College Girls In Bihar Seek Inspiration From Sridevi's English Woes In 'English Vinglish'
Critics lauded Sridevi for her realistic and accurate portrayal of a Maharashtrian housewife's struggle to master the English language in English Vinglish. Sridevi's performance has touched with many college going Dalit girls in Bihar who are facing the same problem in mastering English.
Girls in Patna and neighbouring towns are watching the film to get entertained and to learn how to improve their spoken English. According to a leading exhibitor in Patna, young girls who watched the movie often left determined to devote time and efforts to improve their command over English.
Producer R Balki is, understandably, ecstatic. He told TOI, "That our film has influenced a section of the audience to improve its language is awesome. English Vinglish is not just about learning English. It's about the determination that the lack of a familiarity will not stop people's aspirations and dreams from growing."
Sridevi too expressed happiness at the impact of her performance on the impressionable young girls in Bihar.
