Every woman is strong, is powerful, but there are some who set paradigms for the World to follow. One such inspiration is tennis sensation, Serena Williams. She has re-defined strength and beauty not only on the tennis court but off it too. Her humanity and generosity is what makes her stand out. In an interview with Allure, she openly spoke about how it is absolutely normal to have a post-pregnancy body and women should be proud of it.

Williams credits her mother for the person she has become today. She said, “I think my mom instilled in us to be confident women, to really believe in ourselves, be proud of our heritage, our hair, and our bodies. That was something that was really important for her to teach us. I’m definitely teaching it to my daughter.”

Serena went through an easy pregnancy but it was a near death experience when she had to undergo an emergency C-section surgery. She openly spoke about this to create awareness stating that black women in America have three times more the chance of dying due to birth-related causes.

Being the beautiful person that she is, Serena said that she absolutely loved her entire pregnancy journey and everything about it. She also spoke about how her body changed after the pregnancy. While many women would get conscious about how they looked, the tennis star thought she looked pretty cool. “After I came out [of the hospital], I had a stomach, but I thought, this is kind of cool. I have a stomach because the baby was there,” she said.

Serena wants to instill the real meaning on beauty in her daughter, Alexis Olympia. She further added, “When I tell her she’s beautiful, I want to teach her that she’s beautiful from the inside. Giving is beauty. Being kind and humble is the ultimate beauty.”

Serena definitely gives us #MomGoals and clearly that’s why she is such a super successful player as well as a human being.
