@charlene - if you were born or grew up aboard most of the time, you would most likely have that accent than the English accent many Srilankans or Indians speak, I have cousins in India and Srilanka both their english is totally different compared to mines where I am in America and my other cousins in France and UK!
It all depends where they did their schooling, In India or Srilanka if you went to a good English school you would most likely have some other western accent with it!!!
Im a sri lankan too we are proud of her We do have american/British accent If kids were brought up in another country obviously they get that accent But we dont have a strong, thick accent like indians. I think our English is much clearer and easy to understand (no sarcasm) She is 1/2 indian but she considers herself as a sri lankan although she lived in Dubai
to the ppl going on and on abt her beng sri lankan shes only like a 1/4 sri lankan. shes mixed with arab and malaysian. and to add to that why si she even in bollywood? she has no indian blood. kat has more of a right to be thr than her.

Many srilankans who live in Sri Lanka have their own a distinct accent. However, it's more in to british accent. Sri Lankans who were brought up in North america usually have the American accent.

well I'm a sri lankan ...we kinda do have a different accent than indians....it differs some have british accent some have american and some have like the normal sri lankan accent....its less thicker than the indian accent
