Emraan Hashmi covers Cineblitz - June 2012 (HQ covershoot + excerpts)
BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE - Emraan Hashmi
The not-quite-kosher tag attached to his name is being swiftly erased with the mighty Chopras and Johars inviting him in. NICHOLA PAIS catches up with the successful and justifi ably smug (only a little!)Emraan Hashmi.
His PR team is inordinately afl utter over all the trappings surrounding the photo shoot. It’s enough to make you wrinkle your nose as you jump to the most logical conclusion: Mr. H has turned snobbish star – must virtually all of them succumb? Star, check, snobbish, not really, you realise when he walks in, lean, mean and muscled, and flashing that crinkly-eyed smile. Everyone around is visibly hooked. He’s co-operative without overdoing it and the shoot goes off like a breeze, the atmosphere tensing just once when he slips out of a shirt and into a tight tee right there! No one can help gawking, manners be hanged! Soon we’re ensconced at an adjoining table, wondering how he manages to look so unruffl ed when we know how tricky it’s been pinning him down between hectic shooting schedules, nation-wide fi lm promotions and all the umpteen other activities that make up a star’s life, the maddening yet charmed life that he’s lucky to be living...
“It’s maddening, yes. I’ve not had an off since... I think the last time was New Year. There’s always something just jammed into the day. A lot of films I’ve completed, the spill-overs from shoots last year, are happening now. But it’s wrong to complain – work is always good! But ya, sometimes it gets to you. You need a breather. I’m waiting for mine; a family holiday in Amsterdam, before I go mad and need to be admitted to a hospital!” he grins, tucking into sliced apple and hot water – “bad cold; can do without the caffeine.”
