VINTAGE: Sharmila Tagore's bikini shoot fo Filmfare magazine - 1966
The first Indian actress to get into a bikini for a magazine cover, Sharmila created quite a hullabaloo when the magazine hit the stand, the matter was even questioned in the question hour of the parliament. The story goes that when Sharmila Tagore walked into the studio of photographer Dhiraj Chawda, he asked her what was she going to wear for the shoot and Sharmila Tagore just took out the suit from her purse.

amazing. She had an amazing figure, and what a bengali beauty. Her movies were bold just like her. I appreciate Sharmila Tagore for that. She always stood out. I do recall in one of her interviews though, that she regrets doing these bikini shots. But she rocked it!!! No photoshop whatsoever. These days the girls are all plastic. This is called natural beaut.
Remember guys, photoshop didn't exist then. What you see is totally real! You go girl! :D

There is nothing wrong in a bikini photo shoot/ Let people talk. It's not a crime. Such a woman who defies norms and has a free outlook from all the expectations gains my respect. And it's Sharmila we are talking about. She is already classy and talented, and this touch adds boldness to her profile.
JUST GAWJUSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Amazing considering that this shoot had been done during an era of no photoshop or surgeries or excessive working out, she comes out being much sexier & beautiful than all actresses today. P.S. I think Kareena felt threatened when she saw these photos of how breathtaking her future mum-in-law was!!!!!!

40 years later and the bikini in film is STILL a talking point! We haven't come very fair in Bollywood have we? Sharmilla was a feisty, opinionated, daring actress and today she oozes class and grace. Just goes to show it's not what you wear (or once wore) but who you are that matters.

Kyun?? Why are you talking about bikini in films still being a 'talking point'. Aap pehenayngi aisee bikini? Bohot modern hain aap?? Its a big deal in Pakistan/India okay. Not because bikinis are skimpy, or because people are shy to wear one or anything, but madamji if you go to a beach in Pakistan/India in a bikini, peeople will stare the heck out of you. I bet you don't even have the body to wear something like this, people just bari baatein karna jantay haen.
I do not know why she did this shoot in 1968 when girls didnt go out of their homes after 6pm..and totally needless too!
