Fashion police at the Deshmukh - Bhagnani wedding reception

Bollywood was in full attendance at Dheeraj Deshmukh and Honey Bhagnani's wedding reception. The ladies came out in their best wearing sarees, lehengas and suits. Here is a look at their appearances.

I have added new moms Lara and Aishwarya and soon to be Shilpa for completion. Which is your favorite look among the lot?

hmm lara dutta , kangana ranauat and jiya khan were the best dressed for me ..
amisha was horrible ..but still like her hehe ..

Anonymous's picture

Ash is the worst dress - I guess new monenot coming in, Abhi is useless, probably spent more than he makes, Sr B's money making schemes are failing, Amar singh doesn't bring big contracts for the family anymore, And cashing on her beauty days are long gone.
This is what happens when one is so manipulative. Bachans are so KANJOOS, they have raked multi crore, undeserved money, but dress like poor souls at others functions.

anakaralis subtract weight.. not add them. someone obviously does not know fashion. they are very flattering, it's how the person wears any outfit. sarees can look really bad, if worn with no confidence too.

Anonymous's picture

anaarkalis and kutras, etc at one time was a big no-no in big events....

Really???anyone can write anything here without any basis in fact..anytime I attend a wedding in India ( I grew up there) and in the past as well...Salwar suits were worn by the more trendier women. They were ubiquitous then and now.

Anonymous's picture

lenghas and sarees look the most flattering; esp in wedding;; if someone doens't want to wear a saree; then wear a lengha. anaarkalis and kutras, etc at one time was a big no-no in big events-- these other outfits are nearly impossible to look elegant in. but make sure the legngha and blouse fit, ok. it's easy to get it altered to your fit. hmmmm..one of them is wearing an oversized lengha and some ppl are wearing blouses that don't fit.. and or tube tops as blouses. lol. Genelia is dressed nice.

Anonymous's picture

a lot of these people giving grades on others are badly dressed themselves...

Anonymous's picture

Anarkali's don't do anything for a woman's figure no matter where they're worn. They have no shape, and are more tent-like. They actually add volume to a woman's frame, and can make someone who's actually not that large in real life look big. I think that's the case with Aish - she's gained weight during and after her pregnancy, no doubt. But I don't think she's that big. She just looks larger than she is because she's not wearing the right clothes.

Anonymous's picture

Sarees for weddings is only for aunties or married women...usually.

Anonymous's picture

Aish is pregnant again

Anonymous's picture

they're all nice.. stop the hate. fashion is fashion, but the real thing is the good thoughts they bring to the couple being married. so stop all this nonsense dissing; grade work on dresses. aren't there better things to do than dissing on someone's dress you don't like?????????????????????????????

Anonymous's picture

there are some designers which are awesome: Manish Malhotra is crowned the prince of Indian style on Huffington Post.. google it out , guys. Indian fashion is catching onto the West.

Anonymous's picture

"Rati Pandey's" saree is very nice (if she is Rati- 6th row left). but she draped it so badly! it makes the saree look odd. AND THAT IS NOT RATI PANDEY!!!!!!!!

Anonymous's picture

who started this silly trend of wearing anarkalis to weddings? why do people think they're flattering? seriously. kurta/pajamas??? what next, salwars? for a wedding???? seriously?

lengha/blouses and/or sarees are flattering. the rest of them look odd . and to those wearing sarees.. can they stop with the cocktail 'fancy blouses' and learn to drape it elegantly?

lol.. they all are trying to be item# actresses...

Anonymous's picture

Ameesha and Kangana need to remember , this is not an item song event..its' a wedding. it looks so un-classy. Kangana's dress is actually nice.. but why is she wearing business colors and dressed like a item person. below F-.

and to all the ppl wearings reds (or corals/oranges)-- what the heck!!!!!!!!!???? that is the rudest thing ever to do. what.. r u pretending it's your own wedding and trying to get attention. SO RUDE! below F- for plain outright rudeness.

why does the Bombay gliteratti dress so bad these days?

Anonymous's picture

ITS NOT RATI PANDEY GUYS SHE IS MANJARI PHADNIS

Anonymous's picture

they rely too much on stylists and have no clue for the fashion sense. even in a middle-class wedding, you'll get more decked up elegant looks.. than these celebs and rich crowds with all the $ and 0% clue on basic fashion 101.

@ anon: "What a stupid, baseless assumption to make! How do you know what goes on in their marriage? Maybe Shilpa and Lara care more about their bodies - gaining and keep weight i.e. being fat long after baby is born isn't exactly healthy. Exercising isn't just about losing weight and vanity - it gives you energy, lets you sleep better, and lowers your risk of things like high blood sugar, etc. Aishwarya isn't making effort, that's the point. And Shilpa and Lara's husbands love them too. Just because it didn't work out with their previous relationships doesn't mean they'll leave Lara/Shilpa - don't be stupid."

How do you know that Ash doesn't make any efforts to lose weight? Nobody knows exactly what is going on with her body, except for her, her family and maybe a few insiders. She may have hormonal problems or any postpartum complication, water retention; maybe her not so young age and body, or certain hereditary factors impedes her to lose weight more rapidly etc...who knows for sure? She's lost a visible amount of weight since her first public appearance, although not enough to appease her critics, I suppose. I only hope that her health is doing fine.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED SAREE THAT EVEN THE SIMPLEST FOLKS WEAR WITH SUCH FINESSE TO WEDDINGS????????????????????????????????????

ummm. you know, silk, banarsee, zari... the CLASSIC SAREE!

geez... guess they say, money or status can't buy you style. doesn't anyone know a good saree is a work of art? the fashion sense of ladies these days has gone out of the window- and these are the movers and shakers!

A) Wear a Saree to a wedding - it's an art:
first of all, to all of them above, not wearing sarees. whoahhh... didn't anyone tell you, for a wedding, a saree is an art form everyone craves to wear?? what are they, trying to look like a teen (but looking like a tent), wearing tent anarkalis or something? This is not a chak-chak clown circus event-- tone it down with the chak chak colors.. ladies...

B) Red is a big no-no to Indian weddings for everyone but the bride:
and to all of you wearing red... trying to overshine the best beauty of the day at any wedding- the bride-- (or even colors ranging on there)-- do you know that's the bride's color-- avoid it, ok? can't you learn your fashion for even a wedding, people? and no, don't cheat by wearning orange or corals-- you know it's not right.

C) Classic Fabric/Colors quality counts:
everyone seems to have purchased their outfits from the local mart - buy 2 get one free- sale... nothing stands out in the fabric quality. the outfits these days are bling/ fabric quality & simple elegance is out the window. Even the celebs these days with all the $ in their pockets advertising from everything to chips to creams-- don't know style;; they go for tent anaraklis in fabrics like draperies, simply because it's 'designer'... or atrcious cockaail sarees in the name of fashion. The color and/or the bling is so off-- it looks like a tent sale .

And color counts too. Try to wear pleasing colors for a wedding ok? This is not a business meeting or a pizza outing.

oh wow.. one of the ladies above is a billionaire (yes, billionaire)-- and she's dressed like that for a wedding !!???? laughable.

And Ameesha in a category all by herself-- she seems to be setting new standards in Indian designs... 'too rich to afford a blouse..'. whoah.. she's a producer, you say?

-- LEARN YOUR LESSON--

Discover the saree. It's an art, it's classic.
Decent zari and embroidery is a work of art. A good saree can transform someone to a pure work of art-- regardless of their size, shape or color. Seriously.

-- GRADES---
It's not all bad though....

An exception can be made for 2nd last row on the left, in the pink/peach saree (who..? Rati Pandey ?). Now this is a rather classic/classy saree made for a wedding: the zaree / color/ embroidery is classy. not too bling/ not too plain/color is very cute for a wedding. just right for a wedding. blouse is just ok though.. but it will do for today's standards. Jia's is close- but still a bit too plain for a wedding... more like a party saree. full marks to her though, for her awesome matching makeup/hair.

Celebs-- next time you have your designer hand you the latest trend, just go to even middle-class weddings and learn STYLE.

GRADE:
2nd Last Row - Left (Rati Pandey ?): B+
2nd Last Row - Right (Jia): C
Others: D to F- (no names mentioned).

Anonymous's picture

2nd last(mid) who is she??? She is wearning pak designer's dress hmmm

What a stupid, baseless assumption to make! How do you know what goes on in their marriage

Well, nobody apart from the two of them actually know what is going on in their marriage, but a couple's behavior actually does give a glimpse of the values they uphold. I also agree, with the comment at Wed, 2012-02-29 22:32. Reason : Read Abhishek's tweets, watch his interviews, you will know the way he respects women and loves his family. Also, you will never see Abhi trying to impress Ash the way these rich businessmen like Raj Kawar do for shilpa : buy a high property at Dubai, gift expensive diamonds or they way Saif does for Kareena : holiday package for exotic locations, punching a guy at Taj Mahal hotel because he asked Kareena's party to speak low, etc. Because Abhi and Ash and confident about their relationship and do not need to impress each other. Same holds true for Kiran Rao, she is very confident about her intellect, and their relationship; and does not feel the need to dress sexily to impress Aamir. She looks like a behanji , and even wears her glasses to most of parties/events. Which other star wife will do that? All others compete in getting the best designer clothes, handbags, expensive watches etc, etc.

People are writing cruel things about Aish.
She looks wan and tender...her feet look swollen. Maybe she hasn't recovered fully...some women need longer, it's alright.
Leave her be.

Anonymous's picture

Kangana looks hot! Genelia looks nice, but overdressed. I don't like anarkalis in general because if they're not made well, they don't have any shape to them. Aishwarya looks awful.

To some people here who are commenting about Aishwarya :
Do not compare Aishwarya with Shilpa and Lara. Shilpa and Lara married guys who were married earlier and have kids, so they have to work really hard to keep their husbands, else they will ditch them too.
Where as you can see that Aishwarya doesn't have to rush, she can lose weight slowly as Abhishek loves her and will not leave her and the baby. He has family values and look at the love he has for his wife irrespective of she being fat or thin.
