Bhansali’s Kapoor dreams go kaput!!
According to the recent reports Kareena Kapoor is not doing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela in which she was paired with Ranveer Singh. Ironically, she is the second member of the Kapoor khandan to walk out of the film after Ranbir Kapoor. A source close to the director reveals, “Not many people know that Ranbir Kapoor was Bhansali’s first choice for the male lead. He had approached him initially to do the film but Ranbir cited the date problems and excused himself. That is when Bhansali decided to cast his first cousin, Kareena Kapoor. He felt if not the Kapoor lad, he could at least rope in the Kapoor girl in the film. He very strongly wanted one of them to be part of the film since both are a right combination of huge stars, immense talent and charming looks. But as luck would have it, he had fallout with her too.” Bebo is no more part of the film and now Priyanka Chopra will be essaying the role. The source says the fallout has nothing to with Kareena and Saif’s much awaited wedding.The real reason is moolah. “Bhansali had originally taken hundred dates of Bebo for the shoot but he recently told her that he would require 40 more days ofher. When Bebo’s manager asked him about the remuneration for the extra days Bhansali’s team said she won’t be paid anything else besides what was decided in the beginning. This didn’t go down well with Bebo. She felt it was unfair of Bhansali to increase the days of shooting without paying her anything extra for it. So she decided to opt out of the film.” It’s a double whammy for Bhansali who has lost a chance of working with the two most sought after Kapoor scions. However, we wish that SLB still manages to create magic with his Ram Leela.

I'm actually extremely suprised that Kareena didn't budge on the money issue for Bhansali.
Ever since the Devdas days, Kareena has gone on about wanting to work with Bhansali, how they both desparately want to work with each other and how no one can make an actress look as beautiful as Bhansali (this is indeed true. for me, Aishwariya has never looked as good on screen as she did with Bhansali)
In addition Bhansali is particularly skilled in extracting incredible performances from his actresses.
While Kareena is known to be hesitant with working with flop directors, Bhansali just recently produced the blockbuster (crap) Rowdy Rathore.
If you look back, you will see Kareena talking about working with Bhansali since Bajirao Mastani days.
Post the incident with Karan Johar and Kal Ho Na Ho, Kareena has publicly stated she will rethink her pay for movies that mean something to her.
There has to be something more the matter in this episode.
Kareena quickly announcing her exit and then her managers insinuating it has to do with pay (srsly, why would you suggest that despite being as rich as Kareena, doing 3 movies in 3 months is more worth her while than working with a brilliant director? shouldnt she be at the stage in her career when actual art should be more important??)
seems to be a move on her part before Bhansali could announce his reasons for her departure.

why should she give SLB 140 days for crappy money while she can do 3 big movies for better money at the same time, bebo is clever woman.

I think Priyanka will look much more older than Ranveer on screen (as she is older than him).
I think Sonam Kapoor will work wonders as 'Leela' with her classic looks
Ahhhh...........Imagine how ranveer must be feeling, Kareena is his favourite actress and one actress he desperately wanted to work with, he must be very upset now.
For once, I'm on Kareena's side on this.
After reading that article posted here that showed the disparity b/w Bollywood heroes and heroines' paychecks, I want to congratulate Kareena for taking a stand. The heroines make <10 crores while the top Khan heroes make 20-40 crores per film. Pay the girls more and give them more substantial roles !!!
Well, Ranbir also opted out of 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and that turned out to be a really good movie and he also did a movie like 'Anjaana Anjaani' so I wouldn't read too much into the fact that Ranbir choose to not do this movie. Also, the issue here is clearly money. I'm guessing that if she was paid for the extra days, then she would have done the movie. Especially since before all this, she was like "SLB is the Raj Kapoor of this generation" and blah blah blah.
Would any of you work for over a month without getting paid at whatever job you do or hope to do? No. If it was a week, than I would understand but 40 days is a lot! And that also impacts her other movies as well which she already gave dates for. She did the right thing.
If Priyanka was selective about her choices maybe her movies would do well. She is so overexposed, I am sick of seeing her everywhere. Even the movies she does, she plays like 900 characters in them and I feel like she just needs to choose her movies carefully.
40 days is not "a couple of days" for someone as busy as her, thats a long time to devote to one project. Kareena would not say no to a GOOD project just because of this, I am sure there is something going on here. She is a woman of dignity and has always maintained silence be it her break up with shahid kapoor or the whole heroine fiasco.
We need to just wait and watch!

Kareena you are not missing much...Sanjay leela bansali has lost his charm after Devdas. I am sure this movie will be average like Sawariya and i forgot the name of Hrithik Roshans movie!
And Kareena is being professional NOT money minded!
For example if you buy 100 packets of chips then you will be paid for 100 packet of chips but if if you want 40 more packets then you MUST 'BUY' those 40 packets!...not take 140 for the price of 100 right?!
I am not Kareena's PR nor an obsessive fan....just a practical person =p lol

i hate how these big directors stick to big stars who are pretty much there in every other film. Industry needs more genuine actors and not just foreign imports who can't speak hindi, let alone act.

i guess its his unfortune that he is not working with any of them, Kareena the most sought after actress of today and same is the case with ranbir. Being a professional you can t do these lame things not give star their proper sum of money and am glad Kareena took this stand i can t see any actress other then her NOW taking this action against a director like SLB

I agree with u. If Ranbir opted then surely the movie is not that gud. Ranbir also rejected Teri Meri kahani.
Kareena opted out of it willingly. She wasnt thrown out. Follow the history of the story and its obvious that SLB was being cheap. Even during the Heroine fiasco, Kareena passed the movie since she had reservations with the script. Ash agreed to everything in the script. The current script of Heroine has been tweaked to meet Kareena's demands.
The fact that Ranbir had opted out of this earlier gives this story a whole new dimension. If this news is true, then I'm kind of glad Kareena is not doing it. If Ranbir rejected it, something must be the issue and Kareena must have had second thoughts, although Kareena is known to be quite money minded and sticks to her ground when it comes to the moolah part of it...
Paisa bolta hai...! So whatever happened to all those reports of PC being the highest paid etc :P

It will be a better movie with Priyanka in it anyways. And I'm pretty sure Kareena was let go from the film. She didn't leave on her own.
