all the cloths are not bridal cloths.. ive some of them.. only some are bridal cloths and the rest are cloth to wear on people weddings!
so now looking pakistani=looking lebanese/ jordanian???
these models look typically pakistani
i know for a fact that in this fashion show, the designers actually made an effort to choose models that really looked pakistani (and not western at all) for their bridal wear. as a designer in pakistan, i came across this site looking for reviews on this show and am surprised that people think the designers in pakistan are trying to look for models that look something other than pakistani.
just for people's general knowledge, pakistani fashion is very traditional and the more traditional, the more fashionable it is. this is one quality that distinguishes pakistani fashion from all the other fashion countries in the world. there are many designers that do innovative and experimental work, but it is the traditional outfits that sell the most.

I am Punjabi Indian, Pak designers do give the designers in Bombay a run for their money, NONE of the outfits are tacky and all you see in Bollywood untill recently is Anarkali suits (GAG) or legging suits which cater to Gujratis and Sindhis. They are covered up, yet sexy, which many Brides do likes esp in North West India. In fact, in Punjab, the the trend of Pakistani style suits with the full sleeves and flared salwars is getting popular with the upper class.

its a bridal make up what do you expect? have you seen arabic bridal make up? ten times heavier than this, and what do you mean trying too to look like Lebanese/Jordanian? these models are just trying to look Pakistani brides wearing pakistani dresses and jewellery does that how Lebanese/Jordanian brides dress up like? Lebanese/Jordanian have brown eyes they too wear contact lenses, and these models are naturally fair skinned they don't need to lighten up.

its funny you are buyer of Pakistani stuff and yet you are saying there is no variety in embroidery and styles?
every few years the style of shalwar kameez changes, different sorts of embelishments comes in!
and i really dont think chicken biryani is trying to sell clothes, she is just showing the side of fashion scene in Pakistan, whts wrong with that? there are many Indian who adore Pakistan fashion, and i'm sorry but you can tell from most of posts that posters are indian and they are the ones comparing it with Manish Malhotra ............as for variations, you need to chck out real Pakistani fashion,we have so many variations that i dont want to offend you but i dont know of any Pakistani who would go for Indian designer when it comes to eastern wear, this is how good eastern wear is in Pakistan!!
international buyers, girl you dont know anything about our designers, top designers like hsy, umer saaeed, karma, sana and safinaz and may others have showcased their stuff in miami, london, dubai and new york fashion show, since last few years Pakistan fashion is making it big in international market, just because you are not aware of it, does not mean its not happening, just few days back i came across pfdc sunsilk pakistan fashion show photos on indian websites, i think its you who need to get your facts right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its kind of weiird sort of compliement trend i have come across on pinkvilla, one side they will put down Pakistan and other side they will be saying oh yes but clothes are good, i would rather prefer do not say anything at allll ,
and last thing, ITS PAKISTANI, not pakiiii!
@chicken biryani, thanks for the post. All the designers did a great job. I know these are only pix but loved Alamgir and Hasan Rizvi performances on the show.

Don't get me wrong... i am a buyer of Pakistani material for quite some time now... i love their lawns and i am well versed in their designer vocabulary but it just get furious when every now and then a random post about Pakistani designers comes up on pink villa, and all u pakis start saying how it is better than manish malhotra !! I mean WTF ????
We know that Manish Malhotra sucks. We don't need u to tell us.
If your designs are soo great , why isnt it being sold world wide, y only concentrate on India ??? Why aren't u guys a part of International Fashion weeks ?? Why aren't Saudi / Arab women wearing these for their weddings ????
And all pakistani designers concentrate on are wedding wear .. which is salwar kameez and the longshirt-gharara/sharara combo !! Its just two types of outfits tht people wear in Pakistan. So they better gt it right !!!
And the paki designers have not invented embroidery.. all these have been in existence since 1000s of years..... India has moved on and has begun experimenting with other patterns besides the traditional kaam / embroidery !! Design sensibilities change.. sometimes for the good or sometime for the bad.
And are paki designer now selling their clothes thru pinkvilla ????

you pakis never leave any chance to show bad to india. I am indian muslim and i must say that this collection is very nice, but it would be better if you don't bring Manish Mlhotra in between. He is great, his beautiful clothes worn by many Bollywood actresses and he has many beautiful collections than this. Pakistani designer took inspiration from Manish Malhotra and I can see a glimpse of Manish collections in these dresses and many pakis collections. So just shut up.
-----------------------
wait a min, if that was the case that designes were copy of manish malhotra every single person out here would have been saying the same, but the truth is its completely different work, just look at the cuts and embroidery, do you get this kinda elegant embelishment in India? so dear its not a copy... also, just because someone compare it to manish malhotra, does not automatically make them Pakistani, so please i think its you who needto stop puttting down others and refrain from using offensive language. let's not ruin this thread by calling others with name.

as far as being a pakistani fashion designer the trends that are running in for formals and bridals are long shirts and loose fitted silouettes with flaere and long lengths however if u see out pretwear shows you would hardly spot a length anywhere close to what these are... one has to understand bridals and formals are a whole different ball game altogether, a genre in its own right like pretwear and couture
Tue, 2012-04-24 07:21 — Anonymous
I love the fact that kameez are long and not short (I had hard time finding a readymade designer kurta that was long enough). Its good that they have full sleeves tooo because I am crazy about full sleeves kameez. And of course the color...And LOVE the fact that they are flowy? Where can I get good pakistani salwar kameez in USA? Are there any good stores that carry nice Pakistani outfits in Delhi, India?
