IIFA has just announced that they are going to be awarding the best of the decade "Golden Decade Honours". The categories include:
Star of the decade – Male: Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan.
Star of the decade – Female: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra.
Movie of the decade: Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam – 2000; Kaho Na Pyaar Hai – 2001; Lagaan – 2002; Devdas – 2003; Kal Ho Na Ho – 2004; Veer Zaara – 2005; Black – 2006; Rang De Basanti – 2007; Chak De India – 2008
Music of the decade: Taal – 2000 AR Rahman; Kaho Na Pyaar Hai – 2001 Rajesh Roshan; Lagaan – 2002 AR Rahman; Saathiya – 2003 AR Rahman; Kal Ho Na Ho – 2004 Shankar Ehsaan Loy; Veer Zaara – 2005 Madan Mohan; Bunty Aur Babli – 2006 Shankar Ehsan Loy; Rang De Basanti – 2007 AR Rahman and Guru – 2008 AR Rahman.

Personally, I feel the winners should be Shah Rukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Devdas, Shankar Ehsan Loy, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Who do you think should win "Golden Decade Honours"? and why?

Kareena is better than aish
Kareena is better than aish and priyanka. What I call a great actress who deserve an award are rani, kareena, and preitty. Now that is what you call an actress. Aish and PC they are not unique. They are not even a competion to these there actressess I mentioned. Between rani, preity and kareena it is tought to pick who will win. But personally I think kareena will win becuase she recieved more criticial and commercial success than Rani and preity because she had done many movies than them. Omakara, Jab We Met, Chameli, Refugee, Mujhe kucch kehna hai, K3G, Yuva, Dev, Hulchul, Omkara, and kurbaan. The only movie that stood out for rani and preity are Black and Kal ho na hoo. SO obviously kareena had a mix of hits and commerciall sucess while Kurbaan, omkara, chameli, Yuva and Dev were criticiqal success. JWM, K3G, Mujhe kuch kehna hai. hulchul, Kambhat Isq were a box office sucess. Ajanabee was also a one of top ten hits of that year.

Kareena is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than aish. Kareena should win for Jab We Met. Do you guys know that when Aish did her first movie they criticized her for he bad acting and looking like a stone or something like that. And kareena was praised for her first movie and they said she had potential.

Star o the decade- can't choose between SRK and amir. BUt because of Ghajni and Lagaan and because Srk wins everythink it should go to Amir.
Sar of the decade female- I agree with what the people below are saying kareena should win because she is criticially and commerically successful more than the stars that are listed. ANd she is a great actress than all of them except rani.
Movie of the decade: I believe that Jab We Met should be on the list, I would choice JWM, but from the list kaho na pyaar hai.
And why is Akshay not nominated for the star of the decade. He had more hits than amir and hritick?

well the award is for star of the decade not actress. everyhting must be taken in condsideration,. rani doesnt have the aura of a star.

Ash is onlu a star never an actress. Rani is the true actress of the decade. Everyone knows it they do not need to invent an award to try to get everyone to believe it. The award was rubbish everyone knows that Rani is the true queen of Bollywood, something Ash will never be able to accomplish despite being a Bachchan.

I personally think that Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee should get the best actor and actress awards respectively. Why? Because they are what the 2000's was about, I mean look at Devdas, Swades, Veer Zaara, Chack De India, Chalte, Black, Hum Tum, Kal ho Na Ho, Saawariya, Baabul, and the list go on and on. For director, no question asked, it should go to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And for Music , obvs A R Rehman....... C'mon guys R U with Me?

Anonymous on Fri, 2009-06-12 09:30. Why do people compare Slumdog with Lagan. Lagaan was in the foriegn language film category competing aaginst other foreign language films, Slumdog was not. No mater if you are right or wrong as to why Lagaan did not win the films were in two different categories.
I think SRK was the right choice just for purely entertainment purposes though I think Aamir is the better actor.
The female should have gone to Rani and not Aishwaryia but then that is just my opinion.

SRK is good but only when it comes to outright drama, Beautiful airbrushed females, stunning locations and a dazzling songs. Larger than life dramatic stories. Aamir mosly shoots in his own country with very few exceptions. His stories are dramatic too but bit more substantive. He has given hits without the most beautiful co-star. Without so much masala and malai!!! The music of and script of Lagaan is way stronger than Slumdog but the reason it didn't get Oscars because the orientation is towards colonialism and the legacy of colonialism which didn't work too well with the whites.
