Vidya Balan tied the knot with long time beau Siddharth Roy Kapur today. Vidya, keeping true to her ethnic style was dressed in a beautiful red Sabyasachi sari complemented by exquisite custom designed Amrapali jewellery. Every piece of her jewellery has been made as per her wishes. Vidya’s necklaces and earrings were traditional gold specially designed for her by Amrapali.
Vidya has been a fan of Amrapali jewellery for a long time and has been spotted wearing the brand’s creations on several occasions and appearances.

Where are the pics of Vidya's grand reception? Is it already held or still to come?
Alia aapko to dekhte hi hr kisiko pyar aa jata hai.You are beauty of india...!
She looks like a 50 yr old at her son's wedding.
I love her saree and awesome jewelry but I feel she could've opted for a different hairstyle. Makes her head look flat. IMHO, she could've looked so much better!
dude lets face it. she looks bad on her wedding. the hairstyle sucks. so does the jewellery. she looks like a real curry aunty - not like a bride AT ALL. I LOVE HER THOUGH. i'm her biggest fan....but i still think she looks bad here. sad, since every girl wants to look their best on their wedding day...
I'll tell you what sucks, your freaking taste! ugh..That jewelry is traditional and so is her saree. Its simple is all but its definitely classy and elegant. Like someone mentioned, you don't have to get all decked up like a X-mas tree on your wedding day. I have seen some weddings up North and all that bright colors and sparkle and glitter is downright tacky! And so is their Bollywood style heavy jewelry with super bright lipsticks and shimmery eye-shadow. If I was the groom, I'd run in the opposite direction! Vidya is over-weight and I don't think she'd be able to carry off those heavily embroidered ghagras or sarees. For her figure, facial features and personality, this look was perfect!
And using words like "curry aunty" is crass.
huge YAY!A glowing bride

I am not saying simple looks boring. Silk saris are lovely and are an apt choice for a south indian wedding. I have been to south indian weddings where the saris are stunning, jewellery is lovely and with flowers in the bride's hair. This seems like a last minute wedding. All i am saying is that she should have made more of an effort. You (usually) get married only once in life.
Yeah. I hear you. Well I guess to each his own. Though I do agree she would have looked more lovely with a lil more effort :)
She is so boring- boring sari, boring jewelry! I think on her wedding day, she should have tried something different, a different drape, different styling! She looks the same here as how she looked in her past appearances over the year, I don't see any difference! Among the weddings this year, I really like LisaRay's wedding, she looked stunning and her styling simple yet so beautiful! But I am happy for Vidya, she deserves this, here's hoping Sid keeps her like a queen!
South Indians like to keep it simple, even if it may be their wedding day. And silk sarees may look boring to you but they're actually very classy and elegant. That's 100% pure silk and the whole gold shimmer is beautiful in its own unique way;its way more classy than those eye-blinding bling-bling that Bollywood ladies wear for weddings. And again, that may look like boring jewelry to some but its pure gold and is perfectly appropriate for a marriage function.

To everybody commenting on Vidya's clothes , she generally comes across as a simple person. U don't see her rushing to buy the latest fashions & be photographed in it . Traditionally , pure silk sari's are said to remove 'dosham' ( bad luck) especially in South Indian Brahmin weddings. The bride may wear something different for her reception, but the wedding sari must be a pure silk one. I think this looks better than some of the positively tasteless wedding outfits worn by recent brides like Shilpa or even Kareena's reception outfit. One need not look like a XMAS tree every time.
Lol well said!!
God bless.
i like her and her jewellery but these two sets were not made especially for her...i've been to amarapalli mumbai 4 months back n saw the same sets then.
I usually like the way she dresses up in sarees ...she does not seem to be carrying off this saree too well!
the first necklace is called lakshmi kaash(lakshmi coin) chain which is compulsary for all south indian brides from kerala,tn,karnataka and ap...lakshmi is the goddess of wealth..only on the day of the wedding and that one day only, the bride is considered as lakshmi and the groom as vishnu according to tradition..i like her version of the lakshmi kaash chain...the longer chain that she is wearing is traditional south indian 'temple jewellery'...she could have worn kanjeevaram saree but she is seemingly wearing a banarasi silk saree..she has changed the jumkas but maintained the same earring with the necklace set.
Jewellery was horrible to be honest
She look so fresh and glowing cos of her personal happiness not due to sabya or amra
She looked great. A true bridal look.
I don't like Vidya Balan's look for her wedding day. It is her style and you should be yourself on your wedding day, but she looks so bland. There should be some kind of extra special glow on your wedding day.
thank you for keeping up the tradition...
Also that's traditional antique gold jewelry. Way more classy than just showy big jewelry.

She is not boring -__- Thats her STYLE and she looks great in it! I actually like it because it looks very traditional, unique and SYMBOLIC.
I love the jewellary !!! No overdose of jewellary ...I wish she had put plates for the pallu ..

Its a lovely traditional look. She looks beautiful!
She is wearing 2 of the most overpriced and overrated brands!!

YaY! She looks stunning in the sari and I love the jewelry! Perfect.
I like the low key wedding. Hope it inspires many poor families struggling with dowry issues to marry their daughters in dignity and class too. Marriage is after all a sacred bond with God as witness. Low key is the new kool.
Her sari remind's me of Sridevi's in English Vinglish climax. Same designer :)
Could she not have styled herself better like a modern bride. I mean what was the need to look like a bhenji? Now people don't need to lash on me because I said the truth
