The ITEM brigade of Bollywood YAY or NAY?
Well few years ago this tag "item song" or "item girl" was not considered as a very respectable and popular term among the top actresses of Bollywood. Some actresses were there but only to do item songs but then time started to change and now if we see almost every actress of Bollywood has done an item song in any movie. And now the popular lines between directors is "Movie hit kerwani ha tu aik item song dal do" Whats the reason behind all this? Should we blame the actresses or audience or directors? Or none this should happen more?

aishwarya doesn't look "vulgar/sleazy'' even if she wants to ..and she is good dancer ... well she looked "vulgar/sleazy" in ishq kamina where she danced in the rain.. maybe you should watch the song.. it is very hot!!
i am HATER .....
but really think that aish doesn't look "vulgar/sleazy'' she is beautiful but not sexy/hot...
there is something artificial about her ........
@Falling Star - hey thanks :) I do respect your opinion. I think Bodyguard had a good story, I dunno why, but it was romantic and catched my heart...maybe it's just the way I like it ... MAYBE. I didn't like Ready tht much! Thot the movie was VERY lousy and had unnecessary things....But the reason why these movies were hit has also to do with "Salman Khan." Everyone loves seeing him, not the item song obviously. I agree with u in the point that there are soo many movies which deserves more box office success like Udaan, I am, etc...but maybe if Salman or Shahrukh or Aamir were in these underrated movies, the movies could have got a LOT more box office success. U knw india is full of fans of such actors.

All these songs are so repetitive and end up looking like clones of each other. Only Kajra Re dared to be different and became a cult.
what is wrong with seeing an "item" girl song??
woman are beautiful, they are sensual and very pleasing to look at. I don't think its objectifying them in n e way. Women are gods gift to the world. When i see an item song i don't see an "object" i say to myself wow, girls are so damn hot. women like to look good, wear make up, be pampered and like attention, that's an honest truth. Which girl wouldn't want to be pampered and treated like a princess? Women love that attention and i don't think it's anything wrong for a girl to dance if she has the looks and moves to do so.
Aish does not belong with these wannabes, together with Malaika they are in a higher-class league of dance and item. Please apologise to Aish and Malaika for pasting their pics here.

Before you saw item numbers rarely nw thy r thre wthout any reason jus so tht heroines shw their skin n bring sme audience to movies!
Evn the other songs in movies r cheap n faltu bcoz all u get to c is goris wearin nothing n dancing which is so cheap!
U never get to c indian dancers if ur an indian n ur movie is bollywood film not hollywood y r u so into evrythn english !

I love what you people call item songs..as long as the songs are nice and entertaining and pleasing to watch I dont mind..so YAY from me
No matter we say yay or nay for these items number.
We as an audience makes them hit whether they are good or bad.
Personaly I don't mind seeing a hot girl dancing on masala song in a movie whose presence somewhere justifies the situation but it should not be unnecessary and vulgar.
Some are good some are not... Some work, some don't... As long as they are entertaining and work well with the film, its fine...

i truly respect ur openion but in my opinion, bodyguard was a CRAP, ready was okey tho
but my point is that the amount of money they collected i.e. bodygaurd- 151 cr, ready-125 cr and even soething like h2 -111 cr. there r so many other movies which actually deserve to do this much business.

This whole item song thing is getting old and annoying. It's pretty sad how you need an item song to make a movie a 'hit'. I miss the classics.

Bodyguard & Ready are good movies...
Do not get the point of housefull 2 becoming a success?! Maybe because housefull 1 was a hit and had a better story, people expected this one to be equally good or funny! People loves funny movies....and this is wht they expected from this movie.
Salman made munni the best
Its such a pity that a woman is disgraced so badly. Why is everyone bend on promoting woman as an object and liked just for her body and looks .Its truly a shame that we humans are lossing our morals and people don't even realize it .

Item songs are the movie which promotes a movie more than what its actors does to it.
Coz when the trailers break out, ITEM SONG is the one which gets more concentration for its SEXINESS....
Thats the reason its used as a key to promotion

But My opinion is:
1. Actresses shouldn't do Item no. in there own movie... Eg. Chikni Chameli is better then shila ki jawani
2. Actresses should do rare item no.s like once in 4/5 years
3. It shouldn't be too raunchy... for raunchy ones we have Item girls, go for classy songs only...
Real movies with good storyline are going to be hit anyways - they do not need such trash, for ex - Department had Nathalia Kaur with Dan Dana or whatever - got negative reviews. While movies like - Kahaani, Rockstar, Don 2, were critically acclaimed.
I mentioned about this before -
Items songs should go with the movie's script but I do not get the point of putting an "item" song in EVERY freaking movie possible. If a movie is good, they do not need have such item songs, for ex - Kaahani. Item songs are sometimes good to watch, but an item song in EVERY movie makes you feel bored & annoyed. Some of the item songs are not even good - HORRIBLE and some of the item girls SUCK....and directors are launching such item girls every time...
Please - even they are Running out of item girls & songs. This is what I say - in Bollywood directors think such cheap masala movies are going to work, but the truth is these days even audience are very clever, they do not go for "item songs" they go for "amazing" story line. Despite Sheila Ki Jawani being a hit, TMK was a flop, while Kahaani did not even have any item song. While Bodyguard or Dabang got popularity due to Salman Khan and it's good story. Directors should stop misunderstanding the fact tht item songs are the reason why a movie might be a hit.
The item girls cannot even dance! These days I watch Channel V, and there is an item song after very 1 minute. I am SOO annoyed & bored :@:@:@:@::@:@:@:@@@@@@@@@@@. All sounds SOOO similar - trashy! Just imagine Hollywood watching these movies lol...esp Russell Peters...they will "LMAO or LUL"....
