Are you bloody blind? Archie Panjabi looks every bit as ethnic as Pinto if not more so in her facial features. And in a sea of perfect pretty people in Hollywood, she might not even be considered moviestar beautiful. Are you referring to skin color because though Pinto may be a few shades darker, Panjabi is brown to the business, too, dear. Yeah, it's so random Archie's won numerous awards and accolades in her native England and America for her work and talent without a bunch of Hollywood big-wigs on her side. She's understated, respectable and intelligent. Time will tell if Pinto has what it takes to gain real respect in Hollywood, and if she does, good for her. Let me say it again, because perhaps you had trouble understanding the first time: it's a matter of taste. So, you're entitled to your opinion, but others are equally entitled to theirs. I didn't resort to slinging insults, but since you did, if you had any real knowledgeability of how people go about gaining respect in the dirty world of showbusiness, you would have had a better argument. So actually, you come across as transparent, desperate, and utterly stupid.
.
Arhcie Punjabi is more talented than Freida but Freida got lucky woth slumdog. Comparing these two women is strange because Archie has proved to people that she can act and Freida still hasn't.She has been getting small roles and her acting in those are even bad! She also has the help of Loreal , and I think they regret signing her because she is not really that famous in india or interantionl platform. In the world of endorsements , you hire people that will get you money , not someone who people don't know or dislike.

I just don't get this unreasonable resentment against Freida. How is it her fault that Dev , Archie and other Asian are not getting theri due ? . Freida is still at the beginning of her career. After SD she had to accept small roles albeit with great directors and Trishna is the only film where she has an author backed role. But Trishna is an art film and will get a limited release. Even Miral was an ensemble cast. Immortals is another film where she plays a small but pivotal role like in SD. So Freida has not had everything handed to her ......She's working her way up taking these small roles.
If anything you should be resentful against the star kids who have everything handed to them. Bollywood is full of young stars kids with no talent, average looks and super sense of self entitlement.
I think the Indian film industry would be so much better off without Bollywood which is run like a mafia. No wonder the films are so mediocre and 10 years behind the rest of the world.
There are so many talented beautiful Indians but without connections they have zero chance of making it in films.

Archie Panjabi is no where near as ethnic looking as Freida. You can name random Asian actors and business people to try and demean her success. It's very transparent and desperate.

"Not only her agent but Freida is fighting tooth and nail for projects and that's admirable and inspiring. Have you any idea how hard it is for an ethnic actor to get any work in Hollywood? ..."
You're hilarious. Yes, I do in fact know exactly how hard it is for ethnic actors to find work in Hollywood. But look at someone like Archie Panjabi, whose performance repertoire is diverse and defies stereotypes of South Asians in the western media. Archie has been around longer than Freida, but from the beginning of her career, Archie has selectively chosen roles and projects to challenge herself, crush stereotypes, and build versatility as an actress without commercializing herself or selling herself out as a Hollywood poster girl from the get-go. I'm assuming Archie was also never picked up by Hollywood to represent the "next ethnic it girl" for western audiences like Freida was, so in a very big way, someone like Archie has had to work even harder than Freida, who from the beginning of her career in Hollywood has had powerful agency representation, connections, and Hollywood execs on her side. Put it into perspective.
I'm glad you're a fan of Freida's. She's been incredibly fortunate and it's nice to see another Indian in Hollywood, but others might have a different take on her. it's a matter of opinion and taste. I'm sure she's learning a lot from all of her experiences, but don't discount how many other people are on her side, working hard for her and pushing her along, even at this very early stage in her career, when other actresses (and actors--just look at her boyfriend) in her racial category have had to and probably will continue to have to push much, much harder to get a break in Hollywood.

Seriously?! You do know Hollywood does not represent Arabs in a proper way.. It has nothing to do with 'history'! I'm sorry but are you educated??

Not only her agent but Freida is fighting tooth and nail for projects and that's admirable and inspiring. Have you any idea how hard it is for an ethnic actor to get any work in Hollywood? She auditioned for SD millionaire for 6 months and tho' she was short listed she had to fight for the role. So it's amazing she's come this far and worked with so many A-list direcors and actors and she's learining a lot.....and getting a lot of experience. She's also at the beginning of her career and she's done very well for herself so far. I am looking forward to the Immortals hoopla and after that she will announce her next projects. I hope it will be as a Bond girl. I want to see Freida in a glamoros edgy role for a change.

What are they trying to portray? When americans try to make films about muslims its always in the wrong way.
- portraying what history says muslims were/are like. Wrong way - says you! Haters gonna hate.

It's nice that her colleagues think highly of Freida, but ... I just cannot buy her performances because she doesn't ever look like she's not acting. Even in a trailer or movie clip. It's so bad.
By the way, Tarsem Singh was apparently very reluctant to cast Freida in this movie. So for all those people who think the best directors are falling at her feet and casting her left and right because they think she's perfect and really talented, you're really off the mark. Her agent is fighting tooth and nail to get her these parts.
I know the Freida lovers are going to have something to say, so go ahead ...
