Freida Pinto - the red carpet dazzler

She is very pretty but it will be interesting to see how she progresses in the future.Think we have to give alot of credit to Danny Boyle and his film as without him there would be no Slumdog Millionare!I am not sure how talented she really is in an acting role as she had a small part in that film.We have to look back at the success of Trainspotting it was huge as well,I think Dev has a huge future ahead of him but think she looks great in a dress but I am not sure if she really has substance lets see

all she is is a new face on the block. she'll be forgotten in a few months.

She is so adorable and Im so happy for her to have come so far. She is delightfully and refreshingly beautiful, far from the stereotypical B'Wood gals. We want more of this. Go Freida!!!

Women of color, you've come a long way, Baby!
Yes, it's high time women of color get to be seen in a positive light.
And going by Allure magazine, Frieda continues to make waves- first time a desi is getting such strong raves- Allure reports:
"Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire. She's just so beautiful, isn't she? Her makeup and hair looked natural, not overdone? refreshingly gorgeous."

It's not that fair or blonde women are not pretty- they certainly are! It's just that dusky beauties are also pretty but have had the door shut on them for a long long time in the world of entertainment for glam roles. Halle Berry has said she still struggles for roles as a woman of color! In Bollwyood dusky heroines have had to start their career with negative roles or smaller parallel or art roles (i.e Bipasha, Priyanka). 85% to 90% of Indian women are gorgeous and dusky- where is their fair share of representation in Bollywood-- where 90% of heroines look Western? How about a diverse view and positive representation of all beauties of all shades, sizes and shapes please? And not just to target Bollywood, Hollywood also has a block: they cannot see beyond certain figures and sizes.

Let's go beyond these blocks now to embrace all!

I so agree with what Anonymous on Thu, 2009-01-29 19:20 has written above. The few times I've visited India, I am blown away by the "poorer" girls. They have such raw and sophisticated beauty. My friends and family think I'm crazy when I point them out. If a woman is light with no tone, she is a Goddess. Really terrible.

Frieda is gorgeous. But, you know what they're are even more exquisite women in her same vein of beauty. At least this is a good start. How cool would it be if some Hollywood agent took some obscure servant woman and made her a huge star? Indian people would be bewildered and call her "ordinary". I just don't know what to say to this kind of backwards thinking.

Is she going to attend the Oscars? If so, any clue what designer she'll get/choose?

She does not have the typical stronger-featured makeup-laden faces filled in Bollywood- very delicate face and smooth skin which does not need too much makeup.

London's Leicester Square: blouse is nice hatke look.. but the sari look is not.
What happened?.. she usually dresses so nice.

Nobody in the U.S. calls her India's Angelina Jolie.. please get your facts straight. Ryan Seacrest just asked her that because based on her beauty, he may have assumed so. And she set him straight. People here and in the U.K. just find her beautiful- that's all. If you know Hollywood, they are crazy for youth and beauty and a good figure-- and Freida has what they like.

No one is making a deal over her acting. I don't think she's taking credit for slumdog-- though she did audition for like 6 months; so she did not get it handed to her either like a star kid.

i dont really like freida because she thinks shes "all that" because of how much of a big deal they make of her in america calling her "indias ange jolie", so overated!!the success of slumdog but when will she realize the success had nothing to do with her??..she does look good at the SAG awards & the critics choice awards but the rest she doesn't look good

i love wat she wore 2 the diamond fashion show & the golden globes..but the slumdog london premiere, toronto film festival and producers guild awards dont look good.

Look, I am sure each and every one of your is gorgeous.. beauty of everyone is unique. That includes the blondes, brunettes, fair desis, dark desis, Africans, et all. It's a new world today. The point is not that if you like one, you dislike the other. The point is you like your preference and respect the other. Inclusions, no exclusions. No labels.
