Bollywood Actresses Who Are Great In Comedy

Every second actor claims that comedy is much more difficult than any genre of movie. British actor Hugh Grant who's known more for his levity than more dramatic roles once said:“I've never been tempted to do the part where I cry or get AIDS or save some people from a concentration camp just to get good reviews. I genuinely believe that comedy acting, light comedy acting, is as hard as, if not harder than serious acting, and it genuinely doesn’t bother me that all the prizes and the good reviews automatically by knee-jerk reaction go to the deepest, darkest, most serious performances and parts. It makes me laugh.”Nothing can be truer indeed. Yes it's hard to make people cry,make people scared,make people thrilled,but above all it's the hardest to make them smile. Tell that to the current crop of Bollywood actors who associate comedy with just cheap,vulgar toilet humour and bad expressions. But more so it's our beautiful little actresses who might work in a comedy movie but yet stand next to the hero with a blank expression and hope to get the maximum laughs. Comedy as a rule is a MEN'S forte in Bollywood and our actresses rarely like making themselves look like a bag of gags for pleasing the audience. So below I've listed a few actresses who I believe had or have a brilliant comic timing.I've randomly ranked them in no order whatsoever,but with one obvious winner(the no.1).

SRIDEVI-
Quite simply the "Queen Of Funny". Charlie Chaplin might himself LOL! at Sridevi's impeccable impersonation of his Tramp persona. As a tremendously versatile actress,Sri was good enough not only in heavyweight dramatic roles but was also brilliant in comedy.Sri often rolled up her sleeves, stuck out her tongue and plunged enthusiastically into sheer slapstick, content to fall over or be kicked in the backside, anything for a laugh.In Chaalbaaz she essayed the dual roles of Anju and Manju,and as both a timid girl and fierce street tigress she played them with fantastic funny vitality. In Mr.India too her legendary Chaplin impersonation sent me rolling down the aisles.And in other scores of films Sridevi has proved time and again that she's the best in comedy and with her 100 expressions per minute this lady sure makes me LOLLL!!!

JUHI CHAWLA-
I love Juhi Chawla.She's gorgeous even in her 40s,was always a brilliant actress,good dancer,looks intelligent.But above all she has this ability to laugh at herself and with her mad ha-ha-ha make herself look like a complete jackass of the first water. In Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke,Bol Radha Bol and scores of other comedy films Juhi really came into her own providing subtle touches of comedy in some and going the slapstick route in others. No wonder then that no other actress is as quickly identified by her comic timing than Juhi.

HEMA MALINI-
Dhannooooo!!!As the chatterbox village belle of Sholay, Hema Malini owns some of the most iconic female characters on screen. There's Gabbar Singh in the scene and Basanti in the same,yet we keep our eyes fixed on Basanti. Hemaji's shown some fine comic timing over the years, paired often opposite Dharmendra in films like Seeta Aur Geeta and Amitabh Bachchan in films like Satte Pe Satta and Do Aur Do Paanch, often playing a feisty girl too street-smart to be fooled.Her turn as shy Seeta and feistly Geeta was exceptionally remarkable.

MADHURI DIXIT-
A must add on in every list ever made about Bollywood actresses,a La Dixit is arguably one of the best and grandest comedic actresses of Bollywood.She dabbled with comedy mostly alongside Anil Kapoor -- keeping hysterical films like Ram Lakhan grounded, and flying whimsically off with films like Khel -- and Aamir Khan, their Dil leading to a spate of young romances.In Hum Aapke Hain Kaun too she delivered a comic performance that made many go ROFL!,LOL,and LMAO at the same time.

TUN TUN-
Called Hindi Cinema's first great comedienne(comic actress)Tun Tun might not be the glamourous diva some of the others on this list are but she surely delivers the biggest bag of goofs. The image of a roly-poly old woman,with a mischevious smile and 100s of different expression of a face has become so popular that plump Indian ladies are referred to as Tun Tun.Over her long career, Tun Tun acted alongside top comedians like Bhagwan Dada, Agha, Johnny Walker and the like, and established herself as an equal in every way. Others might be a copycat but Tuntun is the original.

RAVEENA TANDON-
Often starring in films alongside Govinda in David Dhawan films isn't really the best opportunity for an actress to show her comic timing. With Chi Chi and his mad antics on screen who the hell needs a heroine right,let alone a heroine good enough to overshadow him. But the Mast Mast Girl indeed had so much verve,that she could put her hair down and make those madcap comedies work.In her brilliant role in Andaz Apna Apna too she was hillarious.

KIRRON KHER-
I find Kirron Kher the funniest lady on screen today,no matter how frumpy she looks.Often playing an over melodramatic mother in films like Dostana,Hum Tum,Om Shanti Om and dozens of other films,whenever Kirron Kher's on screen she makes me LOL so hard that tears of joy spring out of my eyes.

KAREENA KAPOOR-
Many of you'll might not agree with me on this but I do believe that Kareena is the best mainstream comedic actress we have today. Bebo is versatile enough to pull of any role really,but her comic timing never really shone through. With one of my all-time fave performances as Geet in Jab We Met however Kareena's brilliant sense of comic timing just burst through the screen at 80km/hr,just like her fast talking Geet. Not only JWM,Kareena's been pretty awesome too as a tomboy in Golmaal 3 and though her part in 3 Idiots was small her "Dhokla-fafra"scene in it made me LMAO!

RANI MUKHERJEE-
Thogh she's been lying low of late,Rani's never really dimmed in the audience's memory.It's not just her serious roles in Black and Yuva and other films but also excellent comic timing in films like Hum Tum where she plays tomboy Rhea that keeps her alive in the mind. She was equally good in Bunty aur Babli as a con woman and as a woman who dresses up as a man in Dil Bole Haddipa!

Some other honourable mentions-Karisma Kapoor,Kajol,Preity Zinta,Madhubala,Saira Banu and Mumtaz.According to me many other actresses may have attempted comedy but these ladies dabbled in it for a long time and really proved themselves.So guys who do you think is Bollywood's best comediennes?
