Reasons why I like Kareena: She gives filmy kids a good name because she is worth her salt, has great range and delivers everytime and she is a natural beauty. Together with her sister Karishma, proved that the Kapoor dynasty is more than just the men.
Reasons why I like Aishwarya: Aishwarya, the beautiful. That is enough in itself but there is so much more to her than that. I like her code of conduct, she minds her own business, does not see a press-meet as an opportunity to lash out at others and create controversy, doesn't take pot-shots, does not claim to be number 1 in anything, doesn't try to out-do others or compete, she is her own toughest competition, she is truly beautiful and is aging gracefully, love her acting which improves with every film, great dancing skills, she's iconic, has an entertaining resume, does not brag, does not put down others, can give you a compliment without insulting you, has the ability to stir up debate while sitting in her house nursing her child... her most recent film was in 2010 yet people still talk about everyday more than most active actresses, she is nice in person (no airs at all), by all accounts seems to be a great wife and devoted mother and bahu, she is charitable, very professional, made a name for herself in spite of the odds, people claim she had the Khans in her corner but when they weren't there she survived without them (she has only acted with 2 out of the 3 which by the way all her Khan films were hits, superhits or blockbusters) in all of her 13 years of Bollywood career she never gave a flop film with any of the Khans and never claimed any Khan to be hers. Never claims to be the best actress or best anything. Respects her elders without degrading them. Her humility is a great asset.

u said it all .... i really really like kareena but i love aishwarya ... she is definitely the most beautiful and i would not dare say she is the best actress of all time but certainly one the very talented and versatile actresses of the era... she is a human to the core and this is why we love and respect her... love her like forever... :) and not to mention girl u rock...

Not only is Aishwarya extremely beautiful but she is also super talented. She definitely leaves her stamp on roles that she plays and I for one, love that about her! She has that star quality that screams 'Love me or hate me, but you can't get enough of me'

Of course, Jodha Akbar is an Aishwarya Rai movie. When people call you/remember you by the name of character you play in the movie, then it means you have immortalized the character. Like Sallu as Dabbang Khan, SRK as Rahu/Raj, and Aishwarya as Nandini, Paro and Jodha
If you ask anyone what face comes to mind when you say Akbar, the Indian public will only say Priviraj Kapoor . His style of talking, walking , saying "Takthekal" in Mugle Azam, that image is imprinted on minds of public. No one will ever name Hritik. No one remembers Hritik as Akbar, neither do his fans like him wearing long kurta of a king, everyone remembers him as the super stylish thief of Dhoom -2
But, if you ask someone how should a princess be like, everyone will say Jodha and only and only Aishwarya's image will come to mind. That is called acting, making the character immortalized. There have been so many period/historical movies; many other actresses have also played the role of princesses or traditional characters like Vidya Balan in Eklavya , Bina rai in Taaj Mahal movie, Kareena in Asoka , princess Sanjukta in Prithviraaj chauhan, Sreedevi in Khuda gawah , Hema in Razia Sultana does anyone ever remember them? Rani also played a Rajasthnai character in her movie Paheli. Does anyone ever talk about performance of other actresses in those roles? No, People only remember Aishwarya
And it is not just about rolling/blinking eyes. Its in the body language . The grace, dignity, purity, style of walking, "Lahja (this is a hindi word) " of talking , elegance , and pride of a Rajput princess , she reflected it all in her performance which rani/vidya/kareena couldn't

Get your facts right! Aishwarya's acting was praised by one and all. Some critics called it one of the best restrained performances of the decade by a female actor. The film didn't bomb because of the reason you quoted. It was a good film. But only crap movies like Bodyguard, Ready and Rowdy Rathore sell these days. Which is costing the good art movies dearly.
When Kareena says Aish is in a diff generation its not about age or when she debuted she is more considered as in the same leaugue as Rani and Preity. kareena is now with Katrina,Priyanka,Vidya thats what she meant a diff gen not how old she is god some people are so ignorant and they want to pick a fight out of everthing.
who cares what happens in 20 years from now. 4 years already passed but priyanka still receiving accolades for her performance in fashion. it is still fresh. whatever fame she acieved in 2008, she is still capitalizing on it. she made her name and ash had it in her face with her jodha role. outside pinkvilla nobody might even care about her jodha. it is the ash pr who is trying hard to keep her name alive even now. she lost it to priyanka and that would be the fact, today tomm and forever.
@Filmfare gives award to SRK nearly every year, but after her 2002 fight with SRK, Filmfare never gave Aishwarya any award (even for critics) despite her rock solid performances in Raincoat, provoked, Jodha Akabar Guzarish, and I doubt they will give it to her again despite however well she performs
rock solid performance??? In Guzarish? The film bombed BECAUSE of her!!! Is that what you call acting? It's so fake and put on! I'm no fan of Priyanka but truth be told she can deliver some good, balanced acting (and that is only sometimes eg Fashion, Aitraaz). And as far as age is concerned, these actresses think they are 23 every year. They claim they're so much younger than they really are! But yes...Ash does look good as a mother, I'll give her that!

I agree with every word you said Voiceswriter... but I also agree with the anon who says that Aish performance in Jodha was not itself award-worthy...look at her performance individually also does not make it a 100 percent awesome one... it was a good effort coupled with her beauty!

Fashion is not a forgettable movie, that is not what I implied. It was good, well made, and Priyanka's acting was also brilliant.
However , ask people 10-15 years from today, will they remember this movie about a model and fashion world, or who played the lead in it? No-one will . There will be hotter models that time . Even now , apart from serious movie buffs , no-one remembers the name of the character Priyanka played, (many people have to google it) while common public still remembers the names : Jodha, Paro and Nandini. (and others like Chulbul Pandey, Thakur/ Jay/Vereru/Don)
On the contrary, ask the Indian public 20 years from know which image comes to mind about a princess , it will still be Aishwarya as Jodha . Jodha Akabar (along with Mugle Azam, Lagaan), is one of the best /most successful period films in Indian cinema, and the image Aishwarya (about the pride of a Rajput princess )has left on public minds indelible. That is what matters , not awards

BOLLYWOOD AWARDS most of the time are a nonsensical show of pump and vanity. Aishwarya was nominated for a Best Actress Filmfare award for her work in Dhoom II (say what?????) But not for roles like CHOKHER BALI, RAAVAN or SARKAR RAJ (crimony!!!) Kareena (from the trailer) looks like she has given the performance of her career in HEROINE but will be going up against Vidya in KAHAANI and Priyanka in BARFI next year at the award functions, only one will win but does that make one actress' performance better than the other? Saying that Priyanka in FASHION won over Aishwarya in JODHAA AKBAR because PC is a better actress is silly. After all Aishwarya was not the only one in the category, does that mean that Priyanka is a better actress than all of her fellow nominees? No. It was just her year to clear all the awards because she gave a strong, more popular with voters/critcs performance and it was her time to shine not because she is better or worse than anybody else.

I agree with you about awards and how they are kinda biased... but I don't think Aishwarya's performance was award-worthy anyways... doesn't matter if it is a purely female-oriented movie or not! It was a decent effort with some gorgeous looks but sadly not top-notch when it comes to acting...sorry but that's just the fact!

Because despite Jodha's role being impacting and well played by Aishwarya , the movie wasn't purely female oriented. It showed the interaction between Jodha & Akbar , two people belonging to different religions/cultures , how they overcame their cultural differences and fell in love. The movie also revolved around the social economic situation, politics/war /administration in 16-17th century. Jodha was the soul of the movie. She guides Akbar to becoming benevolent, adapting religious secularism , justice towards all classes in the society, removing jazia tax on Hindus, and that's the reason Akbar got respect from people as a King, and is remembered in history
Priyanka's performance in Fashion was also excellent, and Fashion movie was more female oriented then Jodha Akbar since it was her journey from beginning to end. That's why she got the awards.
On other note, winning awards is not the sole criteria for a excellent performance, and we all know awards are not always fair. There is favoritism /fixing. Filmfare gives award to SRK nearly every year, but after her 2002 fight with SRK, Filmfare never gave Aishwarya any award (even for critics) despite her rock solid performances in Raincoat, provoked, Jodha Akabar Guzarish, and I doubt they will give it to her again despite however well she performs
Amitabh Bachchan, despite super hits and great performances in the 70s and 80s like Zanjeer, Dewaar, Sholay, never won any award for them. But the audience remembers him in these movies over the actors who won awards in years 1973,74, 75 , etc , and that is what counts.

well as far as i have seen it is mostly indians who has this darkness complex and i see only indian miss worlds and only indian the most beautiful ladies whitens their complexion wheres they have brown complexion and it is only bollywood where an innocent whitened face can make you the nation's star for example in hollywood talent is essential irrespective of looks/colour as you can all see and unless you are talentless no matter how effective your PR is anyways some societies cant understand what i mean as you mostly obsessed with fairness issues
