Superstar Kamal Haasan has always had a tumultous personal life. Throughout his celebrated career, he has had his fair share of hits and misses when it came to women, and these relationships always provided enough fodder for the media.

Hassan was in a highly publicised relationship with actress Srividya in the 1970s, which even provided the basis for Malayalam film Thirakkatha in 2008.
But his first marriage was to dancer Vani Ganapathy in 1978. However, the marriage did not last and the couple parted ways ten years later with quite an ugly divorce.

Later, Hassan went into his most volatile relationship with actress Sarika whom he lived with for many years, only getting married after the birth of their younger daughter Akshara in 1991. They had previously had another child in 1986, actress Shruti Haasan. However, problems resurfaced and they filed for divorce in 2002. The reason for their divorce was pointed to Haasan's relationship with his much-younger co-star Simran Bagga.
While Sarika and Kamal split for good in 2004, his lady love Simran too married elsewhere.

In a recent interview, Kamal was asked about the failure of his two marriages.
"Both your marriages didn’t succeed. Do you think you should’ve married at all?"

Haasan explained, "
I never believed in marriage. People marry because of peer pressure but I don’t subscribe to the ‘herd mentality’. I shouldn’t have married. I married for the convenience of my women. Vani wouldn’t live-in and I wasn’t strong enough to put my foot down. And the society was such that Sarika and I couldn’t book a hotel room together even after we had two daughters."

Kamal Haasan is now in a live-in relationship with former actress Gouthami Tadimalla with whom he has worked many time during his early career. Gouthami also has a daughter Subbalakshmi from her previous marriage.

A guy who likes to play around shouldn't have married... ended up hurting other women... and on top of it giving lame excuses to justify his lack of character. I don't know why women fall for such men either esp. when they have a history of cheating. Once a cheater, always a cheater...

what he is saying is true. Men are polygamous by nature; no matter how much you tie them in a marriage, they are bound to drift. Instead of the pretentious marriages laced with loads of extramarital affairs, its better to be upfront and honest to your true nature.

Kamal Hassan always an artiste. Never one for conventions. If someone wanted to be part of this, they should choose the baggage. He was always upfront in his indiscretions.

He is incapable of staying faithful and monogamous, so he's right, he shouldn't have married at all. Poor Sarika, had a tough life as it is, she fell for a jerk too.

Am a big fan of Kamal's acting, but truth is he's always been a serial philanderer!! His list of affairs is endless.. And c'mon, marriage=herd mentality? Wtf!

What are you talking about? Sarika's daughters have always been in contact with her. She's always visiting Shruti on set and the younger one lives with her.

Marriage isn't just about having FUN Mr. Hassan. There are some vvvv good times and there are some testing times too. It all about striking the right balance and being committed. These days Commitment has lost its essence and hence people don't want to get into wed lock. I am sorry to see how people just look for temporary relationships , I hope everyone realizes sooner or later the importance of being committed or else we won't be any different from the western culture which is totally screwed up!

Kamal Hassan is somebody who should never have married at all . He's a major player & always will be. Tamil movie ' Meendum Kokila ' had him ,Sridevi & Rekha (Hindi actress) in the lead roles . He had an affair with Rekha , wife Vani Ganapathy caught them red handed on the sets . Result was Rekha was thrown out & Malayalam actress Unni Mary did the role. But the marriage was over. He married Sarika & had his women on the sly. Sarika , already coming from a troubled background kept quiet. A much younger Simran rocked the marriage & Sarika attempted suicide. Today it's very sad , the gals don't interact with their mother. Gautami's marriage broke because her husband was cheating on her with Kashmera Shah . I don't know why she thinks Kamal's behaviour will be any different.
