Anurag Basu's Barfi!, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, has picked up steam as box office collections have crossed 60 crores in six days. Barfi! had earned 9.2 crores, 11.5 crores and 13.9 crores between release day Friday and Sunday.
Collections dropped to 6.5 crores on Monday and further to 6 crores on Tuesday before picking up steam as the film earned 7 crores on Wednesday. Trade analysts attribute the increase to the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday, which saw more people stream into multiplexes to watch this feel-good movie.
After adding the overseas box office collections of Rs. 13 crores, total collections have crossed 67.1 crores, a big feat considering the movie was released in 600-700 screens all over India.
The film had recovered its 30 crore budget in the opening weekend itself and is going strong due to good word of mouth publicity. It is expected to continue its good performance despite Heroine's release.
