Deepika Padukone's ripped jeans - event appropriate or not?
Deepika Padukone attended a felicitation event for Olympics winners this morning wearing a ripped jeans, blazer and a white Tee. While Ms. Padukone looked good, a lot of you complained about how inappropriate her attire was. Given that she was felicitating the Olympics winners, a formal attire might have been better. Like a Pinkvilla user mentioned, the ripped jeans gives a 'I dont care' vibe. What are you thoughts on this?

I love ripped jeans....so me like it ;)
i guess its perfect, nthng wrong wid it.........
shes not
Everyone else including the athletes are dressed casualy..maybe it was not as formal a function as it sounds..what matters more is that she was there and she did not in any way try to take the limelight from the athletes..though i do feel its time Deepika lets go of this pair of jeans.
NOT
Yes but now with this what she waer on the top!:)
common guys take a chill pill what can you expect from a hi fi escort . she is just being herself.
no ways does it llok good.
she looks ok. nothing wrong with her jeans. she would have looked stupid in formal attire, when everyone else is dressed casually. its a sporting event.
I agree, the ripped jeans are a no-no, simple white pants would have looked great with the tee and the blazer. Her make up and hair are bang on though. I didn't expect this from her, thought she would know better!
I think she was trying to be sporty chic with the blazer but ripped jeans just don't work at any occasion. If she was wearing nice trousers I think the look would have worked.
the look goes with her father's out fit
n all the other ppl present in that event specilay winners were in very simple outfits so her choice is totaly ok
I definitely don't think it's appropriate but I don't think it's fair to say Deepika didn't care about the event because she interacted with the medal winning Olympians very well esp Mary Kom and as someone said she is a strong supporter of OGQ. If she had worn something more formal, it would have been perfect - if she had gone all out on a dress or gown, some people would have probably said she's trying to upstage the athletes so it's hard to find that balance (That's what stylists are for!). I hate ripped jeans a lot - very tacky!
Her look is way too similar to pc styling.
What madness is this..a post to decide if it's event appropriate.. Of course it is.. U freaks what does pants have to do with respect.. What does the attire has to do with respect it's something that comes from heart..there are thousands of worst women who wear shalwar for gods sake.. Be matured when u comment on something
Yes, lol Kitty, Deepika did repeat the jeans at the screening.
casual but not appropriate
Haha, good one Voiceswriter, completely agree. But then again didn't Deepika wear this to the sceening as well? Talk about embarassing if they wore the same thing to the same screening!
As for the question, NO, I don't think it's event appropriate. It's a felicitation event for the medalists, to congratulate them for their acheivements. Like someone below said, these people worked so hard to bring glory to the country, in fact they dedicated their whole lives to getting this medal. Ripped jeans gives a "whatever" vibe and she should have been more respectful, they are REAL heroes!
Soooo Not
She is with her Dad who looks really young....now if she wears anything formal she will just mature and older which would make her look awkward with her Dad..u know what I mean
On the contrary I think it's appropriate to wear a ripped jeans. It's a felicitation event for Olympics winners after all;they are sports people, most of them are wrestlers and boxers. The ripped jeans sort of represents toughness, comfort, rawness and a little bit of edge.
Deepika should have worn Sonam's outfit from the SHIRIN FARHAD KI NIKAL PADI screening and Sonam should have worn Deepika's ripped jeans to the screening instead.
Seriously.. who the F cares! She looks midblowing and pulls off that ripped jeans perfectly... and trust me when I say that.. not everyone can pull off that ripped jeans look... Seriously.. you need certain body type to pull it off. Her sole presence should be good enough.. plus, the event wasn't about her.. it was the olympians or whatever you call them. You should be thankful that she didn't come looking like as if she just got off from her bed.
Bad choice of outfit. If she was going to the movies with friends or hanging out at a friend's place or at home, fine. Not to a formal event and certainly not one Olympic related. C'mon Deepika, it's common sense.
They look really UGLY for any occasion.
~~~ same opinion ! hate them..
The fact that she is there matters, not what she is wearing -.-
Why wouldn't she be? It's her father's event isn't it? So maybe she could've taken a few pains to dress up. Oh no, she only does that for endorsements where she's paid crores to show up!
What's wrong with ripped jeans? Wtf. What has jeans got to do with respect? It is just a casual look. Everyone is dressed casually. She wasn'ta chief guest there, she is one of the founding members of OGQ along with her father. :/
Well for one, they're soooooo last season!
Completely UPSTAGED by the athletes....hehehe!!
NOT!!!!!! When u think you're too big for your boots, this is what happens. Sooooooo glad she was royally ignored till Geet Sethi mentioned that she was there too!!! RESPECT Mary Kom.....better than any Bollywood 'star' anyday!!!!
it is not appropiate...ripped jeans are very casual!!!! these are olympians who have trained all there lives in a 3rd world country and still have come out on top! at least dress appropriately for the event...ripped jeans are for casual days and hanging out with friends...would u ever walk into an interview with ripped jeans on? or go to a big movie premier with ripped jeans? would she have wore ripped jeans to meet Phelps? so you shouldn't wear ripped jeans to meet international olympians at a formal event.. celebs should be upheld to a standard...she is sooo in the wrong here!!
