Chitragadha has beautiful features and so gorgeous. Reminds me of the lovely Smita Patil.
She was best in Hazaron Khwaihisein Aisi though, all natural and fresh.
Vidya doesn't really fall into the 'dusky' catgeory, IMO.
there are many more dusky like juhi chawla and i dont think so that vidya is one of them
im dusky and I LOVE IT ! ... Dusky does not equal not pretty enough! I hate when ppl say "Omg she is so pretty... she is so fear" You OFTEN hear indian aunties using such a line!... Beautiful does not mean fair! Some of the most gorgeous women I know are dusky with the most exotic of features! ...Ladies love the skin you are IN!... its the only one youve got! So PROUDLY flaunt it!

omg if some one did atribute to the white skin beauties of bollywood aishwarya-kareena-karishma-anushka-priety-madhuri-sonakshi-katrina and turned this (And trust me they don't need any fairness cream instead we need adusky cream which will make our skin as perfect as them) to (trust me we dont need any tan instead we need fairness cream which will make our skin as perfect as them) everybody will scream about how racist is this and every skin is beatiful in there ways as white brown or black and becouse of this tribute indian girls donot feel confedent about there own skin ..????????? how hebocrotice people u r:/
Sadly, most of these people are so white washed now, they aren't dusky beauties anymore. To be honest, people didn't like Priyanka when she was her natural dusky; so don't know if she can be considered as 'dusky beauty'. The only person in here true to that name is Nandita Das. And ofcourse, she didn't do any commercial films so didn't have to do tons of make up. Smitha Patil was alwasy very pretty too; with or with out make up.
Why call them dusky?
They are just the normal color that majority of Indians are.
And that color is never shown in commercial Hindi films. These women are always white washed in films, photos, magazine shoots.

I agree Kitty, coloured contacts look creepy. Embrace your true eye colour divas! There are so many foreigners who have brown eyes,they don't use blue-green contacts.
Some people are suggesting really crazy names like SriDevi, Vidya, etc... to include in dusky... if someone isn't Kapoor Khandaan standards fair it doesn't mean they are dusky.. Sridevi, Madhuri, Vidya are considered fair among Indians, complete Indians not a mix..
Anyways, great post.. I find Chitragandha and Deepika the best among Dusky beauties!! Rani's complexion isn't completely dark like her cousin's... it's shifting depending on her shoots and exposure to sun..call her wheatish beauty! I really don't like Bipasha.. I wouldn't have liked her in any complexion! Plus Malaika.. I hate her
Your post is brilliant but I must say if the actresses were to look at this post, they would cringe and protest saying they are not dusky!!! Example: Rekha and Priyanka Chopra whose plastic surgery and permanent bleaching we all know about ;)

Priyanka should go in the "formerly dusky" list. She's clearly lightened her skin. The rest, though, are gorgeous women. Smita Patil is a stunner.

For me I can never forget the bewitching beauty of Nandita Das in Earth 1947... she was impossibly gorgeous and I loved how they didn't lighten her skin with makeup and how beautiful and natural she looked, especially with her gorgeous dark brown eye colour.
Deepika is also stunning (I picked up that issue of Vogue with the above pic in in... just to see that awesome photoshoot) but I wish she would embrace her natural eye colour. Same criticism about the eye colour could apply to some of the other above who look better without colour contacts: Bipasha, Chitrangada, PC, etc.
Smita Patil was another striking dusky beauty and again her dark eyes added so much to her ability to express and emote... watching her on screen is actually hypnotic!
In this post bipasha looks the most beautiful. But I think Chitrangada is the best dusky beauty then Rani and Vidiya though i think Vidiya isn't dusky.

I dont think Vidya Balan or Asin belongs to dusky category.. And Freida Pinto deserves a special mention, although not a 'bollywood' actress! She is one of the few to happy to be in her own 'SKIN'!!
