Aishwarya Rai & Shahrukh Khan - Friendship turned sour
Do you guys remember the interview from February this year where Aishwarya said the following? Vishal (Bhardwaj) came to me with two scripts. I liked one but he wanted to make the other first, which I wasn’t very keen on. That’s when I backed out. Please tell me which actor in their right mind would say no to THE Vishal Bhardwaj? Even his flops are milestones in actors' careers. So I was puzzled with what made her back out from both the films just because she wasn't keen on one film. Then I came to know that the film he was making first was based on a book called Two States written by Chetan Bhagat. The story revolves around how two people, one from Delhi and one from Tamil Nadu, meet and fall in love. Aishwarya could've been the best choice considering she herself is a South Indian and speaks Tamil fluently. It still didn't strike me as to why she would turn down an author-backed role in a Vishal Bhardwaj film. Then came the announcement that the lead actor of the film would be Shah Rukh Khan. Then it struck me why Ash turned down the film and suddenly it made a lot of sense. I think the fact that Shahrukh threw her away from Chalte Chalte and four other films without any explanation hurt her a lot. That move of his would have ruined any other actress' career. But Aishwarya survived it and came back strongly. Please watch this excellent short snippet from her interview with Simi Garewal where she speaks about it. And this was before Shahrukh apologized to Aishwarya for what he did that day. Shahrukh did apologize to her, but the apology came 6-7 years after the damage had been done. What surprises me (not) is that it came within months after Shahrukh had a spat with Salman. (If you remember, Salman caused ruckus on Chalte Chalte's sets, crashed Ash's car and made it impossible for the shoot to take place. That's when SRK took Salman's side and kicked Ash out of the film without any explanation, and Rani ditched Ash's friendship and took up the same project and rubbed salt on Ash's wound). So, since SRK was not on friendly terms with Salman anymore, he switched sides and apologized to Ash. Today, she is civil with Shahrukh in public events and other parties, but I think that is the dutiful Bachchan Bahu that is playing her part well, not the Ash we know. Abhishek is friends with SRK and I guess she doesn't want to spoil anything between them, hence she doesn't think much about attending his parties. But one thing that is crystal clear is that she is in no mood to act with him ever again. It is kind of sad because Aishwarya and Shahrukh had amazing chemistry whether as a brother and sister or lovers or an item song couple. Also, a 100% hit history with films like - Devdas, Mohabbatein and Josh. Or even the superhit item song Ishq Kameena.

5 films/projects Srk had ash dropped - chalte chalte, Ashoka, veer zara, stage show, mangal pandey
Ash is very smart in the way she talks. Cos Vishal did not offer her both films he had just spoken to her about both which happens in bollywood all the time. He must have just said, I have 2 scripts, i think u suit 'Project A' but I want to make 'Project B' first (obviously with someone else). Ash being Ash, knows very will how to twist and turn things to her advantage and grab credit for everything. she will just say "yeah i am not too keen on 'Proj B' anyways" to enable her to make statements like the above later on. She says "That’s when I backed out" - it means the project offered to me was not good, the other one was good...thats why I backed out.
In any case she has NO AWKAAD to refuse SRK. I can't understand why Ash fans lap up ALL THE LIES she feeds them. BY NOW ITS VERY CLEAR ASHWARYA IS THE BIGGEST LIER BOLLYWOOD HAS EVER PRODUCED. Post it Pinkvilla if u are fair.

Nobody can deny that Aish is very hardworking ,very beautiful but not so talented as an actress. People still like to watch her and read about her.
i'm sorry to say this i think ash is a total loser she is not talented at all as an arabic women watching indian movie i think rani is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than her she just depends on her beauty and she goes around mentioning old stories so pathetic to get people's sympathy
as for salman he is pathetic tooooooooooo he is soooooooooooo jealous of sharukh fame we just adore sharukh outside india we are his biggest fan and we think he is the king.salman was good at some level in the past but his career is ended ended ended ready is a total lost in arabic countries and outside as well only its working in india

The games these people play with each other. Salman was a madly jealous lover. His behavior at the sets was inappropriate but why should Ash take the blame for that ? She was ruthlessly kicked out of the movies by SRK on his whim. This is a position of the bollywoods most beautiful actress then what must be happening to the lesser known? Aishwarya was severly traumatized after this incidence and who comes to help her ? The shining knight who wanted to be Aishwaryas boyfriend at any cost...so he steps in to help Aish. Aish needed some friends this time not lovers. What he does was to give press conference against Salman Khan hoping he will gain Aishwaryas love. That boomeranged on him. Now he is talking to everyone saying how plastic is Aish...etc and trying to patch up with Salman Khan about him he said so much bad in press.
To be honest, I feel that people like Salman may be misbehaving but not as cunning as Shah Rukh Khan and Vivek Oberoi.SRK is an egoistic guy who keeps on reasserting that he is the King,Vivek is the bin pende ka lota, Salman Khan is the bad boy of bollywood. This leaves Bacchans who I consider the most decent people in Bollywood.I am glad for Aishwarya.

^^Please tell how did she 'use' Vivek? If you say she encouraged him to give that press conference, you're wrong because on Farah's show Vivek himself said he was called immature by her for calling that press conference. Because Ash knew it would kill his career and she was right in calling him immature because it did kill his career eventually.
@ 6-15.3:03... Looked after him in what way? I have SRK's biography written by Anupama Chopra and this has not been mentioned at all...
The post below...was GREAT!!!!!! That's exactly my point. Every1 always tries to be like 'Poor Aish' but she's no better either. She dropped Vivek like a hot potato and never stayed by him esp considering he stood up for her. His career was over because of what he did for her!!! There's a reason why people never stood up to Salman...it's because he will end up ruining their career. That's why SRK's safer option was to drop Ash instead of dealing with Salman. Ash is no better...she just wants people so sympathize with her all the time.
ash was dropped because of the ruckus salman created on the sets. she didn't call him there. he invited himself there after he overheard on the phone where she was. he had the habit of doing that frequently and he would also accuse ash of having affairs with her co-stars etc. as a business decision srk dropped ash from chalte chalte and perhaps because of salman's accusations and what not he didn't want her around his other films either. ash did not create trouble herself nor was salman's behavior under her control. hence the unfairness of the decision. but she was the reason why salman was coming on the sets so in order to stop the damage srk had to take such a decision. it was ruthless, taken from a business point of view. what is interesting is that how come no one tried to stop salman? how come no one supported a woman who was being harassed? how come srk did not even try to negotiate with ash? actors come late on sets, fall sick do all kinds of unprofessional things. but they don't just get kicked out. here ash got kicked out for someone else's behavior! that too out of not one, not two....but FOUR films! how is that fair? of course she has every right to be angry. it is remarkable that she survived anyway. it was not her fault!
that said, ash herself is ruthless and selfish. she totally used vivek oberoi and then dumped him when the industry turned against him and ingratiated herself with the bachchans.

Who to cast is solely the prerogative of the producer and director. if her personal life was unstable and there were high risk of shooting delay, who would cast her. Only who thinks she worth the risk. And SRK didn't think so.
She is free to whine about it but it's unfair to blame on SRK. He just took his prerogative as a producer. She was not good enough to take risk for him. She was the loser, blaming him made her even more so
Shah Rukh is almost insanely loyal person. When he came to Mumbaii, Salman's family looked after him. So he feels obligation. Like every time Madz comes back to India, he rushes to greet her. He does so because he thinks he owes her some of his success.
So, it's natural for him to choose Salman over Aishwariya when they had trouble. Eventhough how Salman break in to the set beats up the girl. SRK had to kick Aishwalia out instead of stopping Salman and lmake him l
eave. Now, he has spat with him so it's OK for him to reunite with Aishwariya.
@RoopKiRani, You just didn't get the point. She would KNOW (the reason) and UNDERSTAND if she was dropped from a Salman film, because obviously they both had issues. SRK was her friend. She was dropped from 5 of SRK's films (she had even shot for Chalte Chalte for a few weeks), so how could she answer the question WHY? Also, how are you so sure they "spoke over the phone"?

I just watched the interview with Simi Garawel where Ash discussed how she was dropped out of those movies. I am sure she was upset and she KNEW why she was dropped. So, her pretending to act like "Oh, I don't like to ask WHY?" Okay, if you already knew the answer, why would you ask. I'll be surprised if she never spoke to SRK after he had a hand in kicking her out of those movies, I'm sure they spoke over the phone and probably ended on a bad note and then she didn't try to reason afterwards because it was obviously wrong of SRK to do what he did. She always acts like the innocent angel and how she rose above it. She never addressed why SRK made the effort to take her out of those movies, she's acting like it just happened out of no where. Something similar happened on the sets of Kuch Naa Kaho as well. I'm sure it was hard on her but she should really be less fake and talk properly, she likes to get to the point by beating around the bush. Oh and the only reason she began to sign movies in Hollywood is because she didn't have much movies to sign in Hollywood. I don't know why people always thought it was cool of Aishwarya to sign movies in Hollywood, this only happens when people get less work in Bollywood and they have no option but to sign movies outside *cough* like Malaika Sherawat. This is one of the main reasons, I don't like Ash. She always pretends to be the innocent one out of a fight. You know what they say 'Taali ek haath se nahi bajti'

Wow this lady looks sooo gorgoeus in that interview! This was the real ashwariya rai, what she's known for, her charisma and charm... Sadly its died down heaps after her marriage... I think it would be a fair thing to say that marriage is changing her life in not the best way.. We now see the "not the best side of ash" But this interview she is divine beauty!

Really strange, because out of all the heroines, she is the only one who hasn't sucked up to SRK, or any of the Khans. If you see interviews even before the cc incident, all heriones,-juhi, rani, preeti, kareena would be giving statements that srk is so nice, very friendly, how he is the best co-star, and so on and on. Only I haven't seen any earlier interview of Ash where she is praising SRK. Even now, Anuskha, vidya, asin,katrina, priyanka everyone goes gaga over him. She is the only one who refused to perform with SRK in filmfare functions.
Also strange that gauri was insecure of ash when there wasn't anything brewing between her and SRK, but she isn't insecure of priyanka who is like a shadow to SRK nowadays

I also watched that episode hosted by Farah Khan. And although vivek did say " those days I was working on somebody's "Rai", " , he also said he never got appreciation for what he did, and was called immature by Aish for what he had done. Also he says that it was a overnight decision, he was getting abusive calls from Salman for past few days, and he thought that enough is enough, and made that decision in haste. He himself admitted that whatever he did was wrong, and should have consulted his Dad who was out of town that day.
So, it clearly evident, that whatever he did, he did for Ash, but she never supported it. He was actually immature. Aish was facing the same threatening calls , bullying , and torture to her family even for a longer time than Vivek. She never spoke to the press , instead her family filed a FIR against Salman , and she deployed Bodyguards later on.
If suppose anyone is actually bullying you, what would you do? Register a case against him in police, and seek protection ? OR, Will you go to the press and tell them that XYZ is bullying me, so that they can add mirch masala to the news and make it a headline? Only political parties do that kind of stuff to their opponents. Any sensible person would not spill out his personal matters in the public. Although whatever happened to was unfortunate, but he was stupid enough to do it in first place

Call Gauri insecure but aishwarya is beautiful and wanted to associate herself with a superstar to get to top and any man would fall for her.. The decision to sack aishwarya came from the makers of the 4or 5 movies since they didnt want to loose shahrukh.. this is other way to look at the story.. anyone who thinks this is biased i say the above post is biased too..
this is true and not many people know this that ash was more that a friend to SRK and thats why he went around insisting producers to sign her with him in every film..veer zara,ashoka and it also made salman insecure just like gauri...the media didnt pay much attention to this and wrote more about rani/ash and salman/ash story...and the real deal was ignored that made salman furious and insisted SRK to kick her out of the movie.
@Take the example of Amitabh/Srk/Aamir/Rani..they dont need tailor made role to showcase their talent. Even the most pathetic films have seen stellar performances from these
Really? Have you seen their pathetic movies? The list is long, and performances are laughable- Rani- Badal, Hello Brother,Bichoo, Had Kar dei aapne,Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat, Mehndi,Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Pyaar Dewaana Hota Hai. Before she got started getting tailor made roles from Yashraj camp in 2003-04 , all she was doing was gyrating with Govinda, and showing her thunder thighs.
Aamir had done performances which he himself would be embarrassed of,-love love love, awwal number, tum mere ho,parampara, baazi,aatank hi aatank, mela, jawani zindabad, holi and Amitabh- Suryavansham, Lal badshaah, mritudata, major sahab, hindustan kji kasam, indrajeet, ajooba, khuda gawah.
Every actor/actress needs tailor made roles to bring out the best performance from them. Ash on the other hand (apart form movies like Albela and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin), has pretty decent performances in most of her films, and outstanding performances in others
