Indian skin color is so diverse! Can't categorise as Dusky and Fair. There are so many shades from very dark to wheatish to golden and kashmiri white to light brown, peachy and it's like categorsing Lipstick colors.
Not all of the above women have the same complexion, they vary slightly.
Vidya is fair and not dusky...agree with rest of them. Maybe its character requirement in Kahaani, vidya may have been made to look like that...

You might have to get your eyes checked.Sonakshi is anything BUT dusky.And please don't get your "oh fair actresses have not had easy starts" ;most of these fair actresses you mentioned are THE MOST TALENTED actresses of the industry.I am not saying fair means more talent,just asking you to get your facts right.
I agree with Samia Khan dusky complexion is more photogenic than light skin tone.
Shilpa Shetty is not dusky! got most right....I am a dusky Indian and everyone loves my skin tone.
Absolutely loved your post. I'm indian and black and the the women here go crazy for my features. It made me realize that if a few do not like my skintone,but many love it. The dusky beauties need to realize that even though you are not appreciated in your home country ( India) other countries go mad for it, but still being appreciated by your own country is wanting.

you are wrong Fiza Khan... Asin,Lara,Malaika,Vidya are definitely not Dusky...you need to search what "dusky skin" is used for!! Dusky is used exclusively for people who doesn't fit the category of wheatish and who are not fair or white either,it is used for brown and dark brown and to some extent black people as well...they are called Dusky...they dont like to call them brown so they invented a more acceptable and sweet word "Dusky"...and it sounds good too.Rani,Deepika, Nutan,Rekha,Kajol almost all the actress mentioned here are Dusky but Asin,Mallaika,Vidya and Lara are not,they are on wheatish side.
i think mahi gill (dev.D, paan singh tomar, SB&G) is also dusky and beautiful .... ooh, how i forgot her, i think you should include her in your most underrated actress post aswell (if i m not making any mistake that post was also made by you, right? )

All they dusky ones become light over the period of times at least in their films and photoshoots. Bipasha is prime example and Priyanka too.

As far as I know the fair actresses struggled for years initially..Karishma,Kareena,Katrina,Aishwarya(who inspite of every advantage..had to wait for HDDCS years later)
Right now too..Anushka,Kangana are struggling to get films..so are Nargis,Zarineetc..where as the dusky actresses like Sonakshi and others mentioned above have had it easier..
Who have been the fair actresses?Karishma,Mamta Kulkarni,Manisha Koirala,Amisha..rest are all olive skinned of various shades..

Sushmita sen is dusky, Vidya is not as dusky as bipasha and Priyanka.
Its a wrong that Dark skinned actresses struggle in India. I think light skin ones have to face more challenge, because they have to prove themselves more than darker ones. People think light skin ones get thinks easily and are thus more tougher with them than darker. People have a sense of sympathy with darker ones than lighter one.

Most of these actresses have olive skin and aren't that dark without makeup except Vidya and Rani....Bipasha is not dark at all she is quite light like her mum but she tans A LOT coz she believes dusky skin is better looking.

I find this post to be racist and offensive. What is wrong with fair skinned actresses? I've noticed that they get hated on here based on their fair skin alone. Dusky skin looks good on screen. I'm dusky and I noticed that my photos and videos r better than my mirror looks.
Thank you for this post. I do not see anything racist in this post as opposed to the amount of criticism you have been faced with. I see the good intentions behind this gesture and I'd like to say thank you. Enough of those demeaning adds that encourage the idea that when one is fair skin their life is easier in comparison to someone who is not where they have to struggle more. UFFF there's so much drama over skin color. Dusky skin is as beautiful as fair skin. I'm always appalled by people here criticizing fair skin and Katrina blah blah blah. All types of skin colors are beautiful!
Like Whateva, I have enough people telling me that I'm as pale as a bleached whale here, and that i need to go out more.. Who care about dusky or fair or better features... 'Beauty is as Beauty does', IMHO.
