chance instead of tearing them apart after watching a 3 minute trailer.
Yeah I noticed that too, only positive comments, Karan is probably freaking out right now deleting comments day and night! LOL
he has already turned viewers off the movie by disabling the dislikes and negative comments...
poor handling
@Kitty @VoicesWriter
I am pretty sure karan is behind this. :P also there is only positive comments on the trailer, how is this possible? all negative comments get deleted, the trailer had more dislikes than likes the last time I checked, the dislikes were clearly ahead and all of a sudden the ratings got disabled.now whoever goes on the trailer sees no ratings ONLY positive comments,I guess karan wants to make people believe that everyone is looking forward to this.haha AT LEAST they had the guts to leave the ratings on the joker trailer,it had many dislikes, too and way too many negative comments but at least shirish kunder is not as insecure as karan when it comes to criticism.KJO seems quite sensitive,na?
Actually this was shot in a real high school in Dehradun and many of those students are from that high school...However obviously Karan added extra things to make it seem more glamorous but there are schools like this in India and Dehradun is one of the best places I have visited
OMG it's true the ratings bar on YouTube is gone, that's a baaad sign for the movie! The trailer seems to be a flop, are they really deleting the -ive comments too? Yikes!
Bahahahahaha!!!!! I bet Kjo disabled the ratings himself.

-----------------
YES I noticed that too! xD all negative comments get deleted.only good comments on the trailer,I have a feeling karan is behind this. :P he can't handle criticism.
