Shahrukh Khan Fired as Brand Ambassador for PepsiCoDesi Hits!

Sorry Shahrukh Khan, you're getting old. Well at least according to PepsiCo. Pepsi which has long used the Bollywood superstar has now dropped him, in favor of a younger look. Pepsi has undergone some changes recently, aiming more for a younger audience. Pepsi has changed their famous logo and is pushing their "Youngistaan" ads.

The Coca-Cola Company has come to the aging stars aid and has picked him up to endorse their Sprite brand. Currently the company has three of Bollywoods biggest stars. Akshay Kumar endorses Thumbs Up, Aamir Khan endorses Coca-Cola, and now Shahrukh will be sporting Sprite. The commercial due out soon will feature Shahrukh Khan hanging out with some of the members of the "Kolkata Knight Riders" cricket team, the commercial will be seen during IPL matches.

In the past, The Coca-Cola Company had made fun of Pepsi ads that featured Shahrukh Khan so it could be seen as a bit strange for the golden boy of Bollywood to be switching sides. Shahrukh isn't the first star to be snubbed by Pepsi. Rani Mukherji and Sachin Tendulkar have also been kicked out by the brand. Pepsi has instead offered contracts to Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor.

Other brands are following in Pepsi's footsteps. Shampoo company Pantene has dropped Sushmita Sen for Katrina Kaiff. Katrina has also taken Aishwarya Rai Bachan's endorsement deal for Nakshatra Diamonds. Marketing specialist however say that youth might not be all that's involved. Stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan can be expensive to endorse. Going after younger celebrities can be cheaper and if they make it big, the brand can take credit for discovering them.

Old is gold,
Its Pepsi's lost
this man has a fan population of 3.4 billion..which were all the Pepsi customers. Good luck with Deepika and Ranbir, who bearly have any fan population. :)

Lol I'm confused! What's so funny about it in the first place? It's obviously the truth! By the way, I love SRK to death so I'm not bashing him or anything and why blame bollywood lover? They just posted the article, not write it. Thanks bollywood!

Obviously the contract is fake. It is meant to be. LOL! But I don't think anyone should be fired according to age. I do agree with pepsi just because their theme is youngistan and Shahrukh is a little to old to be in that category. Maybe they did make a good choice. Btw, they also said Shahrukh and Aishwarya charge a lot of money. The age is just an excuse the real reason is their cost. LOL!

it'sa joke!!!!!

SRK-4ever's picture

The picture of Shahrukh is sooo nice..
And pepsi don't know the big loss they are about to make cuz now the Sprite rules!
And bollywood lover or whatever i don't find this post funny at all....
And i don't think anybody exept those who are jealous on Shahrukh will actually watch this add and say that they found it funny!!

Anonymous's picture

why can't actors accept everyone ages?

Anonymous's picture

It happens- one cannot stick at one place everywhere. It's called continuity. When SRK was young, he replaced others and when he is old now, it's normal for younger generation to take over.

Pepsi can never dream of matching Sprite sales..ever!

The joke is on Pepsico!HA!

Now the entire Bangladesh would drink to Sprite every time KKR plays.Their cricketer hero Murtaza in the team is going to see to it!

lolz, the cotract in the pic is sooooo fake. its a generic form with pepsi and evrything else handwritten, plus even if thats the reason, they would never be caught dead writing it on paper this way, they would diplomatically say we' r going in a different direction or some other crap. i could bet it was money issue and coke was paying shahrukh more so he switched sides.
was'nt he in one of the youngistan ads with ranbir and deepika? i found the ad funny.
