The BIG STAR Entertainment Awards was indeed a night to remember!! The stars came down in all their glory to attend the first Awards of the New Year. The air was abuzz with anticipation, appreciation & admiration. The stage was set for the very celebrated and illustrious star powered 2nd BIG Star Entertainment Awards 2011 (BSEA) from the Reliance Broadcast stable, celebrating excellence in films, television, theatre and sports. With a whopping success in its very first year, the 2nd edition of the Awards, promised to be a bigger and grandeur spectacle to kick start the award season.
The BIG Star Entertainment Awards always strives to be very unique & special. This year too, true to its commitment, the Awards saw a Special category that was presented in an innovative way. Where citations & show reels are the order of the day, for the category, BIG Star Entertainment Awards, thought it differently. The latest singing sensation from the south, Dhanush, a diehard Big B fan just could not resist his special rendition of Kolaveri Big B! He walked down in front of the superstar, the winner of the category, and sang to the superstar on his four decades in the industry, his talented acting & singing skills & finally to the dictionary in his name! What better way to felicitate a man whose work & worth cannot be simply put in paper!
The night was star-studded with the who’s who from Bollywood and Television industry in full attendance - yesteryear stars, current heartthrobs and up-and-coming young guns — walk down the red carpet. The evening witnessed the presence of superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Kapoor cousins Ranbir and Kareena, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, sister Zoya Akthar and the irresistible Salman Khan, with sister Alivira, brother-in-law and the Bodyguard producer Atul Agnihotri, power house directors Ashutosh Gowarikar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ekta Kapoor...The glamour quotient was set high with the gorgeous Dia Mirza, Sonali Bendre, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor all sporting chic black ensembles.
The event was hosted by the talented duo, Manish Paul and Shreyas Talpade who brought the house down with their wit and humour. The performances were power packed with the sizzling Jacqueline Fernandes oozing oomph in her numbers from Murder 1 & Murder 2; Priyanka Chopra’s dare devil show stopper; television hotties Ragini Khanna and Shweta Tiwari grooved to a medley of foot-tapping songs dressed in svelte red and hot fuchsia. The crowning glory of the evening was a smashing performance by Salman Khan who shook his booty to ‘Dhinka Chika’. The Bodyguard set the stage on fire with his impromptu live performance and pulsating moves, charming his way into the hearts of one and all.
