Katrina Officially No.1?
Katrina's latest film APKGK is on it's way to become a super hit. The reports have been super and Katrina must be on top of this world. This has definitly been HER year as she has success in Newyork, APKGK, and De Dhan Dhan is expected to open big. If it does, Katrina will have three bonafide Hits in 2009. A year, when there have been very few hits alltogether. There will be no stopping her then.

hritikrules, is your secret screen name katrinarules, b/c u sure seem to like her and promote her as a no. 1 heroine through this post and kat-ranbir as srk-kajol. katrina is now in top commercial heroines but she will be remembered in future decades as a glam-doll, not as a great actress like sridevi or madhuri.
she somehow gives off the energy of 0% attitude and 100% niceness... hence she is very popular.. adored by desi men and women across the board. to a very sick poster who hung out on another post recently who claimed that desi women do not like fair complexioned stars and are jealous of them-- explain Katrina's immense popularity (and Karisma for that matter- who was adored by desi women)?
She may not have acting abilities.. she may not be Indian... she may not even have the best facial features of India... she may not have a lot of things it takes to be a decent actress.. but she has one thing in spades: LIKEABILITY.
all one needs in Bollywood is a 'beautiful face' and dancing abilities to be an actress.. that's what Hema Malini had stated, in fact (to the question that one needs to be a size 0 to be a star today). so yeah.. she's #1 (for now.. each week, this changes). she's not a size 0, she has a lovely 'fair complexioned' look, so-so reasonably ok to good facial features-- and she's popular and likeble. She knows all the big ones in the industry.
She's 0% Indian and she doesn't speak Hindi well.. acting abilities is 'learn as you act', dancing abilities somewhat ok.. and that's about what is takes these days to be a #1 most loved top star. it's shallow, but yeah.. that's where today's values are. read the posts on Pinkvilla bashing desi women left and right to up their fave stars.. so IT'S NO SURPRISE SHE'S #1. SHE REFLECTS THE VALUES OF THE AUDIENCE. Nothing against her.. but society should be a little surprised that a non-desi becomes their Indian barbie. but alas.. no

YES!! It pains me to say this. But truthfully Katrina is the No.1 heroine in Bollywood cinema based on her box office clout, HUGE popularity, and the support she gets from the audience.
No other current heroine in Bollywood brings her own huge popularity to the box office these days except for Katrina. APKGH was only a hit movie because of the comedy genre & because of KATRINA!! Ranbir has very little box office pull and his other past movies were either flops or above average grossers. Katrina gave Ranbir his first hit movie. Katrina has the same box office clout that Sridevi and Madhuri had in their hey days. I think Katrina is not talented. But the fact is Katrina is the No.1 heroine at the moment based on her having way more hits than the rest in Bollywood and having box office clout!!
I Agree with falcon...she is a bankable star n thats what matters nowadays...you ppl discussing her proves it She is a Star wether u like it or not, producers are running after her yes, thats makes her NO.1...otherwise why do ppl go n watch her films...agreed she did films with well known stars but she also did New York And APKGK with non- bankable actorsand it proved to be one of the biggest hit of the year, that what NO.1 means. She is smart in choosing her films too.

As long as one has ear plugs handy than she is halfway bearable. She should just speak in English from now on. Her Hindi/Urdu dialogue is pathetic.
Ajab Prem was wonderful, New York and NL were wonderful films! Go Katrina you rock ignore these haters.
i saw APKGH after reading the great reviews.....the truth is, it was pretty bad. if u havent seen it, dont waste ur time. Ranbir is fantastic as usual, but the dialogue, and the direction is very poor.
on top of this, katrina kaif has once again proved why she should not be acting in high profile films. she was terrible. the most unbearable thing about it was every time she spoke with her fake indian accent, that ends up coming out english anyway. its hard to take her seriously as a bollywood actress when she sounds ridiculous when speaking hindi.

you do realize that its the public who make a star what they are...if people are talking abt her, its coz we choose to...if we love her, its coz we choose to...if we hate her, its coz we choose to...and if the public stops watching her films, then she is no longer gonna be considered a hit...so actually we can do everything abt it...
no she isnt number one in acting. priyanka in kaminey is awesome. kareena in qurbaan is gonna rock. kajol in my name is khan is gonna be great. and kareena and kajol and stepmom is gonna bring the house down. katrina was good in new york. so from this how does anyone pic number one. and before this we had manisha in bombay, karishma in zubeida, rani in black and veer zaara, kajol in ddlj , kajol and rani in kkhh, kareena in jab we met, dev, chameli, kajol dushman and gupt, rani hum tum, preity kya keha and dil hai tumhara and kal ho na ho. so what is NUMBER ONE
Katrina is sooo No. 1 when people like you talk about her nonstop...paragraphs dedicated to her either negative or postive..goes to show u she is in everyones skin. Love her or hate her..shes here baby. And aint nothing you guys can do about it!

If you look at the movies Katrina has done they have all been with big stars. You might say her movies with those stars work whereas others do not but then it might be pure luck that Katrina was in Race and Partner that appealed to the masses because they were meant to be big grossers and not meant as experimental movies (which gross less). It is also pure luck that she was in the high point of Akshay's career (before people started getting tired of his movies) when he had hits with Vidya and Lara as well.Therefore, take her away from a big star and no one will care. Actually I am willing to say that if Katrina was replaced by Lara Duta in her movies we would actually be talking about Lara right now.
It really does not matter what box office record she has because in the long run one looks at this period one will definitely not see Katrina as No. 1 because she has no memorable movies. On the other hand Rani, Madhuri, Preity and Kajol have memorable movies and are still remembered.
don't know. the no.1 thing existed in pre-2000's b/c for ppl like madhuri or sridevi when the entry was as hard as the exit in the industry and now the entry is as easy as the exit. but she is in the commercially top heroines along with pri, kareena and deepika for sure.

none of the best actors today are the best 'actors'....if the number one position in bollywood was purely for acting, then stars like irfan khan, anupam kher and all would have been at the top...and actresses like konkana sen sharma and nandita das would have been regarded amongst the best...but unfortunately acting has nothing to do with who is number one nowadays...so by that regards, kat can be number one...

i agree with your point that there is a diff between a STAR and ACTOR...katrina is by no means a great actress, but she is definitely a star...probably the biggest...but in my opinion, it kinda sucks that she is treated as the biggest and best female in the industry, when they are so many much much more talented 'actresses' than her...but i guess STARS get more attention and love than actually talented ACTORS...

Example: This is an arabic singer (Kathem al Saher 52 years old and single)...the guy looks ugly http://www.hitmarker.com/photos/b-kazem-al-saher.jpg okay scary, but he is more famous then anybody around arabic people. Let's just say one of the bollywood flop actresses like Minissha Lamba or Kim Sharma ends up dating him and decide to act in arabic movies: ARABIC CINEMA WILL GET A BOOST! Everyone will love minissha or kim in the arab countries. What these actresses couldn't achieve in Bollywood they will achieve in Arabic Cinema not because they're soooo talented but just because they're the GIRLFRIEND OF. People are going to be interested to see the girlfriend of their favorite singer in movies sooooo suddenly Kim will be hugely popular.
Uhum this example is applaible on miss wooden katrina kaif. This woman is interesting. I HATE HER! But i do google her name cuz i'm interested to see pictures of her with salman etc...and other people want to see the girlfriend of their darling salman in cinemas and ofcourse there is the european factor which attracts people.
Here are some ways to get her off the NO 1 spot:
1. She becomes ugly or fat.
2. Salman dumps her and accuses her of something bad.
3. Well okay i am mean but it's true: she doesn't survives a disease or car accident.
4. If she doesn't has a visa: GET THAT BIATCH DEPORTED!
5. People get bored seeing her everywhere everytime.
6. She does something bad in public.
7. She marries salman and becomes fat and a mum.

look i am arguing based solely on katrina's STARDOM!! i fail to see how that would be overrated going by her movie verdicts ... all but yyuvraaj were huge money spinners with different actor, directors and banners !!
