Acclaimed director Yash Chopra was to continue his love affair with the Swiss Alps by shooting a song at the location for his last directorial venture, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. His illness led to the shoot being postponed. Now, insiders say that the song shall be scrapped altogether after his untimely demise due to a multi-organ failure.
Mumbai Mirror reports that the film will be released without even a single frame being altered. Son Aditya Chopra had been helping his father in the film's shooting and had overseen the romantic scenes in the movie. He was to accompany his father abroad for the Swiss song as well. However, the team, Aditya included, now feel that it would be inappropriate to proceed with the Director's final cut not being possible anymore.
Apart from the fact that such alterations will amount to tampering with the late director's vision, paucity of time is an issue. Those on the inside say that the film's marketing profile will now change considering it is the final effort of a Bollywood legend.

maybe they should postpone the release, take some time to grieve properly, then add the necessary finishing touches to make it the best it can be, and give the film a grand release as it deserves. i'm sure everyone would understand and prefer that to a unfinished rush job.

I totaly agree with you!!

I totaly agree with you!!
as a tribute to mr. yash chopra I thinkn they can shoot and add the song to the film...
I completly understand and respect adi, if he chooses to not shoot the song, but it doesn't prevent me from wishing that he would do it. And by wishing, I mean wishing really badly. I hope and pray that he'll do it. InshaAllah
@bebo_pclover20: the songs of DDLJ and Mohabbatein were very much in the Yash Chopra style. If you didn't know they were directed by Aditya, then you would have thought it was Yashji himself. So I see no problem in Aditya shooting the song, as he has strong elements of his father's style in his direction. Besides, it was his idea to shoot with multi-cams...he had set it all up for his dad...so I think he knows very well how the song was to be shot. Also, he was fully involved in Veer Zaara too. Many believe that he ghost directed it...or at least had a big input...so I think he is more than capable of shooting a simple song, especially as their styles are so similar.
thanks, i meant the music in the trailer. its kind of grand, dramatic and sad. i heard challa, but it sounds a bit different.
I am really appalled at people's comments about how they disappointed with the song not being shot, comments on how they've been let down with the song not being shot, Aditya should shoot it...blah blah blah.
Only two individuals who came as "Anonymous" had the sincerity, maturity, and sensitivity to understand that they just had a death in the family and lost a parent. How can you just come out of the mood of mourning, and go on a shoot and shoot a song. For all you guys' entertainment, it is easy to say that it can be made as tribute to Yashji or promotional.
But, think of the situation from the family's POV...they have emotions too right that you just can't come out of!
I understand people's excitement for the movie, love for Yashji's movies and SRK. But, you should also, have the sensitivity to understand things as least for the sake of human emotions and values instead of everything about yourselves all the time and how you think others should behave according to you.
When you lose a parent or loved one, you can't just come out of the mood quickly......at least everyone reacts to it differently and mourns differently. I hope you know what I am trying to say.
@Tue, 2012-10-23 16:51 — Anonymous It's from the song Challa - you'll find it in the Jab Tak Hai Jaan album.
i don't get the logic of not shooting the song. would yash chopra want his film left unfinished, without a song in his fav location???
The film has all the ingredients to draw the audience to the theater.. song or no song won't make any difference...the film shoot is completed... even if aditya chopra agrees to shoot the song SRK and he might end up adding the special note or song in his fond memory before the film starts or maybe after the film ends....i don't think aditya will go and shoot the song in switzerland...some people commenting ridiculously here...its not a celebration time for family please people relax...
adi semi-directed the film anyways, (says so in the article) so no biggie if he shoots one last song.
hey anon who r u to tell ppl to leave the family alone? they are a film family and their biz is to make movies. it's their bread n butter. their father just died, it's a sad time for time n it's gonna take a while for them to return to normal. but that doesn't mean they should abandon the last film made by their father, as it was very close to his heart and he work very hard to make it even at this age. at the end of the day everyone is eager to see the movie n they will spend their hard earned money to watch it, so they have a right to have a say, since it's the title track of the movie. so just shut up, as u don't feed the family, it's the public who they earn from.
I think if Adi directed it, it just wouldn't have the same feel of a Yash Chopra song - if Yash ji wanted it to be shot, then, Adi should go ahead with the shooting just to honour his dad's wish. If it does happen,it should be released during the end credits.
shahrukh khan on twitter said that media people fly alot with their imaginations when he was asked about that, I think this may be denial to this news.
that's really sad..both, because Yah ji didn't get to shoot this song, and because everyone was looking forward to it...
Plz shoot dis song For YASH JI. Odience dont want to miss dis song, plz
I cant beleive how people want aditya to do that song !!! how can u be soo insensitive !! all you guys are thinking about is your own entertainment !! They lost their dad - to hell with the song!! Why cant u leave them alone and let them decide whatever is best for them as a family -------- and how can u guys say it was yashji's last wish ???? u people are sick and need to leave the chopra family alone !! Rest in peace yashji
you know in the trailer there is a guitar instrumental music when srk and kat are dancing...which song is it from please?? that's the only bit of music that i like in JTHJ.
I agree with whoever said that if they don't want to include it in the movie, then should definitely shoot it as a promotional video or to play at the end of the movie when the credits are rolling in. However at bollywood-lover stated, this piece of information may not even be true.
What? That's dissapointing! It would have been better if Aditya had taken his father's vision to the finish line in the way that he would have wanted.
The song will be missed, coz all these bollywood films have to offer is good music and choreography. Script-wise the films are always lacking.
NOOOO !! Adi shud do the song for his father, and i was seriously waiting for this special song,,, im disapointed now...
@ Bollywood-Lover
Aditya Chopra and SRK might do everything to honour his last wish.
================================================
i AGREE now they will put more effort & do everything to this last project of Yash Chopra!!

what's so classy about it? @voiceswriter. it's extremely disappointing. esp as it's the title track and most awaited. at least do it as a tribute to your dad, adi. he would be saddened if his last film was missing his signature swiss song.

They have to release the film as is, they can shoot the Swiss song but it will never be as Yash ji envisioned it which is why I said it's a classy decision not to shoot it in the first place.
adi was the technical director anyways, his dad just gave the instructions. so don't see why he can't do this much for his dad sake.
This news is actually not correct. This is what someone asked SRK on Twitter just today:
Question: "Sir just heard from news that JTHJ title won't be add in movie, it suppose to shoot on end of this month but now it's canceled!"
SRK's answer: "Most of these news people just want to send their views flying...without checking...like my tweet yesterday."
Which means, they haven't yet made a decision on whether to shoot it or cancel it. Also, it was Yash Chopra's last wish to film the last song of his last movie in Switzerland. Aditya Chopra and SRK might do everything to honour his last wish.
pinkvilla: why u no post our comments?? :(
Adi ghost directed jthj anyways so why cant he just shoot one last song ?
the thing bot JTHJ songs are...when you listen to them you'll find it not so awestricking as it should be given the duo of rahman saab and gulzar ji ..but then when you re listen to it after the visuals are out..you just love the album that definitely was yashraj effect.so clearly defining why the trio should be superduper hit!! :) this has made me wait in anticipation for release of each song and ofcourse the movie itself!!
it is too early... to say if they will film it or not. Guys, he just died recently...give them time to mourn and then decide later....
RIP Yash ji...
