Rajeev Masand: The Unprofessional A-list Actor
Rajeev Masand's blind item for this week's Open Magazine post is a lot easier to guess than last week's: As Unprofessional As Ever Notorious for his unprofessional on-set behaviour, this A-list male star has been claiming that he’s turned over a new leaf. The unexpected runaway success of his pet project last year may have given him a confidence boost, but despite his claims insiders say he’s still very much the spoilt brat. The actor still doesn’t show up before 2 pm for a 9 am shift, and once on set, allegedly changes scenes and dialogues if he doesn’t think they work. It isn’t unusual for him to literally ‘take over’ the action sequences from the director, and to plan them and execute them himself with some help from the action director. The cameraman of his most recent film reveals that the star has very little patience when it comes to lighting up a shot. “When I asked for an hour in between shots to light up the next, he threw a fit and threatened to leave if I was going to waste his time,” the troubled technician reveals. The actor is believed to have added dismissively: “That’s what colour-correction is for. Fix the lighting in post-production.” There are rumours that the actor is personally supervising the editing of the film, taking crucial decisions over the director. The film’s producer, an old friend of the star, has allegedly given him carte blanche on the project, thereby alienating other technicians, including the exasperated director who isn’t thrilled about being forced to take a backseat.

i dont understand why masand is after salman khan and family. is it some sort of personal clash which is is bringing out using his media credentials. it is obviously salman khan he is talking about. he is the one always late on the sets but he always makes it up one way or other and this is what most the people working with him say. he himself has admitted to this fact that he isn't punctual at all. but the tantrums... we ll may be afterall he is a human and Being Human means doing such things sometimes :p

@ Naveed, I don't live in Eng but have watched Masand's television show and the guy knows what he's talking about. Unlike Salman and others, he is trained in film and has a great aesthetic. Salman is the branded bully of Bollywood, if you're searching for documented, "empirical" evidence just watch the way Ranbir and Imran talk about him on KWK, it's not admiration, it's fear.

@ Naveed, what qualifies you to say Masand is a moron? The guy has journalistic credentials...and has worked hard, OK. He wouldn't risk all that for a dumb column. Salman on the other side is notorious for his partying and creating ruckus on set, something confirmed by multiple sources.

If you are from Eng then I kindly suggest you to listen to BBC Asian Network in the morning. A show called Love Bollywood where masnad comes on and you will realize why I called him a moron. Secondly, you saying Salman is notorious in causing trouble at sets is wayyy of the mark. Salman has only done that once at the sets of Chalte Chalte. Ask all people except pathetic journalists like masnad and Salman is the ultimate professional. He himself admits that he comes late (which is bad) but saying that he causes trouble is FALSE.
This article is clearly referring to the clash with Salman and Bazmee and both have many times clarified that nothing happened. If he was such a trouble maker then why are YRF begging him to work with them why are all film makers after him. Even ghai was saying in the morning in the paper that Salman is a star and that he is a professional.
