Aishwarya refuses Bhansali's movie; Sonam fills in
Sort of bad news for Aishwarya fans. Looks like she doesn't want to focus on anything else other than her daughter at the moment. Oh well..!! As long as she is happy. That is all that matters. Her films may have been classified as non-performing assets by the filmi duniya, but Sonam Kapoor is still considered a hot-and-happening star. Even before the ghost of Players is laid to rest at the box office, Sonam’s already — as is her wont — moved on to her next big project. This time, it’s her mentor Sanjay Leela Bhansali who’s signed her on. But Sonam — who Sanjay launched in Saawariya — wasn’t the auteur’s first choice. She wasn’t even his second. It seems Sanjay had desperately wanted his muse, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to star in his directorial project. But Ash backed out of the film. Then there was talk that Sanjay had approached Preity Zinta for the same project, but with one thing and another, the bubbly actress couldn’t be finalised either. That was when Sanjay settled on Sonam. “Sanjay sees a lot of potential in Sonam. All she needs is the right script and a good director,” a source revealed. Sonam too confirmed, “I am doing Sanjay’s film.” The project is a crucial one for Sanjay, as he needs to get over Saawariya and Guzaarish. So will this be their lucky chance?

@BOLLYWOOD: I have followed recent comments of yours on Ash posts and your venomous posts were filled with pessimissim. Chokher Bali, Jeans and Bride and Prejudice are certified hits. Provoked did better business than Tabu's Namesake and yes, Mistress of Spices and Umrao Jaan didn't run. Also, I would like to add Taal. Akshaye Khanna was no star and Anil Kapoor was on the wane and the film was centered around Ash and it was still a success.

aishwarya is a gifted actress, dancer and beauty and has prooved how important her contribution has been to hddcs, devdas and guzaarish. Nandini, paro and sofia are all iconic characters. if the role was meant to be for aishwarya it would have been another challenging role. But frankly sonam cant act to save her life. her dialogue delivery sucks. her expressions are always frozen. Imagine if she cant do simple roles like thank you, delhi 6, aisha well, she can never do a challenging role convincingly.

All those films she turns down become hits? Mangal Pandey, Baabul, Game, Saat Khoon Maaf etc didn't become hits. And u must be living in denial if u think she cant act. How did she manage to get appreciated from critics as well as audiences as well as sweeping all the awards for HDDCS within first 2 years of her career that too w/o any acting training? She naturally has a spark and knows her craft well which u refuse to acknowledge. And she has done so much variety and proved her versatility as an actress - ranging from period movies to action to drama to romance to comedy to real life stories! Sure she did some not so great films but tell me one actor who only does good films without any bad ones? NONE. But the fact that u dont want to acknowledge explains how biased you are and hence people perceive u as a hater, which could be very well true.

we have already seen and experienced over the years ...without a male star alongside aishwarya alone is nothing ...she is clever ...never accepts the role as long as its not aishwarya-centered ...
aishwarya takes the roles in movies only when there s a star to carry the movie to top then aishwarya is there to suck all the fame and take all the share....by the way if aishwarya can act ,who is only a pretty face, who is just a beauty pageant winner then anyone else can do any role...she is not that talented thats why she always failed abroad other than few PR arranged awards and being ambassador which doesnt require any acting talent
i dont know why people gets so subjective when the topic is aishwarya ...for example im pretty sure while you looking the photos above you see that " oh how beautiful is aishwarya .naturally fair "and about sonam " she is dark..." whereas the both ladies are brown whereas the both are whitened indian society embraces aishwarya and sidelines others because aishwarya is the reflection of indian society:whitened brown face the dream of each and eevry indian girl:whitened dark complexion thats why everyone obsessed about her because aishwarya the reflection of yourr dreams making it true and also she represents the fair side of india globally however she is not that light with her real skin tone...like it is said below...yes...aishwarya you are miss world and dont get afraid brown ladies can also be beautiful,most beautiful stop bleaching your dark complexion and embrace your true colour...

no, not again!! under good direction, sonam can at best pull of an ok performance - she doesn't have raw acting talent. the only good thing about sawaariya was ranbir's performance which rightly so was rewarded.i'd have loved preity doing this film though!

Endhiran was a blockbuster due to Rajini's cult status in the south not because of this over hyped Ash Bachchan. All of Rajini's movies are blockbusters no matter who the leading lady is. Endhiran was Rajin's movie it would of become a blockbuster even without her. All her movies are terrible flops.
Aishwarya will always get great roles in good movies and she will continue to rock. But just not this year. This year is for her baby.

Well sanjay is one of Ash's fav directors. She won't turn him down just like that. May be its because she wants to focus on her daughter at the moment, so she would've asked him to wait or go ahead with another actress. May be SLB is really waiting for Ash and has signed on Sonam for another project. Because I frankly cannot see how a non-actress like Sonam can perform the challenging roles that Ash usually takes up.
So Sonam will do Aunty Jee roles now??

Are you kidding me? No other actress could have done HDDCS, Devdas or Guzaarish better than Aishwarya. She got Best actress awards for ALL of these films. Priyanka, Anushka are mediocre actresses. Vidya is good but not anything great either.
SLB's actress has to be amazingly beautiful, be an outstanding performer and dance like a dream...Ash fits the bill perfectly.

It doesn't matter if the film is the biggest thing ever.. and everyone runs after it. let them. Aish is the top superstar... these are just crumbs for her. what she needs and wants is privacy for a while now. She never lets her fans down.. but all in good time.
reading some hateful comments on Aish, Aish did 100% the right thing in keeping away from the limelight and keeping Beti B away too. Beti B is just an innocent little sweet kid.. but imagine if they did release photos of her. it would be a RIOT.. a mad RIOT. they would say things like she wore contacts, pancaked herself up.. compare her to an average South Indian random baby, et all. You know how mad things get on blog-world.. would they have spared the little kid??!!!
So yes, hats off to Aish for saying no to a film the rest of the world would hunger for. good for you!
