Sanjay Dutt should undergo imprisonment for his crime: Nana Patekar

Sanjay Dutt should undergo imprisonment for his crime: Nana Patekar 0

When asked (by a news channel) about his thoughts on Sanjay Dutt's imprisonment, Nana Patekar took a different stand than most of his B-town colleagues. He said that though Sanjay is not his enemy, he wants Sanjay to undergo imprisonment for his crime. He mentioned that law should be the same for every person and no star should get a special treatment.

He also added that he would not act with him or watch Sanjay's films considering the nature of his crime. He said that people should take a stand and decide whether they want Sanjay free or punished. He implied that if you want him punished, you also need to stop working with him or watching his films.

Well, that is quite a strict stand from the Bollywood powerhouse performer, Nana Patekar. What are your thoughts on this?

Agree with the first part, but why do we have to stop watching his films?? It's his job, and he works for money, just like everyone else. How will he provide for his family then?? He does have two small children!!

Yes the law should be the same for everyone...and as for the people who are commenting here Sanjay Dutt supporting terrorist please get your facts correct. He was given a clean chit from TADA. He is been accused only under arms act. (Illegal possession of arms & destroying of evidence)

ONLY ? Illegal possession of arms and destroying evidence is not like pick pocketing on a local bus !
His actions could have had horrible repercussions that could have killed one of your or my loved ones and changed our lives forever.

Don't trivialize a matter just because he acts and dances in movies.

Come on .. Sanjay Dutt didn't go around killing or planning to kill 250 people. He was a pawn, and most likely an unwilling one, who had the choice to either cooperate or suffer the wrath of the mafia.

Nana Patekar's statement is an example of Hindu Supremacist propaganda BS. He is, after all, a Marathi Maanus. I wonder who's pawn he is.

By that logic, if Sanjay Dutt should be imprisoned, then so should pretty much half the country. The Thackerays incited so many riots and so much chaos in the last two decades in the name of friggin religion. They should be the first to be arrested and branded terrorists. It is after all a political game of fear that they play. I mean, get real. Almost every member of parliament, cabinet minister, half the cops in India, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Almost every chief minister and MLA, they are all criminals and should all be arrested.

If this clown Nana Patekar is so puritanical when it comes to Sanjay Dutt, how come he's never commented on the terrorist acts perpetrated by the Thackerays.

celebs are not above the law...but the law needs to be changed. he is an old man now. he was a naive and young back than. have some sense people. the law isn't always right!!!! think for your selves, use your own mind and moral compas. just because it is the god damed law does not mean it is right!!!!! tommarow you could be a victem of the LAW. life is very long you don't know what will happen in your future.

    _____________________________

Tomorrow you or your loved one could be a victim of a crime. Will you have the same point of view if the culprit is caught 20 years later? And he was an adult, tried as an adult and punished as an adult. If he had been 16 then your words would have merit but in this case, nah!

I remember the case of an 88 year old guy who sentenced for molesting two little girls under the age of eleven 40 years ago. So what the guy had one foot in the grave, justice is justice no matter how delayed.

agreed! now onto the stars who need to join sanjay in prison:

Bachchans: For the land seizure cases
Salman khan: Blackbuck case/drunk driving case
Shahrukh Khan: Openly beating a security guard and threatening people with his power status
Kareena Kapoor/Saif Ali Khan: For abusing people just because they wanted privacy

Half of bollywood should be in jail, but because these guys are popular and they milk their money the most they should be first.

he speaks the truth...if sanjay dutt is guilty of a crime and has already been proven of it..supporting his release shows disregard for the law..and support for criminals..he may not have committed the crime yesterday but just as our sins count from when we are young to when we die..there isnt a expiry date on the law

He must go to prison just like any other citizen.

Totally agree, more respect and movies for this man. Hindi cinema is the moral compass of India. You can see how with its degradation India too is sliding fast. He spoke from a common man's perspective and not a star or actors. So much more needs to be said when it comes to the delusion that the star system has created for the common man. They are paid actors not Gods!

He's absolutely right... those celebs who have been found guilty in a court of law should not be able to use their money to delay their inevitable imprisonment. You do the crime, you serve the time just like anyone else. Stop running and take it like a MAN.

I have totally boycotted a couple of brands because of their inhumane practices so it's completely doable. Sanjay Dutt is also a brand and it is prerogative of the people to do whatever they want with it. I'm sure plenty of people esp. those affected directly by his actions will never want to see his face ever again. Would you?

The man has also been tried in the court of law. How much proof do people need to believe his actions were criminal? And why should he not be punished? If that's the case then lets free all these random war criminals who look so old and frail just because they look so old and frail. Sanjay Dutt sounds like a nice dude. Let's let him go. Great logic.

Everyone has to go through the KARMA.Nana statements is his view of seeing the situation. It does not alter anything.Everyone makes some mistake and they should be given a chance to reform. If one keeps saying that he wont touch, talk, act then they are opening up their karmas .Life teaches everyone so just let go and move on.By making bold statements the punishment doesnt become small or big nor the person gets worst or better. It's his Karma and it has to be death with.Period.
