Do you think he would have said yes if it was his son? I find his "Women joining films never happens with the Dutts" statement pretty sexist.

Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt has showed his discomfort on daughter Trishala’s keenness to join the Indian film industry. Trishala’s mother is late Richa Sharma who was Sanjay first wife.

22-year-old daughter Trishala has expressed her desire to join films to her actor father, but Dutt is not keen about the prospect at all.

Speaking to a daily, Sanjay said, "I am not encouraging my daughter to do films at all. It never happens with the Dutts," he says with an air of finality. "My sisters or my niece could have been in the movies too, but that is not the way my father raised us. This is the way he wanted it. She is keen, but then she has studied forensic science, which is also a great career option."

And what if the Trishala doesn’t listen to him? "She will have to listen to me," asserts Dutt. The father daughter duo have earlier had very public spats and Trishala was also against Sanjay’s present wife Manyata initially.

In an interview, Trishala had also stated, "Ultimately, the decision is mine. I will do what I think is best for me and what makes me happy".

Looks like another family feud will unfold soon at the Dutt household.

Sanjay dutt is so mean and he should let her daughter do acting because he has had his time and now it is his daughter's turn sanjay dutt is SELFISH

NASTY

someone tell sanjay dutt to go jump off a balcony and shut the **** up.

Yeah, it is extremely hypocritical. That's why I don't like the Kapoors. Look at Ranbir's sister, she could have easily been another kapoor girl in films but instead they marry her off while Ranbir paints the town red. I am more uncomfortable with the sexist behaviour rather than Salman dancing with his sister in law (I know tons of people had trouble with that). At least they're open rather than making Satyam Shivam Sundaram soft porn like the Kapoors. Would Raj Kapoor have directed the same movie if it was Kareena or one of his daughters starring in it instead of Zeenat Aman.

When men make statements like that it shows how little they respect the industry they work in and their own female co-stars. It is uncomfortable to watch your daughter become objectified by sleazy creeps but since these guys have no problems being part of the objectification then why whine about it.

Besides Trishala's basically grown up without her dad. Why in the world should she listen to him now?

Anonymous's picture

Doesn't she resemble Khloe KArdashian? The fat Kardashian sister?

Anonymous's picture

Karisma and Kareena werent really talented at the beginning of their careers .. stop forgetting that! Remember Kareena's 'main prem ki deewani hoon' and 'yaadein' phase .. *gags*

trishala has shed so much weight already, check out her new pictures guys. She looks lovely.

Anonymous's picture

She doesnt stand a chance at being succesful. Her looks are not bollywood type. He knows that. Most of women from acting families have not been succesful.. except Karisma and Kareena , thats coz they are talented and have the c onventionally marketable looks.

Anonymous's picture

he's feral. and his daughter is pretty but needs to lose a LITTLE weight.

Anonymous's picture

trishala is on twitter and she is just FAB!!! I love this girl SO much...my fav celebrity kid for sure! and might I add she is drop dead gorgeous.

Agree with all that has been said by some commenters here, including Mon, 2011-08-15 04:49 — Anonymous--

'So it's okay for him to walk around baring his chest at 52 and ogling at Lisa Hayydon and Lara Dutta in bikinis, but he doesn't want his daughter o be part of all that? If you don't think it's respectful to women to have them wear teensy clothes and be part of sexual situations in films, then don't be part of that culture yourself. That's basically saying that it's okay for other women to be treated like sex kittens and he'll do it himself, as long as it's not a member of HIS family. GROSS. And to those who've pointed out that Bollywood is not a safe place for women, any career is what you make of it............................................................. Things are corporatized now, the boys and girls coming into the industry are often knowledgeable and from educated backgrounds. The truth is Sanjay Dutt views women as property, has neglected his daughter, and does not want to be reminded of his age by having his grown child working in films as a lead actress. Jerk! I mean seriously, if family were so important to him, he wouldn't have turned on his sisters, who supported him through thick and thin, during his political phase.'

Agree totally. And Sunjay Dutt is definitley sexist, has made so many remarks against sisters using Dutt surname, that sort of regressive thing....I feel that Trishala should simply try her luck in serious US tv/theatre, use her degree fruitfully, make a name for herself ...without being afraid of her gunda dad. He is so wrapped up in his new family, he doesn't want any presence from old life around in Mumbai. My best wishes to this motherless girl.

What a load of patriarchal bullcrap.
In this day and age too ! has this guy even got an education ? Coz his out dated beliefs and ignorance is showing.

Anonymous's picture

I feel so bad for trishala....she has a jerk of a father. how dare anyone consider sanjay dutt a "father" let the devil take over his soul as soon as possible and may trishala remain a rose forever.

donating sperm does not make one a father :) you do know right, that Sanjay is a deadbeat dad when it comes to Trishala? like he says ''I am very much at peace. I have two beautiful kids and a lovely wife, what else could one want?" DUDE he just said TWO kids, he doesnt even consider trishala as his offspring! Why should he have a right to dictate her life? She's legally an adult and can do whatever she likes. This guy is just a sexist jerk, trishala has been in New York all her life and has been brought up and cared for by her maternal grandparents and aunts. Where has this guy been all these years? Trishala is sadly, just an inconvenience for him. Who IS HE to reject any of her decisions?

Even SRK made a similar statement that he can never see his daughter as an actress, but he doesn't mind if his son becomes an actor. I can understand that they want to be protective. But how is the profession of an actress bad? They have to do the same things that a male actor has to.

Anonymous's picture

in response to comment regarding Amitabh and Shweta..Shweta wouldn't stand a chance as a heroine.
she is way to masculine looking to be cast opposite any hero.

however i do agree that generally bollywood actors dont want their daughters in this line..unless they want to make money of them. Sonam kapoor did not finish her 12th (and had no scope of completing it)and had no career options hence she had to come into movies otherwise i am sure her dad would have no allowed her to do movies as well.

Anonymous's picture

Kapoors r same they don't wants their girls join in bollywood bcoz they r protective nd love their daughters.

Kitty's picture

Yeah that's sexist of him...anyway I'm sure no one would try anything shady with her, knowing that Sanjay Dutt is her dad?

Nairobi's picture

He's just a protective father. I wouldn't let my daughter (or myself in fact) to join the film industry. It's nice to LOOK at; but living it might be completely different.

Anonymous's picture

It's not wise of him to say so publicly. It will only want to make her rebel. And she she will start blaming him. But no one is going to cast her. Bollywood is run like the mafia. No one would dare to go against the Dutt gang and his camp.

GOOD GOD SAVE US FROM MORE TALENTLESS KIDS

well, it's her life and she can have the final decision!!! Let him bully his new wife!!

"so when an insider like SD don't want girl's from his family to be in Movies.. that means he knows alot of what is going on inside... whch meas all we see happy pretty faces... they all have atleast sUckEd Dick to come up !"

I agree with this comment completely. We do not know what goes on behind doors and with the casting couch SD may have geniune concern for not wanting his daughter to join the industry. I will always remember the comment Shakti Kapoor made that even top actresses like Preeti Zinta and Aish Rai had to sleep with producers and directors.

Anonymous's picture

It's his daughter and his decision. He does not need the smart ones at pinkvilla telling him what to do :-)

Anonymous's picture

"Women joining films never happens with the Dutts"
oh Yeah that's right..
I think Mr.DUTT forgot that his mother (Nargis DUTT) was a film actress & a damn fine one at that!

Anonymous's picture

well if he's entitled to seperate from his wife, then the daughter least is entitled to her own decision for her career...lol

And to those who've pointed out that Bollywood is not a safe place for women, any career is what you make of it. People sleep around in any field to get ahead (I'm not judging them - to each his/her own), but if you don't want to, you don't have to. Furthermore, it isn't as if men aren't being subjected to the infamous "casting couch"; it's one's choice if one wants to get ahead based on sexual favors or on one's own talent. It isn't as if this is the 80s and sleazy producers are calling impressionable small-town girls into their offices for "screen tests." Things are corporatized now, the boys and girls coming into the industry are often knowledgeable and from educated backgrounds. The truth is Sanjay Dutt views women as property, has neglected his daughter, and does not want to be reminded of his age by having his grown child working in films as a lead actress. Jerk! Anonymous's picture

I don't think anyone in Bollywood would even think about raising the wrath of Sanjay Dutt by hiring his daughter without his consent. His friends with most of the industry and is politically connected.

Anonymous's picture

can someone please clarify whether Trishala has done a law degree or studied for forensic science.
