Sanjay Dutt should undergo imprisonment for his crime: Nana Patekar

Sanjay Dutt should undergo imprisonment for his crime: Nana Patekar 0

When asked (by a news channel) about his thoughts on Sanjay Dutt's imprisonment, Nana Patekar took a different stand than most of his B-town colleagues. He said that though Sanjay is not his enemy, he wants Sanjay to undergo imprisonment for his crime. He mentioned that law should be the same for every person and no star should get a special treatment.

He also added that he would not act with him or watch Sanjay's films considering the nature of his crime. He said that people should take a stand and decide whether they want Sanjay free or punished. He implied that if you want him punished, you also need to stop working with him or watching his films.

Well, that is quite a strict stand from the Bollywood powerhouse performer, Nana Patekar. What are your thoughts on this?

Nana Patekar's statement is an example of Hindu Supremacist propaganda BS
==========
What Nonsense...
You are supporting a terrorist ...good for you !!!!He was not jailed under tada because of his political connection else he would have been tagged as a terrorist,...

Agree with the first part, but why do we have to stop watching his films?? It's his job, and he works for money, just like everyone else. How will he provide for his family then?? He does have two small children!!

Yes the law should be the same for everyone...and as for the people who are commenting here Sanjay Dutt supporting terrorist please get your facts correct. He was given a clean chit from TADA. He is been accused only under arms act. (Illegal possession of arms & destroying of evidence)

ONLY ? Illegal possession of arms and destroying evidence is not like pick pocketing on a local bus !
His actions could have had horrible repercussions that could have killed one of your or my loved ones and changed our lives forever.

Don't trivialize a matter just because he acts and dances in movies.

Anonymous's picture

Come on .. Sanjay Dutt didn't go around killing or planning to kill 250 people. He was a pawn, and most likely an unwilling one, who had the choice to either cooperate or suffer the wrath of the mafia.

Nana Patekar's statement is an example of Hindu Supremacist propaganda BS. He is, after all, a Marathi Maanus. I wonder who's pawn he is.

By that logic, if Sanjay Dutt should be imprisoned, then so should pretty much half the country. The Thackerays incited so many riots and so much chaos in the last two decades in the name of friggin religion. They should be the first to be arrested and branded terrorists. It is after all a political game of fear that they play. I mean, get real. Almost every member of parliament, cabinet minister, half the cops in India, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Almost every chief minister and MLA, they are all criminals and should all be arrested.

If this clown Nana Patekar is so puritanical when it comes to Sanjay Dutt, how come he's never commented on the terrorist acts perpetrated by the Thackerays.

celebs are not above the law...but the law needs to be changed. he is an old man now. he was a naive and young back than. have some sense people. the law isn't always right!!!! think for your selves, use your own mind and moral compas. just because it is the god damed law does not mean it is right!!!!! tommarow you could be a victem of the LAW. life is very long you don't know what will happen in your future.

Tomorrow you or your loved one could be a victim of a crime. Will you have the same point of view if the culprit is caught 20 years later? And he was an adult, tried as an adult and punished as an adult. If he had been 16 then your words would have merit but in this case, nah!

I remember the case of an 88 year old guy who sentenced for molesting two little girls under the age of eleven 40 years ago. So what the guy had one foot in the grave, justice is justice no matter how delayed.

I agree with you Nana.

agreed! now onto the stars who need to join sanjay in prison:

Bachchans: For the land seizure cases
Salman khan: Blackbuck case/drunk driving case
Shahrukh Khan: Openly beating a security guard and threatening people with his power status
Kareena Kapoor/Saif Ali Khan: For abusing people just because they wanted privacy

Half of bollywood should be in jail, but because these guys are popular and they milk their money the most they should be first.

ROTFLMAO!!!! Just throw all of Bollywood in jail then. SMH.

Finally someone in Bollywood shows the guts to talk the truth. Commendable!

Anonymous's picture

he speaks the truth...if sanjay dutt is guilty of a crime and has already been proven of it..supporting his release shows disregard for the law..and support for criminals..he may not have committed the crime yesterday but just as our sins count from when we are young to when we die..there isnt a expiry date on the law

filmychica's picture

Kudos.

Really. no one is above the law but unfortunately, it rarely is seen that way in India and amongst $$$$. Ya, sad and pathetic is the situation.

Anonymous's picture

agreed with Nana he is right people died mistakes should be forgiven but what sanjay do was not a mistake people loss there life our own country people where died he deserve more
imprisonment for his crime.

sharon_diva's picture

Finally one sensible celebrity!!!
Justice Katju should listen to this!!!

Anonymous's picture

celebs are not above the law. Sanjay Dutt must go to prison.

Anonymous's picture

any other person in his place would have been in jail for years for the crimes he has committed. his pr has brain washed people that he almost has done nothing that is not true. he has played a role in one of the major terrorist attack on financial capital of India. He must go to prison just like any other citizen.

Anonymous's picture

Agree 100%!

Anonymous's picture

erm..yeah I actually would stop going to that bank...btw bad analogy u used.

agreed with Nana!

Anonymous's picture

Atleast he has the balls to say the truth unlike all the celebs who are supporting a guy (Sanjay Dutt) who actually supported terrorists. Same terrorist who brought our country down on many occasions.

Anonymous's picture

Completely agree. Sanjay Dutt's crime was not something small. Lots of people died.

Anonymous's picture

Totally agree, more respect and movies for this man. Hindi cinema is the moral compass of India. You can see how with its degradation India too is sliding fast. He spoke from a common man's perspective and not a star or actors. So much more needs to be said when it comes to the delusion that the star system has created for the common man. They are paid actors not Gods!

Kitty's picture

He's absolutely right... those celebs who have been found guilty in a court of law should not be able to use their money to delay their inevitable imprisonment. You do the crime, you serve the time just like anyone else. Stop running and take it like a MAN.

The Weird's picture

I have totally boycotted a couple of brands because of their inhumane practices so it's completely doable. Sanjay Dutt is also a brand and it is prerogative of the people to do whatever they want with it. I'm sure plenty of people esp. those affected directly by his actions will never want to see his face ever again. Would you?

The man has also been tried in the court of law. How much proof do people need to believe his actions were criminal? And why should he not be punished? If that's the case then lets free all these random war criminals who look so old and frail just because they look so old and frail. Sanjay Dutt sounds like a nice dude. Let's let him go. Great logic.

Anonymous's picture

Hats off to Nana for not being a bum licker like the others and speaking out what everyone thinks. Criminals should be behind bars, whether politically connected or not.

Anonymous's picture

Everyone has to go through the KARMA.Nana statements is his view of seeing the situation. It does not alter anything.Everyone makes some mistake and they should be given a chance to reform. If one keeps saying that he wont touch, talk, act then they are opening up their karmas .Life teaches everyone so just let go and move on.By making bold statements the punishment doesnt become small or big nor the person gets worst or better. It's his Karma and it has to be death with.Period.

Anonymous's picture

Completely agree...the law should be the same for everyone...

Anonymous's picture

@ ans saying democratic
for ppl like u democratic is the excuse without any justifications.

This is none of Nana's business.Just shows how evil this guy is.

Anonymous's picture

Sanjay Dutt has a heart of gold he should not go to prision

Anonymous's picture

so you would stop going to a local bank for daily banking because a staff from the bank committed a crime? what does that have to do with the bank & its owners? like wise what does the film have to do with sanjay? his only doing his job on it...why wouldnt u watch it?

Anonymous's picture

100% agree. Sanjay Dutt does need to be in Jail. Giving me only 5 years of punishment is shameful. He should be in jail for life.

Anonymous's picture

Completely agree with Nana on this one

Anonymous's picture

Thanks for being reasonable and democratic, Mr. Patekar.

Anonymous's picture

agree with Nana!

Anonymous's picture

need little attention? no one is offering him movies. i never liked this guy, jealous idiot.

Anonymous's picture

Nana Patekar is the only one to take this stand and I salute him for that !!! yes law should be same for all

Anonymous's picture

what if instead of Sanjay Dutt it was Aishwarya rai .. what would you have said!! i bet i would say the same !

Anonymous's picture

He is right. Law must be same and in a country like India it is required.

Anonymous's picture

He is right but very rude too.

saiflove's picture

I really respect # Nana patekar a lot ..... he is a brilliant actor ..... n wat he said is really true .. he spreads the same message in his movies too !! but one thing that one shud not workwith him or watching his films is not fair .... one should work with him aftr his punishment !!!

btw well said .. Nana patekar !!! :)

Anonymous's picture

me too 100% agree...good for Nana Patekar for speaking up. The people should be worshipped for the good deeds they do in the real life vs on the screen.

Anonymous's picture

that's like a man!!!

Anonymous's picture

Wow somebody with the guts to say the truth in bollywood!
How refreshing rather than the usual fakes coddling the criminal Dutt

Anonymous's picture

Finally , a sensible Bollywood actor.

Anonymous's picture

He should also go to jail for molesting and harassing so many starlets in his films, ex Tanushree Dutta.

onlyrani's picture

100% agree.

Anonymous's picture

I completely agree with this... just coz you're a celebrity doesn't mean that you should get special treatment
