it's tragic that 35+ in a woman has to be a 'terrible secret'.

youth is such a big factor in INdia for females, it's tragic. it ties into being fertile and having babies and the role of 'females'. tragic because overpopulation in India is increasing the poverty for the children by a hundred-fold , and the pressure of women to have kids gives rise to un-wanted kids. fertility is the #1 reason for being a woman (hence a woman must look 20 and baby-faced all the time)-- else she's useless.

our heroines are meant to represent the highest a female can be: sadly that means 20 and fertile and not a woman but a mindless little thing that smiles and can be controlled like a baby. it takes brains and often age-wisdom to be a movie star-- and yet they need to be 20. is it any surprise then that our film stars are back-dating their age? do we see any pretty and lively heroines on screen over 40 -- not really. Unlike the West, we have not accepted them...

so it's a crime that she's over 35 (if she really is)???!!! oh wow. no wonder Bollywood films are not getting the respect they crave.. with teeny-bopper films time and time again.

and you know what, the back-dating of years doesn't just rest on film stars. Our friend in Delhi stated-- nearly 85% of his female friends back-date their birth certificate/age by 2 years approx -- to find suitable mates in the arranged marriage market and/or look younger for job interviewing, etc.!! so this back-dating is something not just our movie stars do (ie. everyone from Sri to Rekha to Mad to Aish to Pri to Kar to the entire lot of them might be likely doing it).... the demand of youth is terrible for females !! why blame one Kat on this (if she is guilty?)
