Has Karishma not yet received her due in Bollywood?

Karisma being compared to KAJOL? Its like a good student being compared to the best teacher of an institution. Karisma become an actress or rather acted only in the second half of her career. If she's too good,how was she so horrible in her comeback film? Kajol on the contrary was excellent even in a movie like we Are Family. Don't compare Kajol to any of these female actors... Only Vidya Balan of the current generation shows some spark like her. Kajol is by far very underrated.. If you don't believe me watch Fanaa,U me aur Hum,Dushman... Am not saying that karisma is a bad actor,she's good but nothing when compared to Kajol.

Frankly,I think she`s good ,but you shouldn`t put down kareena`s struggles this way too. Yes it was a 12 year long fight no doubt, but no one becomes a star here cox of anyone else. Maybe when kareena came she had her sisters lineage or the mums or whatever, but she too had to fight till she got to JWM. But yes compared to karishma the struggle does look smaller, however I don`t believe that karishma didnt get her due. She stopped acting after she got on top just when ppl wanted to see more of her,so thats a choice u see. Again u cant hold kareena responsible,coz kareena has always said from the beginning,that she has to make it on her own. So ,getting someone down wont make anyone or anything a star. In that case,esha deol should have been a super star by now too,but its not like that. Audiences are smart,only they can make or break a superstar no one else. Not even good directors.

Came across this article and felt like commenting.. Well Karishma has got more than what she deserved. Remember Raja Hindustani had a great role for her.. It was more about Aarti than Raja and she ruined it with her loud performance and still managed to bag the filmfare that year and the much needed potpularity .. She was fantastic in DTPH and got the ultimate national award and still you think she's underrated? Later she was superb in Biwi no1 (my fav performance of hers) and when she attempted films like fiza and zubeida every1 noticed her work and awarded her too.Then where is the question of being underrated? People even tolerated her OTT performances in Haan maine bhi pyar kiya hai, Rishtey, etc
My opinion:
A big star even without unnecessary newsmaking ability(unlike her sister)
An amazing and a fabulous dancer,
A great fashion and style icon
A nice and warm person according to the interviews i've seen or read about her. Ofcourse had fights with Raveena but then today they are great friends and party together
self made heroine unlike kajol
Gorgeous looking
Chose to experiment with different roles when on top
Did not mind working with less popular and not so successful heroes like Chandrachur Singh,Bobby Deol, Hrithik when he was new(KNPH not even released when she signed fiza), Manoj Bajpai,Abhishek Bachchan(when he had the'flop hero' tag),Sanjay Kapoor ,Dino Morea etc

But is she a great actress? Definitely not.. She is ok to good.. did OTT acting in a lot of movies but a lot better than the current crop of actresses(who call themselves as No.1) though.

Krisma is hot, beautiful, smart, sexy, intelligent, talented which most actresses lack today

oh and there is nothing great about her appearance other than the figure she spends hours in the gym for and fair skin which indians go gaga over even her height is very average. if you took her pictures and showed them to people in the west they would tell you she is a well groomed average pretty face a best.

and people saying she's nothing to look at without makeup!? really!? did you see her without makeup in her prime? not her late 30's or early teens 16 and stuff but her prime years .... I'm sorry but I haven't seen a more beautiful and hotter person in movies. I think most ppl here are just like jealous of naturally light skinned and blue eye girls lol seriously because for indians or even caucasians Karishma is way way above average especially for an India. She's gorgeous PERIOD and most other actresses are over rated with mad makeup, lighting and what not .... this poor girl is far by the only one who tanned her skin for certain roles, who hid her blue eyes under dark contacts for some roles and experimented pretty much everything. Please watch her movies from her prime days like super hot .... she can still give most of them a run for their money at late 30's with two kids.

I too agree with the fact that SriDevi and Karishma are the most underrated actresses of all times.Now that both SriDevi and Karishma are coming back to films,I just pray to GOD their films ENGLISH VINGLISH and DANGEROUS ISHQ becomes very successful.

she's very quiet... bollywood didn't seem like much. her work always comes first. karisma was the bollywood's most successful star actress in 90s with a record breaking BO numbers. she surpassed madhuri's BO and has got 17 hit films that entered top ten best selling films for nine consecutive years only

You must be kidding me there's nothing average about this girl and I'm sorry but no one looked better than her on screen .... obviously if you look at a 16 year old girl right afetr her pubertal changes she would look odd to you Karishma came into movies at age 16 and still was very beautiful but she became her hot, gorgeous self later on and I'm sorry but at that stage this girl could make anyone look plain. Kapoor family didn't even help her at all and everyone testified to that she worked hard to be where she got and she overshadowed every single girl, or guys be it Khans who she worked with. As much as they tried to make her look less better than Madhuri in DTPH she still overshadowed Madz completely and I love Madz too but no one's better than Karishma she's the only one who plays so many versatile roles, looked pretty, hot, gorgeous and made the most movies that were female centric and did well all by herself.

Karishma is average looker and reasonable performer..only reason she is even in movies is because of Raj Kapoor.
I know she had her struggles but everyone struggles in bollywood on some level.
she is hard working and thats what got her to a certain position in movies. she does not have great screen presence.

I'm sorry but you're obviously a hater .... Karishma was very popular but NO her success was based on herself alone and not biased in any way. Karishma is better than any of those so called actress especially Aishwarya .... she still needs to learn how to be versatile and not overact. She's better than Kajol and Kareena. YES she was always hotter and more beautiful than any of those ladies above. I'm sorry let's just say none of the ladies above are even near as versatile as Karishma .... Karishma can do comedy without overacting and if she overacts she looks cute because she does it so well if she does serious roles she's the Queen .... she can play almost everything and still look good and act powerfully. Aish is nothing but propaganda .... Aish was getting no roles until Devdas she was doing item numbers in Shakti and guest appearances before Devdas .... when Devdas got to Cannes she finally was "explored" by the western media and she scored a Loreal contract which is the ONLY reason Bollywood started taking her seriously and to be honest she did play some good roles like Provoked, Raincoat but she's far from versatile she can only do serious roles properly it's like she loves crying and being sad lol .... Kajol!? seriously!? She's a good actress but Karishma is the only one who had mostly hits throughout her career she was a box office QUEEN .... tell me one good and hit movie where Kajol did it all alone? Karishma overshadowed everyone in most of her movies and I literally still watch her old movies for her .... and to look at her gorgeous face and blue eyes and even they hide her skin and blue eyes I watch the movie for her acting, dance and of course she still looks hot. Kareena!? ok lol she's good but only in a few movies the kind of movies they making now are a joke. Priyanka ok .... like I said before none of these women match up to Karishma .... doing well in 2-3 films shouldn't make you a huge star. Karishma did make it really BIG even back than she was the top actress in those days but there was less media and propaganda back than .... Kajol is still being considered big because of Karan Johar and SRK being her friends and also because she's still acting .... otherwise do you really think Madhuri and Juhi weren't bigger stars than Kajol!? they're not being mentioned anywhere now because they don't have best friends like SRK and Karan. Karishma was highly successful but as much as she deserved and she should get more because Aish, Kareena, Priyanka and extremely overrated.

Well....this is definitely an over-rated article about KARISMA KAPOOR.And Karisma has definitely been highly successful,more than what she deserved.Especially,with all those "NO.1"s she did with Govinda....people were really kind and tolerant towards Karisma.
Actually Karisma must be more than happy and thank God that she was an actress in the early 90s.Had she been today,She just wouldnt have survived...That too among actresses like Aishwarya,Kajol,Kareena,Priyanka and Vidya Balan.
And her younger sister is already promoting and over-rating her....does karisma even need a 3rd party promotion???
And ppl are comparing Aishwarya and Kajol with this female???? Weird!!!

Karishma has done some good work in films like Raja Hindustani, Zubeida, Shakti, Fiza and Dil too pagal hai.

She is not really beautiful, but after Raja Hindustani she started to style herself well. Anyways, I think she did get her due. She is much better than her younger sister though.

My intent was not to belittle what she has achieved so far! What see achieved in the late 90s was great! She had turned into a power packed performer- someone who could act, dance, do comedy, cry, romance everything. She was a complete package! And to say the least- the original fashion icon. She brought something in every movie. If you look back at her movies (post Jeet)- she carries herself with class and dignity. I understand the initial years of an actors life are hard and even though her illustrious last name didnt help her. What she did, what she achieved was by herself. In the late 90s, I dont think anyone was close to comparison to her. She was where Kareena is today. She was No.1- but then her priorities might have changed. The whole Bachachan angle and her sudden marriage (family pressure or other reasons, I dont know). I really wish she pushed herself more...I wish she was more of a DIVA like Rekha or Kareena- she would have had super stardom. Instead she just let her work talk. Which is great and which is why people still find her endearing and honest. I betcha 10 years from now- no one is going to talk about Kareena like this. People actually relate to Karishma- her initial struggles have been very talked about. Whatever say, this lady has freakin CLASS!!!! All these years...and she hasnt said anything about the whole Bachchan thing. Its said she cut down on movies on insistence by the Bachachans but look at Aish now. She will do anything for money. Hope she STOPS being so underated!!!! And start acting like a DIVA.....
