Ranbir Kapoor - Above the Khans?
The heart throb of the nation who has been in the news for all sorts of reasons (good or bad) seems to be taking the 'Kapoor' surname quite seriously. Yes, we are talking about Ranbir Kapoor. The Kapoor's are known to be THE most passionate about cinema and Ranbir is no different. In a recent interview with Mid Day he was quoted as saying that he would love to overtake the Khan's one day even though he is aware that they have been around in the industry for over 25 years. Too ambitious you think? Perhaps the day is not too far when he goes right on top, what with the kind of movies he is selecting these days. Started with a "Saawariya" and then went onto star in movies that were drastically different from each other in terms of the roles he played: a typical college boy passionate about photography in "Wake Up Sid" and a conniving member of a political family in "Rajneeti" to a struggling singer in "Rockstar". This Kapoor boy has what it to takes to reach the top especially since that is what he striving for. In an interview with NDTV a month back, he spoke about how wanted to be the No.1, and this journey of doing films was to get there. Never the one to mince his words, Ranbir has been extremely forthcoming in his interviews. Too frank for his own good? The "Rockstar" image on celluloid does not really transpire off screen. For starters, he might need to change his stylist considering his choice of dressing could prove to be a huge letdown for teenagers who make the core of his fan following. Also, in many of his interviews, he comes across as somebody trying too hard to portray a certain kind of image which in reality is not him. The superficiality could turn out to be a letdown. Well, love him or hate him, this woman's man (though he claims he is far from being one and the one that his mother claims he is) is definitely here to stay since his choice of movies are quite faultless. He just need to act some cheap movies like khans (except Amir) to takeover their kingdom.
i doubt he will takeover the khans anytime soon. heck even hrithik for that matter.

Ranbir is the best among all the actors exist in India.
I appreciate ranbit for doing meaningful cinemas like rocket singh,wake up sid but he has a long way to go.
Srk,Salman are too powerful even for hrithik, let alone ranbir.Amir cannot cement his top position in bollywood the way srk and salman can.3 idiots might have been the biggest blockbuster of hindi cinema but that is followed by bodyguard and ready.Now don2 and ra1 is a serious challenger to it.Shahid is too self obsessed,has tons of ego problems and more worried about his hair to compete with the khans or even hrithik.
If there is one person who can beat salman and srk's box office success in bollywood , it is only HRITHIK but he needs the help of good directors like rakesh roshan,imitaz ali,mani ratnam etc to cement his no 1 position in bollywood.

Achievements doesn't mean only hit movie, Ranbir is overall most successful in a very short time. Look his haters r more desperate than his fans. How many actors gets comparison with top stars so early?

Aamir's QSQT and Salman's MPK (1st main lead film) were really big hits. In 1994 Salman's hum aapke hai kaun released. It became the highest grossing film in Indian cinema. That film only released 5-6 years in Salmans career. Dont know what you are on, but I dont see Ranbir giving the highest grossing film in bollywood at least for another 10-15 years.
Actually 25+ girl/ guys grown up seeing the khans, so they already had their icon/ idol/favorite. Ranbir is the icons of new generation. He already ranks 3/4 in every countdown, may b 3/4 years he will make himself in top.
replacing khans when they are getting old or will be at their 50's or 60's i don't think so will never be an achievement whether for freshers like ranbir, imran,ranvir or shahid or some experience holders like hritik etc
if you have really something in you than please try it when they are literally ruling in all senses means right now
so if u are really better and bigger than them then dont waste your time and puhlease dont wait for five or ten long years to prove that what is your real worth bcoz at that time it will be of no use.
and first give atleast one blockbuster or all time blockbuster with monster openings like khans as openings depends upon the craze about the movie trailer as well as actors stardom starring in the movie than claim such high and big positions.
Ranbir is only 2 years older than me however I don't find him appealing and don't see much of any sexual appeal, chemistry or spark or whatever you might call it in him. Salman and Shahrukh are lots older but that have this appeal that Ranbir lacks.
I think he is very talented. I also think that as long as the Khans are on top, no one will really get much of a chance. Hrithik had his initial success, until the Khans took it away again somehow. I think that the new people don't realize the depth of the 3 Khans' success. They have all been around for a long time. It wasn't a "They came / They saw / They conquered" type. All of them worked really really hard to get the success which they rightfully deserve. And more than anything, Salman, SRK, and Aamir have star quality which make up for many things.
Personally, I don't look forward to any movie as much as I look forward to the Khans' films.
Kabir Khan: Absolutely. He has the talent, he has the following, he has the charisma and he has what is the most elusive of them all: huge box office success. But he still needs a larger body of work to totally cement his status.
Ken Ghosh: There never was any doubt about him being an accomplished actor and in the “top group”. After Raajneeti where he was surrounded by acting greats, he surpassed himself.
Madhur Bhandarkar: Ranbir is doing a very good balancing act with the kind of cinema that he is doing. I am very impressed with the way he is shaping his career. He is doing good and meaningful cinema like Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh. On the other hand he is also doing commercial cinema like Raajneeti. This is good balance and he is going to be there for a long run.
Sajid Khan Sajid Khan: Of course he is. Why just now? He was a superstar the day he signed so many films even after the debacle of Saawariya.
Sudhir Mishra: I have not seen such clear focus and direction in someone so young. He was not falling in the rut or mocking anybody. He has carved a unique niche for himself. He is respectful and is a superbly brought up boy. I don’t think anyone has a doubt anymore about his superstardom.
This is opinion of some great director of bollywood who comment on Ranbir in 2010 and i hope after Rockstar it will be increased.
He is world class actor, not perfect for bollywood what needs over acting.
Ranbir is not even close to being number 1. Maybe someday he will be... but right now the khans rule Bollywood.
Ranbir will definitely be no. 1 in the near future!

but don't worry baby it is so impossible for you because you might be having looks ,talent, surname but you are not the only one with these qualities in the whole film industry such as hritik ,shahid, imran, akshay etc etc etc but other than that one thing which is also common in between all of these people including ranbir is that they lack the most enduring and endearing persona /aura plus charisma which khans i.e. salman, shahrukh and aamir highly possess
and last but not the least that is the ans for people who think people are bored of them or getting bored so in that case i think people are not bored of them instead of that i guess people are so much used to or in love with them that they are constantly making their movies blockbuster or all time blockbusters.

As an actor, he is good. But yes, like the rest of the industry, he too is fake & tries too hard to be a good boy. Neetu Kapoor says he's Raymond - The Complete Man, but he is a Ladies Man...
of course, he will be no1 in near future..he is a very versatile actor and choosing his films very intelligently..i dont c any actor frm new generation coming close to him except shahid kapoor..next its going to be "Kapoors" (im not talking about Sonam Kapoor) replacing "Khans" its because Khans are getting older, and there should be some1 to replace them.. still they r ruling the industry after Mr.Amitabh Bachchan. and it is not a bad thing to have a huge goal like that, then u can try harder atleast to cum closer to the goal..so, RK, u can do it..all the best for rockstar..and barfee.. :)

I admire Ranbir for his manners, his low-profile personality, his quiet intelligence, and his natural talent. I loved him in rocket singh..how versatile he is! He is charming and good-looking and sexy too. To hear him wanting to be #1 is a bit of a surprise as I always thought him to be very humble. But it is good to think the best of oneself and have a goal to reach...however he measures it. One thing I would always like for him to be is effortlessly himself. Like Salman. Not TRYING to be anything, but being self-assured and himself. Ranbir is certainly going great guns, has amazing potential and I wish him all the best! Go Ranbir! You have everything it takes to reach where you wish to be.

Ranbir is the best actor! I love him soo much. He was so good in Raajneeti. That was a difficult movie to do. He did a great job! Him, Shahid Kapoor, and Imran Khan all are in the competition to become the next star of bollywood. I honestly think Ranbir has what it takes to become the next star. He acts so well. Shahid Kapoor can never act in a complex role well the way Ranbir did! Ranbir is good looking and he can play any role. He is so talented. @ Anonymous he is not pompous ok! He is very honest, and he has a goal in what he wants to do. Whats so terrible about hearing him say that. He is very determined and a very strong person. I love him soo much!
He's too pompous. At least Khans were humble and simple when they started out. They never bragged about overtaking older stars when they made their debuts or gave their first hits. Ranbir has no solo hit yet (relies either on Katrina or is a part of megamultistarrers like Raajneeti), still he keeps talking about ''overtaking Khans''. Get a life mister and concentrate on doing good work!
Hrithik was a RAGE post KNPH, but he was always so humble and grounded. Media kept giving him all kinds of titles, but he never made any pompous declarations, despite being super-talented, super-handsome and giving a megahit film on his own, with his debut. Today's guys should learn from the grace and humility shown by Khans and Hrithik Roshan in their early years.

He is very genuine and earnest in his performance except in Ajab Prem..where i found him struggling to do slapstick.

I absolutely agree! All the khans are in their mid 40s and closer to reaching the age where they can't act as the man hero just like Amit. Ji. I definitely see Ranbir being on top since, he has the talent, looks and the charisma to carry versatile movies.
Yes he has potential, another guy to watch out for is Ranvir Singh, these two have potential to become next superstar.. Although I am not sure if they catake Aamir, SRK and Sallus place.. There is no one who can match SRK and AAmir..
He shouldn't called gen-next superstar because he is already a superstar. He must be called gen-next megastar. And yes he will take over the khans kingdom soon.
HE is only actor except the veteran gave back to back 3 release in 2009, and he is the only one who gives unconventional movie like Wake Up Sid a hit in October and super hit APKGK in November and reasonable business Rocket singh in December in 2009. Hope Rockstar will be the biggest hit ever.
