Parveen babi the first indian actress to appear on times magazine looks amazing. I think Parveen was very beautiful, while zeenat was always the hot and bold one. They fit in todays age.

lol! This was way before I was born but the woman on Time Parveen Babi looks like Priyanka somewhat! She is pretty!
Rekha, especially in the small profile pic and Waheeda. Gorgeous South Indian women. Smita's not here but those are the top three for me.
Parveen and Zeenat are my favorites from all. They were gorgeous, both face and body wise.
Zeenat was so Fab! There is no one like her. Parveen's face is a bit too square and masculine for me. Rekha was awesome too but she wore too much make up.
It wasn't just Bollywood...that was pretty much the trend the world over. Read somewhere that by today's standards Marilyn Monroe would be considered a little fat. Barring a few actors/directors/movies, bollywood's style has been fairly influenced by Hollywood (including as far back as Nargis/Dev Anand days).
Zeenat and to some extent Parveen Babi would meet today's standards of ideal body types. They were gorgeous, but not necessarily original (in their sensibilities)..as they were simply 2 beautiful Indian women who were heavily inspired by western styles/mannerisms.
Desirable body types are also a sign of the times..Back in the older days when food was not as abundant (and even now..in many poorer countries like some parts of Africa, India to some extent) curvy or slightly fatter body types were more desirable because they represented a better chance of survival of the mate (and thus the offspring) in tougher times.
However, now when food is abundant in most countries and chances of situations like drought/famine are rarer, fatter/curvy bodies lose out to fitter bodies (as a healthy/active/fit looking female seems to provide the best probability of providing a healthy offspring).
I've oversimplified a general theory:)...would love to know what others think about this???

Parveen Babi was beautiful
Zeenat/ Parveen/ Rekha are the Ginger type and Mumtaz/ Dimple/ Hema are the Maryann type. The girl next door and the seductress... not much has changed today in the way Bollywood portrays women but the lines are blurring.
None of these women were really fat. They were not toned. However, Zeenat was always toned, you can tell she worked out, I am guessing jogging. Sharmila Tagore had a darling little figure. In the early 80's, Rati Agnihotri had a flawless figure.
Neetu used to be quite cheap looking. Her mother was a beauty parlor worker. With dimple-rishi breakup, neetu eased in and took good care of rishi. It was a huge step up for her. She worked as a child star, then major exposure photos during teens as mom tried to make ends meet. With the kapoor khandaan link, she was thrust into major league. She has to stop being so possessive on her mama's boy ranbir.
the Priyankas and Deepikas of today cannot hold a candle to Zeenat Aman...if you look at her movie clips from the 70's and 80's, even when she was wearing revealing clothes, there was a grace and dignity about her that the actresses of today do not have despite the greater social acceptance of revealing clothes and open relationships.
