Mumbai, August 22, 2012: India’s favourite lifestyle channel TLC will present the India edition of the international makeover series – WHAT NOT TO WEAR. Drawing on the talent of actor Soha Ali Khan and acclaimed stylist Aki Narula, WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA inspires style challenged participants to trade in the drab for fab. A 13-part series, WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA will air every night at 10 pm starting September 3rd on TLC.

From housewives who have put their life on hold, to fast track professionals going nowhere with their wardrobes, to entrepreneurs who risk big, except when it comes to their wardrobe; WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA will help empower women by giving them a unique identity while keeping active their distinct lifestyles. Nominated by their friends and family, each episode becomes a personal journey of women reinventing themselves with new found vigour, as they bid adieu to clothing items from their wardrobe they never should have worn in the first place.

Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager - South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said, “TLC has been the front runner in bringing the world’s best experiences to Indian television. Pushing the boundaries of differentiated and inspiring television entertainment, we are delighted to present another pertinent and refreshing India centric series – WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA. Hosted by amazing personalities and experts Soha Ali Khan and Aki Narula, the series would activate a new wave of style change and become the new benchmark in lifestyle programming.”

Commenting on her television debut, Soha Ali Khan said, “I am excited to be part of TLC; one of my favourite channels. WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA is an extremely interesting makeover series that beautifully captures the emotional, psychological and physical journeys of women to style enlightenment. We hope that viewers enjoy the show as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Hosting his first television series for an international channel, Aki Narula said, “TLC’s WHAT NOT TO WEAR – INDIA was the best and most creative platform for me to say YES to play host, guide and mentor. It’s a thoroughly researched, interactive and insightful series, where I could aptly put all my years of experience of fashion and style to great practical use for the participants and the viewers.”

Watch Soha and Aki change the way participants’ look and feel about themselves. Participants need to work on their wardrobe and self-examine before a 360 degree mirror. Style experts Soha and Aki do not sugar coat their comments when participants forget the 'rules' of shopping and style appropriate dressing. They advocate tough love on what is worn and what is gone. All of which adds up to the unveiling of the restyled woman to friends, family and colleagues who nominated them.

Watch the tears of realisation and joys of fulfillment as they turn from dowdy to dashing in WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA every night at 10 pm starting September 3rd only on TLC. WHAT NOT TO WEAR-INDIA is based on the original format devised by BBC and produced by BBC Worldwide.

Hi

I want to participate in the show What Not To Wear
How do I go about this?

Anonymous's picture

Soha is so conscious of her legs that she always bends them at the knees. Looks funny.

Anonymous's picture

i want to be the part of this show.... plz tell me how to go for it...

Anonymous's picture

I am a house-wife and extremely interested in being a part of the show "What not to wear - India."

How do I go about it?

Anonymous's picture

in all honesty, she needs to be one of the contestants...!!!!

Anonymous's picture

they shouldve had Neha Dhupia, Or just have random actresses guess star, its not like most of them dress themselves, majority have stylists..and its either a hit or a miss......given the day or event

I dunno about this show, ...Id rather see another form of empowering women in India, then putting them in cocktail dresses and are other clothing that 90% of INDIA does not wear.

soha..give me a break!! atleast it shud have been neha or dia if not sonam!

One thing I don't understand is that why in every tv or otherwise show need an actor to make it watchable? None of the actresses are dressed by themselves. They have stylists. So why not cast a professional stylists for a professional opinion if you are making a professional show??? India it is time to grow up and stop believing that the Sun does shine from the backside of Bollywood actors/ actresses!

I am surprised to see Soha as well, one does not naturally associate her with the tag 'best dressed'. I would have loved to see Neha Dhupia do this show. Sonam and Kangana are sometimes immature in their statements, but Neha seems like a mature person who can give interesting opinions who also happen to have great style.

soha is a bad choice..she is the last person i would ask fashion advice to

FLOP show

Anonymous's picture

Is there really a market for off-shoulder dresses in middle-class india ? umm, from what i remember the streets are full of pervy men harassing you ... plus the sidewalks are full of potholes even in posh localities , no way can any woman wear those heels outdoors in India.

So i don't see how this show is going to work, tbh .

Anonymous's picture

First she should fix up her own hairstyle. And then be a fashion advisor..since ages she sports same 60's inspired hair style...this show is already a flop before it starts

Voiceswriter's picture

Again I ask, where are Sonam and Imran?

Anonymous's picture

i'd get it if they had sonam in this show..but soha? really?

Anonymous's picture

it should have been a renowned clothes stylist rather than an actress

Anonymous's picture

Goshhh her hair is so thick and beautiful mashallah !!
love her dress in the 2nd pic .. i prefer to see her in Indian outfit

Voiceswriter's picture

Where is Sonam Kapoor? Imran Khan where are you???? This show has your names on it.

Anonymous's picture

Aki should be in movies. He is giving some good expressions :)
Ms. Soha doesn't look like she fits here and no doubt will benefit.

Anonymous's picture

For me Dia Mirza has great fashion sesne

Aah no, it is the Indian version of What Not To Wear.

I loved the original Brit version with Trinny and Susannah but based on the hosts of this show I don't think they will be recreating Trinny and Susannah's success in the Indian version. The show is about dressing for your body type and dressing for your personality but based on what Aki Narula is wearing I'm afraid the show will be more about following trends or whatever they think the trends are. Trinny and Susannah understood body types and understood the importance of individuality in fashion, I don't think the hosts here do.

And I like my TLC the way it is. The American TLC is so trashy and it used to be a good channel. It all started with these semi-reality shows and BAM the trailer trash reality show junk took over. I hope they preserve this version of TLC.

soha?

It should have been Sonam, Kangana or even Bipasha instead of Soha! I guess they can't afford biggies!

Anonymous's picture

I wish it was Sonam instead of Soha! :(

will be interesting to watch what they do with the theme. Either it will be super hit or a flop there are no 2 ways about it. Indian females many of them don't dress well either are too busy to do, just don't care or try too hard. Nothing typical of being an Indian but I haven't seen other countries so only talking about India. I have seen girls putting on junior sizes to look cool and end up being the butt of jokes. Clothing has to be as per what heart desires and heart has to desire right ! haha

Anonymous's picture

they should teach sonali first.
but nice to know that will get to see her more.

How fun!!!!!!!!!!!! can't wait.
