Which actress had the best 2010?

Now that we have come to the end of 2010 let us analyse how our top actresses fared critically and commercially in their films in the year.

Kajol: Kajol started off the year with My Name Is Khan and the film was a moderate success. Her performance was not praised much, because the limelight was already stolen by Shahrukh Khan. She was praised by critics for her performance in We Are Family, her next release, but unfortunately the film tanked miserably. Her last release of the year was Toonpur Ka Superhero with her husband Ajay Devgn and like all their previous outings together this neither worked critically nor commercially.

Katrina Kaif: This year didn't see much of Katrina. Though she had two films releasing in Raajneeti and Tees Maar Khan, she barely had a role in the movies to be considered a lead actress. Still, Raajneeti was a hit and received good reviews, but her performance drew in the most flak, though it was barely about 20 minutes. In Tees Maar Khan, she had literally nothing to do and the film received the worst reviews, not just from the critics, but from the audience too. Thanks to the huge promotions, the film had a good opening weekend but immediately had a 70% drop as the word of mouth spread. One Hit and one Flop but her acting skills are still debatable.

Kareena Kapoor: Kareena's first release was Milenge Milenge, an absolute disaster at the Box office - critically trashed as well. Her next release was a flop too in We are family. Though she had some acting to do in the film, she was completely overshadowed by Kajol. In her 3rd release Golmaal 3, both her role and the film received bad reviews again. Yet, the film was successful thanks to the success of its prequels. Kareena Kapoor had a horrible 2010.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Her first two releases were Raavan and Raavanan. While the first one tanked at the boxoffice, second one was a superhit. But both the versions got widely appreciated abroad. New York Times designated the film as a critics' pick - the first of its kind for an Indian film. She recently picked up her Best actress award at the Anandalok Puraskar awards too. Her third release was the All-Time-Blockbuster Endhiran/Robot. The film was not only a big step ahead in Indian sci-fi filmmaking, but it was also called fresh and original by the Hollywood folk. The film broke all records and has recorded as the highest grossing Indian film ever - both in India and abroad, beating 3 Idiots, Dabangg etc. Her fourth release was Action Replayy. The film was not well received by the critics, but Ash's performance was given brownie points. The film was just average at the box office. Her last release of the year was Guzaarish, been called one of the best films of the year by many, though it was unable to recover its costs. It was highly critically acclaimed, so were its performances. Aishwarya has already been voted the best actress of the year for the film in public polls over the Internet. It has been a very good year for Aishwarya. One blockbuster, one superhit, one average, two flops at the box office, where as Four critically acclaimed films and one critically trashed film.

Deepika Padukone: Deepika had 5 releases this year too. Karthik Calling Karthik was critically appreciated but was a flop. Housefull was trashed by critics but was a hit. Lafangey Parindey was both a critical and commercial flop, so was Break Ke Baad (but the film was made on a small budget so it didn't entail any losses). Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey received great praise but it also was one of the biggest duds of the year. This year did nothing for Deepika in terms of her own performances. Except for her short role in KHJJS for which she was appreciated, there wasn't one film she was appreciated in. A bad year for Deepika.

Vidya Balan: Vidya had just one release early this year - Ishqiya and the film received very good reviews, though it did not work wonders at the box office. But Vidya recently received the Big Star Entertainer of the year (female) award for the film.

Priyanka Chopra: This year proved a really bad year for Priyanka, who had two films and both of them flopped at the box office. Pyaar Impossible and Anjaana Anjaani did nothing for her and her career.

Bipasha Basu: Terrible year for Bipasha. She had three releases this year - Pankh, Lamhaa and Aakrosh. All three of them were flops at the box office and were highly criticized by critics.

Going by the quality of films, box office success, critical praise and judging their performances, I rank my top 3 in the following order:
