Less than 24 hours after it was reported that actor Saif Ali-Khan had snagged Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Natalie Portman to star in his next film and less than 12 hours after it was reported that the actress' lawyers had swiftly responded to the internet claims by reportedly serving Ali-Khan's Illuminati Films with a 'cease and desist' legal notice as well as a demand for an immediate public apology...Ali-Khan has come clean. He made up the rumour.

In a statement issued to Joginder Tuteja of Glamsham.com he has said to the actress:

"It was a joke, I am sorry."

Furthermore, the actor explained that he made up the story when he became tired of answering personal questions and that he hopes the public will understand.

ya public understands totally.. no movies releasing at the moment to talk about... no news about wedding so let me talk some nonsense.. Saif, no one is interested in you or your wedding... its the press which comes up with news to make their bread and butter... people have their own life and when thy get a min or then they read about you actors... Personally i care a damn about these actors...

Oh Saif, you sad, sad, sad man.

Aristocrat's picture

so the most he can come up with is "It was a joke, I am sorry." & "he made up the story when he became tired of answering personal questions"..... how about not answer them at all and walk away like a lot of stars do. SMDH.

Oh geez, how desperate can you get Saif? How much publicity do you need? Trying to break into the international news now with a false story? Lies may fly in Bollywood but you can't get away with such blatant rumour mongering in Hollywood, how unprofessional!

u have to realize that in bollywood if given an inch, they'll take a mile. they do need to be given a harsh reality check instead of just a slap on the wrist. so yes, natalie and team were right to act as they saw fit, they are only doing their job.

He may be an idiot, but Natalie and her crew need to chill. They don't need to go suing for money at every opportunity. Esp something as trivial as this.

Anonymous's picture

LOL, he's such a loser.

Pinkvilla_boy's picture

IF this is true it is indeed quiet embarrassing

*the 20th Century Fix lawsuit was for a copy of their film 'Home Alone.'

Anonymous, they do come after them. After Karan Johar got sued for using 'It's Raining Men' and 'Pretty Woman' without permission, the suit was settled out of court and since then he takes permission for everything he uses and copies, he even took permission to remake Hollywood's 'Stepmom' into 'We are family'. In 2008, hollywood's Warner Bros reportedly sued bollywood's Mirchi Films for copying the title 'Harry Potter' into 'Hari Putar', it was later revealed that 'Hari Putar' was a copy of 20th Century Fox who also sued Mirchi movies. SMH.

whats the big deal if he made a joke about Natalie Portman, her lawyers are greedy they just saw a chance to make some quick money by suing him, Natalie should get flattered that someone from bollywood wants to work with her.

What im going to say is a neutral point of view as a person who have seen both actors' movies but necessary called myself as a "fan" of both:

Well it's crystal clear that Saif has made up that probably to save up his career but actually an harsh response from ms Portman is just exaggerated. Don't want to uncredit her Oscar winning and body of work she built up throughout her carrier,but..

...SUCH AN HARSH RESPONSE WAS NEEDED? REALLY?

Please publish it pinkvilla.

that was hilarious... coz "journalist" in india are a joke

Anonymous's picture

Omg what a hilarious joke, you put an Oscar winner's upcoming films and career at stake..so damn funny! -_-

Anonymous's picture

Saif is so desperate

Anonymous's picture

well that was one way to get attention. Why don't hollywood lawyers come after them when they rip off their storylines and music? now they're even going as far as to copy posters and poses. well it's one thing bollywood is good at- aping.

Anonymous's picture

Omg.. the apology is even more embarassing... Saif is a spoilt brat... how can u joke about someone u barely even know personally.. i think Natalie Portman should sue him back for making a joke about her...

Embarrassing...

Kareena needs to slap some sense into him, money that he should be spending on her he wanted to risk by starting a stupid rumour resulting in firang lawyers chasing his tail.

Anonymous's picture

Not very becoming of a NAWAB !

It's not like he even needed the publicity, they are in the news all the time. He and Kareena act like they hate the attention, and then he is caught red handed spreading a false rumour. Bet he didn't see this coming, lol.

Sheesh, LEO men are so egotistical and insecure.
