Sanjay Dutt says no to daughter Trishala’s Bollywood dreams
Do you think he would have said yes if it was his son? I find his "Women joining films never happens with the Dutts" statement pretty sexist. Courtesy: Zee News Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt has showed his discomfort on daughter Trishala’s keenness to join the Indian film industry. Trishala’s mother is late Richa Sharma who was Sanjay first wife. 22-year-old daughter Trishala has expressed her desire to join films to her actor father, but Dutt is not keen about the prospect at all. Speaking to a daily, Sanjay said, "I am not encouraging my daughter to do films at all. It never happens with the Dutts," he says with an air of finality. "My sisters or my niece could have been in the movies too, but that is not the way my father raised us. This is the way he wanted it. She is keen, but then she has studied forensic science, which is also a great career option." And what if the Trishala doesn’t listen to him? "She will have to listen to me," asserts Dutt. The father daughter duo have earlier had very public spats and Trishala was also against Sanjay’s present wife Manyata initially. In an interview, Trishala had also stated, "Ultimately, the decision is mine. I will do what I think is best for me and what makes me happy". Looks like another family feud will unfold soon at the Dutt household.

It's not sexist. He has been a player in the industry and the women are sexually abused in the industry. No father or family member would want their sisters and daughters in it. Trust me I know what sexism is, I am a feminist. This is not sexism. He's a protective father. Trishala just wants an easy way out with entitlement glamor in the Bollywood world rather than working actually for a living.
SANJAY DUTT DEFINITELY BELONGS TO THE OLD MINDSET, AND HE CAN NOT CURB HIS DAUGHTER'S DREAMS IN THE NAME ''BOLLYWOOD IS A DIRTY WORLD' AND ALL THAT.
DID HE REALLY SAY MADHURI SHOULD USE HER HUSBANDS NAME AND LOOK AFTER KIDS AND NOT COME TO MUMBAI TO WORK, TOTALLY WRONG MINDSET HE SHOULD BE REMANDED TO MAKE SUCH PUBLIC OUTBURSTS, WOMEN RAE NOT JUST WIFES AND MOTHERS THEY ARE MORE THAN THAT.
I don't know about sanjay being sexist ...but i do know for sure is he doesn't have any rights to make her decision for he didnt care to look after her at all, and he recently said in an interview "i have two beautiful kids and a wife who adores me"...WTF, he forgot Trishala. Two beautiful kids(THE TWINS)..and what about TRISHILA,...thats all messed up
i understand what he is trying to say here. most parents in our country wouldnt want their daughters to get into the film line/modeling, etc.
and sanjay being a part of this industry for so many years now, definitely knows the situation very well. and he probably thinks it's not a good idea.
that said, i'm all for woman power! if trishala really really wants to do it, then great!
what is "casting couch"?
What a chauvenist!
clearly, Sanju is ruled by his wife so his daughter has no place in his life..the so-called Munnabhai should be practicing Gandhi-giri after all...
Generally , no bollywood father wants his daughter to come into tinsel town- reasons we all know - casting couch, skin show, being sex symbol, affairs/ media gossip etc. All want to protect their daughters from the dirty world. Amitabh also got Shweta married at early age between (20-25) didn't think of her career, but is always supporting Abhishek's career
On the other hand, I do think Sanjay is sexiest. He has earlier made remarks- women should only use their husband's surname/not fathers. On koffee with karan, when asked about madhuri- he said " what is she doing here? she should go back and look after kids"
umm isn't HE a dutt? that's really unfair and insensible. what's he scared of. she being his daughter, shouldn't face any bad experiences. it's an art medium and this is the 21st century. actors are treated respectably if they make the right choices too. he can guide her. if she wants to go for it, she should. to stop others from their choice of work is cruel and controlling. didn't expect that from sanjay. he needs to trust.
Wow another star kid in line to become an actress...does she even know how to act...i think Sanjay dutt is right. Instead of labeling him as sexist look at the other side. If sanjay is a good actor that does not mean even trishala will be gr8. I think she should listen to her father.
Sanjay Dutt is a sexist pig. He disgusts me.
very wise decision, I wouldn't want my daughter to go though this "CASTING COUCH" creepy thing to please old pervs.Sunjay Dutt have seen it all so he knows what kind of" process" actresses go through in order to cast in movies.
i don't think it's sexist as a father, in bolly, actresses, esp. the beginners are used like hangers and unless you are willing to stomach all the misuse in the beginning, you can't get to the top, that too if you're lucky and only your good karma and god can determine that.
i love Trish on twitter! really sweet and confident! im sure she'll be great in movies! Sanjay is really sexist!
More talentless Bollywood kids trying to make it in based on their talentless parents...what a shocker!
I know trish personally living in New York and being friends with her I can tell you she will not cause no feud with her father or anyone!
it's not sexist. it's just that he doesn't want his daughter to be a sex symbol. maybe few years ago it would have been okay, but not now. all these actresses dress so cheaply and do intimate scenes because they are "integral" to the plot. please, there were more "real" "issue based" cinema before and no one had to strip. where's the bollywood that was bollywood?
Trishala, I'll be the first person in line to see your first movie. She seems confident, cool and knows what she wants. Who cares what Sanjay Dutt says she should do with her life? The guy hasn't made any good choices in his life either. Let her make her own choices. You go, honey!
The dude's pretty sexist in general. He's talked about how women should handle the kitchen and stuff. i remember he was once asked whether his wife made the decisions and he replied, "my wife makes biriyani." Also, he was once asked (on Indian Idol, I think) what his happiest moment was, and he replied that it was the impending birth of his kids with Maanyata, as if Trishala didn't matter at all. Sanjay Dutt is a tool.
