okay, not everybody in the world would know history of fashion and the concepts from which the design was created.. and nor does everybody has to always care or keep up to date on the stuff which anyway gets recycled over time.. imagine what a guy thinks of this dress... he would be like 'err.. what is this girl wearing??!' or probably 'girls are mad..' it's like this... it's like believing the emperor is wearing the finest clothes when he is actually naked! i think the sari would have looked better if it would have been worn with a long sleeved black blous and hair were kept open and straight...

hmmm this is an amazing saree ..classy yet cute ..
sonam looks beautiful as always

for all those who din't get it , one last time...the saree is a take on a roman drapery , gold and velvet makes it regal, the pop art blouse is what makes it funky...its the tom and jerry take on roman regalia, hence the hair and jewellery to match it...like the funky take on it and it was event appropriate as it was an youth event she was attending...but generally as a whole not a fan of masaba sarees, don't like the colors she chooses they are very disturbing and not soothing...but this saree and blouse is an exception...love the parrot green

Dessigal there are lots of new photos of Sonam from Elle march 2012 and shela khan on her website sonam-kapoor.net.
You should upload them :)

the design concept is great.. modern
but there's something wrong on the bottom

sonam looks simply amazing in the saree................ she looks so thrilled....................eeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Her earings, hairstyle and make up are pathetic as bloody hell.Sometimes,Sonam overdoes with her experiments.I really like Deepika for her dressing sense. She looks classic and elegant.

sometimes hatke (different) is exactly what the fashion day calls for. With traditional sarees, often the focus is on the saree-- everyone focuses on the prints, foil, zaree, etc. it maybe very nice to look at, but the person is noticed afterwards.

that's not so favored for fashion all the time- esp for stars who want to get noticed more than their clothes.

With a Masaba saree, it's balanced. You notice the saree.. but more than that, you notice the person. The saree is more like a frame for the person. Look at the model and Sonam.. the saree is bold and strong, but it's balanced so that you notice the person equally. the focus is in its entirety.

this is why Masaba's fashions get favored..

nay!

oh why oh why do pinkvillians and haters go hand in hand.??
the hate on this post is shocking. glad pv removed the really ignorant comments.

hmmmmmmmmm... someone is clearly jealous that fashions can make people happy and empower the community.

velvet edge on silk.. nice.

Anonymous's picture

Sonam looks thrilled to be wearing the saree in such a different format.. and isn't that the point of fashion-- to smile?

saree has amazing fabrics.. it's definitely a good saree. don't let the frilliness of how it's worn with the blouse fool you.

Anonymous's picture

hip, mod and cool... this saree is it!

Anonymous's picture

the hate on them is crazzzzzzzzzzzzy.

Masaba's collections are so varied, hip and different. after checking out pinkvilla collections on her, look at the different stuff she creates.. it's all good.. and it all helps the community and the weavers.

You have to have strong striking features and a good posture to be able to carry off a Masaba saree. It's like wearing an art form-- the color and patterns are merged with your figure, and movements.

Madira Bedi is a huge fan of them-- and in fact, she looks the most gorgeous in a Masaba over any other saree.

Howdy guys,

Masaba's collections are often bold, strong and wild-- though she does have more variety in her collections. they are not for everyone.. but women of substance all over adore them to be a standout-art.

Mandira Bedi is a clear example of someone whose personality becomes more vivid in a Masaba saree (she is famous for her sarees.. but becomes more stronger in a Masaba).

Masaba has a growing amount of celebrity following in Mumbai... and in fact, Mandira Bedi, Rati Panedy and Zoa Morani like and wear her collections.

if people are wearing cocktail sarees (which is atrocious most of the time).. why not fusion sarees? bold , clean and strong, it's way better than the overdone strapless blouses that are cloned all of mumbai today.

not sure about the cow t-shirt blouse on such an amazing saree, but Sonam is young.. she can wear it. most people who will buy it will probably wear a strapless blouse anyhow..

all in all, amazing saree-- fab contrast. strong colors and texure contast is bold. blouse to be skipped.. .

striking striking saree.. what exquisite fabric! how nice that the weavers who wove this directly get money back and are empowered. it's nice that fashion can empower those that make fashion the powerhouse it is: the weavers!

the border on the bottom gives it a super kick and contrast.. really nice. the blouse would have been nicer in simple matching green though- but that can be fixed. very very different saree.. very stand-out.

really, this is for bold strong people. not everyone likes bold strong designs.. but it's cool and different.

stop the hate, jealousy and anger , people.
if you have nothing better to do than to diss diss diss, then try learning new hobbies to do instead.

fashion like this gives back to the community--think better thoughts than just cheap laughs.

stop the hate! stop the hate!

Anonymous's picture

the saree is good..at least it looks good on the model..with sonam there is too much going on and nothing gels!naay!

Anonymous's picture

this saree is growing on me...i never like any of masaba's designs but i like this one...i love the mix of pop art and roman Tonga design...love that she mixed it up the perfect gold jewellery for a tonga dress...she is even sporting the roman hairstyle...what i don't like is the make-up(like always)...too heavy for a young and pretty girl like sonam..i think she may have some dark circles...she can use minimal concealer for that ...but the rest of her face should be bare minimal..but no sonam has to get bridal make-up done all the time..i like the fresh faced look of the model...i hope she gets more confident with herself to go with lighter make-up

Anonymous's picture

She looks like a Jamadarni (Cleaning Lady) dressed up for a Holiday

Anonymous's picture

stop the hate. Masaba's collections works directly with weavers and gives back to them.. the fashion is for the betterment of all.

and yes, this saree is a work of art.

Anonymous's picture

Go Sonam & Masaba.. true artists.
never let the naysayers get u down.

Anonymous's picture

disagree with the others, it's the bottom of the saree which gives it its flair and kick. bold and wild! awesome

Anonymous's picture

saree is very cooool... border edges make the saree awesome. blouse is so-so- a different matching blouse will work and make this saree awesome.

is that supposed to be a racist comment or something? fusion is hip and all the rage.. if you don't like it, fine... everyone has different taste. but no need to get ignorant.

on the contrary, fusion fashion is so different and much fresher and bolder.

Anonymous's picture

amazing saree.. yet , it would have worked better with a border matching plain solid blouse of the same material as in the saree border.

but yes, very amazing saree.. very different art.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
